Ho Ho Ho and a bottle of rum! *In your best captain jack sparrow voice* “where has all the rum gone” Pirates of the Caribbean being very popular at the time and not wanting to miss out DW goes sea worthy. That bloody woman with the eye patch is back again, and the Doctor still can’t figure out if Amy is pregnant. The mystery continues. This episode's original title was Siren and was the ninth episode of series six. The decision to reorder the episodes was made before production ended on Black Spot. To create the storm the crew used wind and rain machines, the latter of which went through 15,000 litres of water. Anticipating they would get soaked, the cast present on deck wore dry suits underneath their clothes. Karen Gillan was allowed to perform several of her own stunts in the episode. She was excited to learn that her character would fight pirates with swords, and was taught how to handle one with basic moves. She was also allowed to swing across the ship, coz she’s a bad bitch and you can’t stop her. Before filming began on the storm sequences, Arthur Darvill heard that he would perform the stunt where he is thrown into the sea, and was willing to perform it, but he didn’t get to, instead a stunt man performed it coz he ain’t a bad bitch and you can stop him. In 2019, it was rumoured that Karen Gillan would replace Johnny Depp in a reboot of Pirates of the Caribbean hahahahahahaha No No No we’re not doing that, I didn’t know this until doing research for this episode but I’m glad it never happened. Fuck off Hollywood. As the episode was pirate-themed, the producers wanted to fit in as many elements as possible from pirate fiction, including treasure, mutinies, a stowaway boy, walking the plank, storms, swords, and a pirate with a "good heart" who "isn't really evil." I guess it depends how you feel about pirate stories I’m indifferent about them myself, a heater from me, I usually skip on a rewatch. I’m outty

The Sarah Jane Adventures didn't *really* end on it's own terms but there weren't any *major* dangling plot threads. The show ended half-way through series 5, from what I can tell, that's because the first half was filmed around the same time as series 4 and they expected to pick up the filming for the second half a little later. They mostly managed to make a few tweaks to the last episode which finishes with a montage of Sarah Jane with a voiceover by Elizabeth Sladen. So it doesn't completely end out of the blue but it does feel a little jarring in my eyes.

Real sad 😔 Sarah Jane smith was amazing as a companion and a person

Retro Tom

There was a simplistic production called Farewell Sarah Jane with actors from her show & classic Who telling stories & talking about being at her funeral into web camera to give the character a send off.

Sarah Jane was my introduction to classic Who and got me into the original show, plus she felt like the cool aunt you can always hang out with. RIP Elizabeth Sladen.

Not exactly Pirates of the Caribbean is it? Things like about the episode, the Doctor and Captain Henry Avery (real pirate by the way) bond as both are captains of their own ships, left home and families behind for adventures. Alright episode but would have liked more if Captain Jack Sparrow appeared (I know these are two different properties, but come I dream it right?)

Henry Avery (or Every) was a real pirate in the late 17th century. He led a mutiny, took over a ship, and sailed to the Indian ocean where he caused a major international incident between England and the Mughal empire by robbing the Mughal fleet (during which his crew tortured and sexually assaulted religious pilgrims, who included an elderly relative of the Mughal emperor). Its been said that the search for him was the first worldwide manhunt in history, but he disappeared without a trace.

Excuse me, Karen Gillan would make a fantastic pirate. She obviously wouldn't BE Jack Sparrow, but, you know, there can be more than one fictional pirate.
