I am having a bit of fun with this one!

Note: typical Ames fashion messing up a poll. Not 2025 YET still time to fix that in the new year. I meant to do Foreign Films for second Animation slot…So do what you feel. I don’t think those will win but none-the-less, I have to represent.

Lol

Here’s to not making (too many) mistakes on polls in 2025🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂

Kelly's Heroes is a war movie AND a heist movie AND Donald Sutherland is in it!

Scifi is my fave, bit it'll do well enough without my vote. Voted for musical (Hamilton), war (Black Book) and spaghetti (Once Upon a Time in the West). None will win, just planting seeds. 😁

Write in: Foreign Films 😂

A Western I’d like you to see (if you haven’t already planned to and I just missed it), is Clint Eastwood’s, The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976). It is what really established him as a director, especially when Orson Welles called him one of America’s best after watching it. I don’t know if it is on any of the AFI lists, but it was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry. As a historian, I love it because, even though it is a work of fiction, it captures the historical aesthetic and feel of the post-Civil War West perfectly. It is unique as a Western and, in my humble opinion, it is Eastwood’s best work from his early period. blah blah blah Forgive the wordiness. I am full of espresso.

‘Specifically Spaghetti’ was my nickname in high school

You have two different “animation” boxes. 😉

Clay F

I am surprised that sci-fi is winning. Shocking. I liked sci-fi books as a kid.

Thomas Richter

Comedy, Action Martial Arts, Western all in one movie: Shanghai Noon (2000) Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson.

RFK Fan

Just clicked on pretty much everything we haven't seen. COMING OF AGE at the top of my list because SOOOO many good films reside under there...

Patrick

*Other* should be a category on this list

Mario

Can votes for both Animations be combined (to give it a fighting chance)?

VivendoBem

The insatiable hunger for SciF-Fantasy largely makes these polls a foregone conclusion every time. Instead, they should probably just have 2 options: SciFi or Non SciFi. Or maybe just have a regular SciFi-Fantasy slot once or twice a month and exclude it from any future poll to give something else, anything else, a chance.

Raieldon

Did my usual of aggregating the top vote getters to see what hits the most bases. So action + comedy + sci-fi + fantasy + not on your checklist + the filmic stature you're accustomed to: -Ghostbusters -Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse -Everything Everywhere All At Once

Catchermag

Thank you for the new poll, Ames. I chose the category ‘Japanese Postwar Allegorical films that explore the Metaphysical Existence of Man’s Desire to Destroy Themselves’…….I know it won’t win but I appreciate you for adding it and calling it ‘Animation’. I’m planning on nominating Godzilla 1954.

Jeb Manning

I might make a suggestion for a movie to react to in the new year, if that's OKay? I would recommend the 1925 silent horror movie The Phantom of the Opera for its 100th anniversary. It's one of the best silent horror films, one of the first of the Universal Monster movies, and is seen as one of the most faithful adaptations to the original book. It's a great time 🙂

Shawn Goforth

On the bright side, at this rate, there soon will be no Sci-Fi movies left.

Jeremy V.

I always vote sci-fi!

Please react to DanDaDan the anime series. Its short and it's total chaos!
