Hey everyone! I hope you had an amazing holiday season! Can you believe 2025 is just around the corner? Time is flying, and honestly, a couple of days off wasn’t nearly enough for me (haha). But hey, I fully embraced the lazy vibes, spent time with family, and caught up with my bestie, Mel—which was the best. I hope your holidays were just as wonderful, no matter where you were or who you celebrated with!

I had grand plans for an "Ames' Bucket List of Movies Week" (if you’ve been on the lives, you know how long I’ve been itching to dive into some of these films). But… five days of much-needed relaxation took over LOL. That said, there’s one movie—cough cough Casino—that I’m determined to fit in ASAP. Fingers crossed!

Even so, this week’s lineup is shaping up to be awesome:

🎥 Tuesday, Dec 31 – HAPPY NYE! Closing out the year with Star Trek VI! I am so not ready to say goodbye to this incredible crew. 🖖🎥 Friday – Open Range (2003): A big-time bucket list movie for me. I’ve been dying to see it, and this week feels perfect.🎥 Saturday – Don’t Look Now (1973): My tribute to Donald Sutherland and my love of horror. I missed this one during Spooktober, so I’m making up for it now.

ALSO, get polls back in action this week! so keep a look out!

What a way to end 2024 and kick off 2025 with these gems.

What Reactions are you most excited about for 2025? I’d love to hear! 💖 Excited to get my Patreon-integrated apps going for more community participation and Merch in 2025! Updates to come!

Lastly, I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of you for making this year on Patreon so incredibly special. I’m endlessly grateful for your support and the amazing cinephile community we’ve built together. You’ve made 2024 unforgettable, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

xx always,Ames

Open Range is one of my top westerns!

Open Range is fantastic. Well anytime you get Robert Duvall it's going to be good.

Fingers, toes and eyes crossed that you reach and satisfy your filmaholic nature. We loveeeee your reactions Ames…You have a phenomenal spirit about you and when you’re taken aback by witty humor, brutally unabashed acting or whathaveyou, it’s so entertaining. We hope to see you in a series or film/s yourself as we believe that what’s lurking inside you is authenticity and creativity. So you better knock our socks off. Lol Wishing You and yours a beautiful, prosperous and fulfilling New Year. Much love and respect.

I love Open Range. Happy New Year.

Love me some Trek, so excited for that. Open Range is the perfect modern western. You are going to love it. I've never seen Don't Look Now, so have that to look forward to . . . or should I not look? The horror! 😂

Andrew DeCorse

Can't wait for your Casino reaction. One of my favorite, if not THE favorite, movie of all times.

LET'S GO!!!

If u love Donald Sutherland, u have to watch "Without Limits" (1998). It's personally my favorite performance of his, simply amazing. And the entire film is completely underrated and doesn't get the love it deserves. Produced by Tom Cruise, deserves to get some attention from reactors finally 👍 Happy New Year

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

ST6 and it's not even close. I won't go so far as to say it's better than WoK but in my own personal rankings they are 1A and 1B.

Have you seen these yet? No spoilers for Star Trek 🤣 Looking forward to your first Billy Wilder film on the AFI list, The Apartment (will be an interesting reaction). And Modern Times, coming up soon. And any Criterion films!

John Courtright

Yay! More Star Trek! 🖖 Looking forward to seeing Open Range with you for the first time, Ames!

A fantastic way to start the new year!

You had me at OPEN RANGE.. ❤️❤️❤️

Here's hoping 2025 is the year Ames loses her Terrance Malick virginity...

"Don't Look Now" is a moody, dark, film. Sutherland and Christie at their best. They are so good that there has been controversy for years over whether their realistic sex scene was even acting. You decide. Another Christie/Roeg film that no one has reacted to for some reason is the beautiful "Fahrenheit 451" (1966), based on Ray Bradbury's classic science fiction novel.

Don’t Look Now is a beautiful and heartbreaking film, and not at all what you expect going in. Another great Sutherland horror is Invasion of the Body Snatchers, which also stars Leonard Nimoy

James Rogers

For a tribute to Donald Sutherland I have one word: Klute. And I still say Fellini's Casanova is the real Sutherland horror.

Can’t wait to watch Soong Open Range

if you've done it, just overlook this comment. However, if you haven't seen it, you must must must see Kelly's Heroes. Any veteran, but especialy tank crewmen like me) think this is his best movie. By the way, it also has Clint Eastwood, Telly Savalas, Don Rickles and Carol O'Connor. Even if you don't react to it, you should see it. It's legendary. A good one for Donald Sutherland tribute.

Excited for open range as well

Don't Look Now(!) Excellent choice. Definitely a top 20 film for me but it has what may be my favorite single SHOT of all time (I'll comment later). I saw this at a rep theater when I was in college (decades ago), and the print had the famous lovemaking scene edited out! (hadn't seen the film but had read about it). Don't search for this film on YouTube as some of the stills give away a HUGE spoiler. Director Nicolas Roeg was the DoP for Fahrenheit 451 which has gotten some mentions here; the lovely Julie Christie starred in it and DLN.
