Janeway knows

This is a great start to the season

Melissa Snodgrass wrote this episode and also "Measure of a Man." It's obvious she enjoyed writing for Data. (She also wrote the Data-centric "Pen Pals" from Season 2, which unfortunately didn't win in that season's poll.) Question: It's okay if this isn't practical, but you mentioned previously you would try to start doing two episodes of Trek a week. Is that still in the cards? (If not, totally understandable.)

With regards to the uniforms, in seasons one and two, the one piece leotards or spandex they wore were always one size too small on purpose to avoid wrinkles because the creator Gene Roddenberry believed there would be no wrinkles in the future. After wearing these for a while, the actors were either having back problems, or their doctors were saying that they would soon have back problems if they kept wearing these costumes, so they decided to change them for the main characters, but not the extras and background characters. As you noticed in the previous episode, the season 3 uniform is 2 pieces, and looks bulkier because it is actually the right size for the actors and cotton instead of spandex.

Just watched. You asked at the end if this was what people meant by a ‘filler’ episode. I’ll say that for me, yes it is. But it’s great that you like them! Really digging the ride, thanks Ames!

I've never considered this a "Filler" episode because not only do we get character development from Data but also get to see Picard's Diplomatic skills.

Riker is thicker. Filling out. No longer the thin no-beard Riker of S1 in appearance. That guy called Data "a walking calculator." A good Data episode. Plus, Picard being the awesome dude he is.

I always skip the theme song in any show. Nobody has time for that. Back in the day that wasn't possible and we got a lot less done.

As always great fun watching a Data episode with you. Loved your reaction to Picard shutting down the Sheliac and chilling while not answering their call .
