I would have been happy with many of those titles, but particularly psyched for this one! I'm so pissed because I have to go out right this second! I'm going to have to wait till tonight to watch! Gaaaaaa! Great surprise! Can't wait to get home!!!

I think this is Pacino's best ever performance. He's so vulnerable and electrifying to watch. Lumet was a master with actors and he really gets incredible work from everyone in this film. It's one of the greats. Excited to revisit it with you x

This was a nice surprise!! It's funny how you compared the sweat in this film to 12 Angry Men when both films were directed by the same director. Lumet must've been a sweaty man lol

I got excited when I saw that THERE WILL BE BLOOD was the only movie listed until you spun it the wheel... 😂 DDA is one of my fave movies of all time (Sidney Lumet did such a fantastic job) and STILL my fave Pacino performance. Sonny Wortzick is the total opposite of Michael Corleone or Tony Montana it further proves that Pacino OWNED the 70's.. Charles Durning, who played Moretti, was a WW2 hero and the FBI agent was played by Matthew Brodericks father. Sylvia, the redhead, was played by Penelope Allen who was a close personal friend of Pacino's and I think even let him live out of her flat when he was a struggling and broke unknown.

I will never forget that, for whatever reason, I first decided to bring this home for Easter one year. Random choice, but it's amazing, no matter when it's watched. Pacino is definitely one of our greats. I love him in Scent of a Woman, which is what finally won him an Oscar. Some people consider it a sympathy Oscar, but I adore the performance, and the film. You also probably know Leon. Chris Sarandon is well known for such as the Princess Bride (Prince Humperdinck) and the voice of Jack Skellington. The scene with John Cazale almost broke me, too.

One movie I'd recommend is the 1987 American comedy movie Ernest Goes to Camp. I'd recommend it not only because it's a fun one for summer but also to honor the memory of recently passed character actor Gailard Sartain. In this one, Ernest is a handyman at a summer camp who wants to become a camp counselor and is put in charge of a group of juvenile delinquents. He tries to win their respect with the help of the camp's owner and his granddaughter, the camp nurse. Meanwhile, an unscrupulous mining corporation discovers that the camp sits on top of a rare mineral deposit and tries to steal the land. Gailard Sartain plays the camp cook, Jake. Sartain's scenes are a particularly funny highlight. If you did react to it, I'd stick a little through the credits since there's one last joke early on in the credits. It's a fun, goofy little summer camp movie, a good way to keep up the summer vibes, and a good way to honor the life of Gailard Sartain.

Another movie I'd recommend to honor the memory of Gailard Sartain is the 1988 crime thriller Mississippi Burning. It's about the investigation of the murders of three civil rights activists in 1964 Mississippi. In it, Gailard Sartain plays the crooked sheriff of Jessup County, Ray Stuckey. It has a pretty all star cast with actors like Gene Hackman, Willem Dafoe, Frances McDormand, Michael Rooker, Brad Dourif, R. Lee Ermey, and, of course, Gailard Sartain. It's also a really important movie since it doesn't sugarcoat the vicious racism of the 1960's. I think it'd make for a pretty great reaction.

Carol Kane & Lance Henriksen in early roles. Dominic Chianese (uncle from the sopranos) played his dad.

Gripping performance by Al Pacino. That guy you recognized as the android from Aliens is a detective in The Terminator. Suggested Al Pacino movies: Donnie Brasco (1997), Heat (1995), Scent of a Woman (1992), Serpico (1973) (also directed by Sidney Lumet), and Scarface (1983). I think you have now reacted to all of the John Cazale movies.

Ames, many of the actors in the supporting cast were from the New York stage, and several of them were performers that Pacino had worked with before in the theater. While preparing for the film, Lumet had everyone do a lot of rehearsing. Much of the dialogue you hear was not originally scripted, but improvised during rehearsals and then used when the movie was shot. That's part of why it feels so real, almost like a documentary. Dog Day Afternoon is my favorite Sidney Lumet movie. My second favorite is Running On Empty. If you've never seen that one, I highly recommend it.

John A

One of the great performances from Pacino. and Cazale. Never get tired of watching this movie. You have seen all of John Cazale movies. and every movie of his was great. John Cazale already knew he had not much time when he filmed The Deer Hunter, in fact The Deer Hunter was not release until after his death.
