Yay!! I had never seen this until my hubby had me watch it. Hilarious!

Such a quotable movie, one of my favorites. So fun fact, the character Reggie Dunlop was based on a real person, John "Loose Nets" Brophy. He actually got arrested in my hometown Roanoke, Virginia back in the late 1990's after getting into a fight with a bunch of fans and nearly starting a full on riot... 😆😆

This film is cited as Paul's favorite to make. Says alot considering how deep and how GOOD his film catalog is!

Think you’ll love the Hansen brothers

This movie was filmed in Johnstown, PA. It is famous for a giant flood that happened there in the late 1800's. Morley the dog was a yard ornament that was swept away in the flood and later found in the debris and was turned into a statue. I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA about 1 1/2 hours from Johnstown. It was a depressing time in the 70's because of all the steel mills shutting down. I would suggest Cool Hand Luke and The Verdict for a couple awesome Paul Newman films.

I loved the AHL team we had in my town when I was a kid. Slapshot was so true to life! The players were just regular guys who were a part of our community.

Well Ames now you have finally seen the best hockey movie ever. Some good old fashioned hockey right here. Some real stuff in this movie for sure. I always liked that they didn't paint some fairytale image, but showed some heavy stuff. Newman as always is just the best.

Slap Shot was epic. That's the kind of watch a long I'm here for. Non stop laughs and fun. Killer 1970s beaks. Reminds me so much of my favorite sports movie Major League. Best intro ever. With background music from best sports video game ever IYKYK. Where has this movie been my whole life?

Jason Kaiser

You have to watch Goon with Seann William Scott and Liev Schreiber soon. :)

Hollis Hamilton

The Hanson brothers were played by two brothers, Steve and Jeff Carlson, plus Dave Hanson. Dave Hanson actually replaced the third brother, Jack Carlson, because he was called up to his WHA team before filming. He actually played over 500 games in the WHA and NHL.

I decided to rewatch this since it's been a while. Sorry, but I'm a Rangers' fan. But, believe it or not, my favorite player was Ron Hextall of the Flyers. And here's my favorite moment in hockey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dd_csODF64E This is a fantastic movie. I nearly fell in the floor laughing more than a few times. The Hanson Brothers are still around believe it or not and do charity shows occasionally.

Dave's a killer!!! and so is this movie. Your reaction of pure joy during the hockey fights were amazing. Now try another 70's sports comedy - North Dallas Forty (1979) pro football story w/ Nick Nolte and Mac Davis.
