Note: I messed up the poll (what else is new? 😆) with two "Body Heat" selections. I'm at work and can't edit the poll from either the app or desktop. It needs to be cancelled and restarted, but I can't do that until 9pm tonight when I get home. Let me know if you want me to restart it, or you can just ignore the second "Body Heat" votes (I won't count them).

I wasn’t going to put it on then ended up putting it twice this all at 12:30am 😆

Let me know down below please ! Or I’ll decide when I get home

Xx

I might have caused some confusion! I was specifically looking for dramas, not rom-coms. Except for Moulin Rouge! and Roman Holiday, I only included movies with 'Drama' or 'Romance' listed as genres on IMDb or Google. Because I want to watch the 2 winners in this poll if it had a long run time I didn't choose it along with if I had seen it. (So you get a sense of how I chose these. Since I haven’t seen these films yet, I did my best to narrow them down within the genre. Please go easy on me—I’m trying! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

We can do another Rom-Com poll soon!

Approval style!

Somewhere in Time is one of my favorites!

Paul Cox

Body Heat must be a ringer, because we can vote for it twice! 😆

Teemu Laitinen

Roman Holiday for the win! Hopefully.

TeddyKGB

Did Body Heat get mixed in from the noir poll? 😋

RFK Fan

Roman holiday looks like the odds on fave and you will absolutely love it but I’m secretly rooting for ON GOLDEN POND which I know you’ll also love…

Paul Cox

Past Lives was my favorite film of 2023 full stop. I'm pleased it's doing ok here, though I don't expect it to win. Reactors are here for exploration, voters are here to reaffirm the familiar. I just hope you see it at some point, on or off the channel.

Tom Rufer

Body heat must count double... it is now at at least 13 votes.

Randolph Tirazona

An Officer and Gentleman & Some Where in Time. I vaguely remember these two, but Officer stands out.

Catchermag

Having Audrey Hepburn and ‘Body Heat’ Kathleen Turner on the poll is like having Mary Ann and Ginger. Can’t we just watch them both ❤️❤️

LaserLamb

Hi Ames, I'm back here with you for this month. Just wanted to point out, if it's not clear, you have 'Body Heat' on the list twice.

Alan Kobb

Not a big deal, but the 1981 movie is "On Golden Pond", no "A". Also, while it's currently losing the poll, if you eventually see Romeo and Juliet, you may want to consider also doing West Side Story, which is strongly inspired by Romeo and Juliet.

Don Dunco

Little known fact (for most of you ) On Golden Pond was the best grossing picture the year it came out except for one teeny, tiny, leetle picture that made a tiny bit more than it: Raiders of the Lost Ark. If I recall correctly this is the first and only time Henry Fonda (who made a crap ton of westerns, 12 angry men and quite a few others) and his daughter Jane Fonda acted together in a film. I saw this movie when I was 12 or 13 when I was totally prejudiced against dramas.....and I walked out a changed "man," I LOVED IT! If you decide to go with only the top 2 films, please reconsider and make this film a personal pick. You WILL NOT regret doing so, Ames.

Baron Imhoof

Studied Wings of Desire in my German Cinema class. An amazing movie that won best director at Cannes. It stars Bruno Ganz, who was nominated for an Oscar as Hitler in Downfall (2004).

Catchermag

Just saw the edit to your poll intro. My vote is to leave the second body heat and don’t count it

Raieldon

Damn it, how did I not think of Wings Of Desire?

Rev. Elgaroo Brenza

it's approval voting anyway, just take the bigger of the double options, shouldn't make a difference, unless someone voting got REALLY confused.....!!)

JM63

Like others said, no need to restart the poll. Just ignore the votes for the second Body Heat entry.

Scott Bergstrom

I haven't seen many reactions to An Officer and a Gentleman. I always liked that movie.

Clay F

Man, I like all 3 top vote-getters: BEFORE SUNRISE (1995) [one of my favs], AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN (1982), ROMAN HOLIDAY (1953). While likely won't win, nice to see BODY HEAT (1981) in 4th place and thus showing promise for future polls. While SUMERLAND (2020) got little love (tied for last place), I like that movie. This is an excellent poll.

Witchfinder General

2 sets of votes for Body Heat, what a conundrum ! Call in the lawyers !! FYI Austin Powers director Jay Roach made a great movie 'Recount' in 2008, with an all-star cast, about the shambolic election process of George W Bush. It's funny, absurd and interesting modern history

LaserLamb

I recommend 'Punch Drunk Love' (2002) for a sweet dramatic romance movie 💖💖💖

John Courtright

Good job noting the difference between Romantic Dramas and Rom-Coms in the description, Ames! There's a world of difference between the two!! I like Rom-Coms, but I LOVE ❤️ Romantic Dramas!! 😂

Strangelove50

Quite a list going; should have included Only the Lonely (1991), John Candy, Ally Sheedy, Maureen O'Hara and Next Stop Wonderland (1998), Hope Davis

Retro Maven

Ames, not to nitpick but you need to buy a vowel for Notorious... (try a 'u'! 🙄

Todd Rush

Notorious is great, but "Romantic Drama"? I guess it depends on how you squint your eyes. "The Lady Vanishes" - also an incredibly fun Hitchcock film - could be regarded as that as well, even though that isn't the main point. I am voting for "Officer..." but wouldn't hate if Notorious (or The Lady Vanishes, 1938) got in there. (I have not seen any of these other movies, so they might be WAY more appropriately branded "Romantic Drama." (When I think of that genre I think of Downton Abbey, which I LOVE. But I may just not "get it." Sometimes I think I am kind of dumb about this movie stuff. Actually, I'm quite certain. LOL. (BTW: that was a nervous "LOL", like a "I really DO sound stupid, don't I?" kind of "LOL." LOL. [That last one was real.] )

Clay F

An Officer and a Gentleman (1982) (I have nostalgia for) and Roman Holiday (1953) (one of my favorite black/white movies) are tied. I could alter my vote in an effort to break the tie but not going to.
