I completely forgot that River was in this. And hello John Hurt, you acting legend!

Hey Shan. In the name of the Doctor and the Holy River Ghost amen. The original plan for the ending was to have the Eleventh Doctor carry Clara out of his time stream, but Matt Smith had a knee injury so it could not be shot. This is only the second series finale of the revived series not to feature a Dalek. Alex Kingston has a habit of slapping the absolute shit out of people when asked to do so in the script, so when it came time for River to slap Madame Vastra to wake her up the stage direction for the moment ended with a cheeky "Good luck, Neve!". Fortunately the face mask cushioned most of the blow. On the dvd commentary for this episode Matt Smith recalled that he and Jenna Coleman were told not to swing on the bars during the TARDIS's fall to Trenzalore. Matty did so anyway. The scene where the Doctor and River say their final goodbyes was filmed in just one take. By the end, both cast and crew were in tears. Not me. I remained vigilant as ever. Originally, Jenna Coleman was considered to play River's previous incarnation, Mels, in Let's Kill Hitler from the previous series. End of season “Doctor Who” count how many times different characters said the name of the show. 24 times altogether. Challenge accepted. Homework completed. This episode is fine if you don’t question it too much, we said goodbye to River, we saw Richard E. Grant again he’s a big fan, Clara was making tea and rode the oblivion train only to faint when she saw the guy from Alien and there was lots of callbacks to ‘Classic Who’ Episode beard rating: A Lemmy from Motörhead. Pics in the discord. Okay so editors note (jays note) I’ve been thinking about this for a while now and is Jenna Coleman not doing it for you? Are the stories not hitting the way they used to? did the Doctor have a better connection with Amy because he knew her from childhood or because he ran with her longer? I think she’s a great companion, if a little bossy. Now we outty.

Bro chill it’s not that deep 😂 she doesn’t watch the minisodes and that’s okay

I do wish she'd watch just one minisode (The Night of the Doctor) because its actually important and not just fluff- important enough it probably should have been put in a full episode rather than a minisode. But to each their own.

Charlie Matthews

When I first saw this one big problem I had was, why the Great Intelligence wasn't played Ian McKellen like he did in the Snowman episode. I mean don't get me wrong Richard E. Grant is a great actor, never given a bad performance here is no exception. But just imagine how cool it would of been, if the Intelligence took the form of McKellen, would of been the closest we get to the Doctor fight Magneto. Just saying. I Get the man was busy filming The Hobbit when this was made still.

There is one minisode that's important to help explain John Hurt's doctor called Night of the Doctor that you can wach before Day of the Doctor, you can easily skip The Last Day one though it's not actually that important It's available on YouTube

The discussion to add the minisodes to the watch order was held several times on Discord between the people who ultimately helped me come up with the watch order she's following and I presented the suggestion to her an equal amount as well. Her decision was clear, she didn't want to do them. I think that's fair, given that if she were to do minisodes for this franchise, she'd have to do them for all the other shows too. (TWDverse has them, Gateverse had them, Arrowverse had them, future shows may have them too) It'd take more time to get everything done and not everyone seems like the minisodes were NEEDED. material either. She'd be fine without it. I think a fair compromise is the fact she's doing the Special episodes at least. There's been things in the past for other franchises where she skipped these Specials. That said, with Arrowverse (and I think Grimm) people in the selection tier decided to select certain special content that some felt needed to be watched. This same suggestion has been made and if people are really deadset on having it included, it may or may not be reacted to. (currently there's no indication anyone WANTS to select said content though) That is all.
