Yes!!!!!!! High five!!!! About to watch now! Woo hoo! PS: I just happened to read today that not only did Sandy Meisner teach Robert Duvall and Diane Keaton.....he also taught Gregory Peck! As if I needed another reason to love Gregory Peck! I'm happy he's two for two on the channel so far! 😊

Great, great movie. So glad you enjoyed it

Gregory Peck was so impressed by newcomer Audrey Hepburn he insisted the producers give her top billing over him. I think it’s impossible for anyone who watches NOT to fall in love with her…

Ames, she’s in Charade with Cary Grant, that definitely should be your next stop. And Fred Astaire in Funny Face. She’s perfect in My Fair Lady. But my absolute favorite is Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I watch it at least once a year. I want to save her in that movie. And her cat, cat.

So full disclosure I watched this movie yesterday because life is really rough right now so instant gratification is all that’s getting me through. So I watched it for the second time in two days, and I love how much you love this movie. It’s a special film with special people in a special place during a special time, Italy being reborn. I also don’t think it’s mentioned enough how almost impossible it is to convey a realistic love story like this, that spans a day, is the beginning and the end, and that you actually BELIEVE. I believed they were in love so much as to have been heartbroken even though they knew each other for one day. It’s magical really. And Audrey. It’s like she’s a fawn that became a person. She was only 23 when they filmed this. Her facial expressions during that final scene were so subtle, it takes multiple viewings just to see what lies beneath them. Gorgeous movie. I’ve seen it twenty times and I still cried with you. Now, get cracking on Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Whenever I watch Roman Holiday, I always get distracted by how modern the photographer looks. Everything from his haircut to his hipster beard to his clothes that look like they’re from Old Navy screams screenwriter working on a laptop at Starbucks. That guy is a time traveler from the future! 😂

Glad you liked the movie. I first watched this movie in 2013 as prep for a Rome trip. I was blown away by how stunning and captivating that Audrey Hepburn is. Very pleasant to watch. Loved her in this. Gregory Peck, a handsome guy with charisma, did excellent. Eddie Albert did well. The ending was bittersweet but the movie kept it real. Maybe today a half century later, the ending could have been viably different. By the way, she is a princess of a fictional European country. Audrey Hepburn gives the best smile in film history imo after Princess Anne wakes in his apartment and realizes she had spent the night there. Princess Anne: "So I spent the night here with you?" Joe: "Well, now, I don't know that I'd use those words exactly but, uh ... from a certain angle, yes." Princess Anne: pause ... pause ... [looks up] ... [smiles]

I'm so glad you finally got to see an Audrey Hepburn film, Ames! And what a film! She was absolutely perfect in Roman Holiday!! It's impossible not to love her! She really lit up the screen! Talk about starting off a film career at the top!! She was the first actress to win an Oscar, a Golden Globe Award, and a BAFTA Award for a single performance. I strongly agreed with you about the ending, Ames. It was heartbreaking 😢 but realistic. I love that! I think it is respectful of the film audience to have a believable ending. "Life isn't always what one likes", right? But as you mentioned in your outro, Ann and Joe will always have the memories of their day together, and no one can take those away from them! (Plus, Ann has the pictures which she will always treasure!) I can't wait for more Audrey Hepburn films! Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961); Charade (1963) - with Cary Grant; My Fair Lady (1964) - a musical!, and Wait Until Dark (1967).

I knew you'd love this movie Ames. For me this is a perfect movie. I love that they actually filmed this on location. It was either in color in studio or on location in b&w. I'm so glad they chose to shoot on location. Audrey blew everyone away with this movie and rightfully so. Gregory Peck is so amazing and these two are fantastic together. You really believe in their feelings toward each other. Both have done amazing films, but this might be my favorite film of them both. I'd read from somewhere that they didn't tell Audrey what Peck would do at the Mouth of Truth to get a genuine reaction out of her. From Audrey as others have said Breakfast at Tiffany's, Charade, My Fair Lady, Wait Until Dark are definitely worth checking out. I'd also add Robin and Marian (1978) with Sean Connery as Robin Hood, Audrey as Maid Marian and Robert Shaw as Sheriff of Nottingham. From Peck I'd heartily recommend The Guns of Navarone (1961) based on Alistair Maclean's novel. An old school war classic with a star cast of Gregory Peck, Anthony Quinn, David Niven and so on. In the same vein I'd recommend Where Eagles Dare (1968) with Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood. It also has a fantastic score by Ron Goodwin and is also written by MacLean. Love MacLean's books.

Until I met my ex-girlfriend from Chile, I said for years that Audrey Hepburn was the most beautiful woman who ever walked the planet. I have always preferred brunettes over blondes. Marilyn Monroe was beautiful and sexy, but she couldn’t hold a candle to Audrey Hepburn. She had this sincerity and purity which always came across especially through her eyes and smile. And, that voice and laugh. As someone once said of her, she was the dream where you wake up smiling. The scene where she gets her haircut is my favorite. How can you not fall in love with her? And let’s not forget Gregory Peck. Fantastic actor. He was a wonderful counterpoint to Audrey. As you can probably gather, I’m a hopeless romantic. Don’t get me wrong. I love toilet humor and a lot of silly stuff. But I am an unabashed romantic and I love this movie.

It's waaaaaaay late, like eight months late, for this comment, but I'll give it a shot anyway. You've seen two of Gregory Peck's best performances, To Kill a Mockingbird, and this film Roman Holiday. If you go searching for more, I'd like to suggest three of my remaining favorites: Spellbound (1945),. a Hitchcock classic co-starring the magnificent Ingrid Berman. Twelve O'Clock High(1949), a WWII film about bomber pilots. The Big Country (1958), a Western with seafarer Peck come to the Wild West as a fish out of water, and having to prove his mettle against a rough and tumble code of manhood that is foreign to him. As for Audtrey Hepburn, I endorse some of the selections that have been given already, especially Wait Until Dark (1967) a gripping thriller, and My Fair Lady (1964), one of the top film musicals in cinematic history IMO. Charade (1963) and Sabrina (1954) are also worthy picks.
