The Trouble with Harry (1955) Notorious (1946) NEW SUBSTITION: Family Plot (1976) xxxx DELETE:On Golden Pond (1981) xxxx wheel winner, just seen. xxxx (I don't know why I bother. My choices never get votes. [wink] i need to learn how to insert emoticons in these comments, I guess.) More on... The Trouble with Harry - oddball Hitchcock comedy, a sort of rural-Vermont rom-com with a dead body plonked down in its midst. John Forsythe may come off a little lukewarm, but Edmund Gwenn (Kris Kringle from Miracle of 34th Street) and Mildred Natwick (a much-seen supporting player of the time) provide sparkle aplenty. But the most sparkle comes from the ingenue, a true Hollywood legend making her film debut (I won't tell who for now. Just be ready for the "Introducing..." credit at the end of the opening, and don't be surprised if you gasp.) On Golden Pond - Henry Fonda's final film, and a rare pairing with daughter Jane Fonda, with the bonus attraction of Katharine Hepburn in top form, as a family with old wounds that need healing. Notorious - One of Hitchcock's best thrillers, starring Ingrid Bergman, Cary Grant, and Claude Rains all in top form. Ingrid invades a ring of postwar neo-Nazis, and the stakes couldn't be higher.

I changed my nominations to eliminate On Golden Pond, the wheel winner just added. I selected... Family Plot (1976) ...Hitchcock's last film, and a semi-comic one. That makes my choices three from Hitchcock. (But I'm really rooting for The Trouble with Harry from 1955.)
