Patrick - Excelsior

Percy suggests they use a CT scanner from the zoo, for which he is chastised. The practice of referring patients to a zoo or veterinarian is commonplace, especially in America due to the high occurrence of obesity. Yes, actor Jerry Kernion wore prosthetics fat suit to portray the 700-pound patient. Damn, its the guy who's wife died 2 episodes ago. I don't see how there is a case here. She had an advanced directive to not keep her on life support if she was declared brain dead. A husband cannot legally override a valid advance directive left by his wife. Medical providers are legally required to follow the patient's documented instructions. I figured there was a reason Cristina was indentifying with the child so much she pulled out of the surgery to give her comfort. It's very sweet. Alex signed the papers so that ends the Izzy/Alex marriage storyline. I can't believe they are actually hitting golfballs off the hospital helicopter pad. Supposedly they balls are going in the nearby bay. (even though the bay is too far away to hit too) But if they hit one bad they could very likely kill someone.

I think the sensitivity training, while good obviously, can sometimes have the opposite effect of putting everyone on edge and making the patient more uncomfortable because of it. I really love when we see this side of Cristina where she makes the decision to forgo something that we know she loves in terms of medicine to do “what’s right” like looking after the child here. She comes across so robotic sometimes, it makes these moments of emotion so great. She’s a fantastic actress. The way Derek talks to Meredith sometimes makes me so uncomfortable. He treats her so much like a naughty child or something. I know it’s difficult because he’s her superior at work, but he shouldn’t be doing that in their personal life. I feel for the guy who lost his wife but he really doesn’t have any sort of case here. Derek really had no choice acting the way he did.
