Okay I'll admit I do not like this episode. The Doctor just abandons Clara and Courtney on the moon, and just says "your problem not mine", I know they wanted to make the Doctor more alien this series but this is a bit too far. When I first watched this years ago, it nearly killed Doctor Who for me! Luckily the next episode saved the show, but honestly if I have been Clara, I wouldn't of slapped the Doctor I would of punched him right in the face. Also just as a side note I heard someone say this was an anti-abortion story, which the writer of this episode has denied.

Zoot!

I basically hate this episode. The whole idea is just stupid.

The moon is an Egg! You wot?! Clara big mad, Clara real big mad but is it justified? Let’s see shall we! her friend left her, a stranger, and a child on the moon to make a massive decision which would affect all 9 billion people on the planet below. Yeah nah yeah he’s a dick. Why did he peace out and not help out his friend? He’s clever enough to know how she would react right? And the whole ‘your big enough to go to the shops on your own’ is patronising, there’s better ways of teaching someone a lesson. Moffat said called the script "intense and emotional". Imagine how it felt for the rest of us. I did see you wince at the pitta patter of spider legs, all the sounds you hear from the show are made in a Flat in London, just like ADR on films but instead of voice over it’s every door slam, every spider crawl every time someone places a cup/mug/can down. After reading the script, Paul Wilmshurst's principal concern was how sequences on the surface of the Moon would be realised. Greenscreen effects in the studio were one option, as was the use of a quarry, (DW loves a quarry) He decided to film in Lanzarote, cast and crew from classic Who have filmed there before which is why the working title for this episode was Return to Sarn, a reference to a classic Who story called The Planet of Fire during the 5th Doctors run. Peter Capaldi has limited skills with a yo-yo which is why his daughter’s boyfriend helped teach him some basic moves. I spent months with a yo-yo during there popularity upswing (geddit) we had competitions with prizes for most tricks performed within the time limit. And yes Peter Capaldi confirmed that he wore the same spacesuit worn by David Tennant in The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit and The Waters of Mars. I love the drama of this one and the astronaut lady was in a TV show called ‘Cold Feet’ and in this episode she got Cold feet. I do love eggs too, there’s so much you can do with em, omelette, boiled, scrambled, poached, I like mine over easy - wbu? Boring start, Capaldi makes it better bouncing around like a loon. Easy rose for the drama at the end.

The Doctor tells Courtney to put a disc in the consol and it'll bring the TARDIS to him, but to hold onto the consol or she'll be left behind- this is a reference to the ending of "Blink," the first Weeping Angels episode.

You know, I don't know why so many people hate this episode. It is a really weird premise, even for this show, but that's the kind of absurdity that makes Doctor Who great. No other show can get as weird as this one. I like the point the Doctor was trying to make, and I thought Capaldi acted it well, but I do understand Clara's anger and hurt at him at the end (one of Jenna Coleman's best scenes). He needed the wake-up call about how he's been acting. The Doctor is often manipulative and arrogant- this was true of the others but kind of hidden by their charm, less so with 12. That last scene with Danny is probably the best he's had with Clara so far. Also, STOP BRINGING CHILDREN ON THE TARDIS. It is not safe.

Charlie Matthews

Agreed, children are not allowed to go on trips with the Doctor.
