Way to stick the landing Kripke. I liked that ending and I think I’m in the minority. I am content. And here’s why. Homelander dies a brutal death on live television, any plans he had of being God are well and truly shit on. Butcher. I’m gutted. No he wasn’t a good person he was flawed and complex but there was no “happy ending” for him, and yea now that you’ve said he chose his death by Huey’s hands because he had nothing left to live for makes so much sense. I’m okay with that. Huey got his happy ending, I don’t like naming the baby Robin though, doesn’t sit right with me. The Deep - I fuckin called that shit! I wanted him ripped apart by sharks but getting fisted by an Octopus is just as good, fuck you Kevin. Kimiko - what a beautiful soul, I just see someone who’s been through it, more than anybody should have to bare. And yes Shan they are all depowered no more flying boy wonder, all 3 got hit by the blast so it’s a regular human shit show of a life for him (maybe)

I did like this finale. Was it perfect? No but the major plot lines they wrapped up were satisfying. I wish they did more with the Gen V characters. They showed up in this and the last episode just to fuck off. Especially with everything they did with Marie in that show, to see her just be cameoing was disappointing. But I guess Kripke said that they didn't wrap up those characters' stories because they were planning on continuing Gen V. It got cancelled though. Homelander's end was satisfying. Yeah, I read some theories online too that he might live as a depowered human. I would have hated that. He did too many bad things for them to just be like ok, you're not a threat to us anymore, so enjoy your miserable mortal life. I thought that too, that Butcher went to Vought so that Hugh would end him. It was a fitting end. I could have gone either way as far as him living or dying. He did enough good things to make up for the bad. But also, people need to face consequences. The sad part though was Terror dying, which was made worse by the fact that the dog actually died IRL. The deep's death was poetic. He was ended by the very creatures he loved and wanted to protect. Yeah, I don't think Starlight was trying to talk him down into becoming a good guy. It was more that she was giving him one last chance for her not to kill him. It was more about her than him. She wanted to stop him but she didn't feel the need to kill him out of revenge anymore. It was part of her character growth. There was a line that perhaps you missed, when Butcher was talking to Ryan, about them not being supes anymore. So, Kimiko's blast did affect them, as well as Homelander. I guess that's the only way Hugh would have been able to stop him and Ryan is less like his father, which is good for him. Another show comes to an end on ASR. It's been quite a ride and although this past season, for the most part, has been a bit disappointing, they managed to not do a GoT, so yay!
