Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989)

Comments

A most excellent reaction! This film helped shape my sense of humor and it's just one of those you can put on and be in a better mood after. If you want more there is Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey from 1991 and Bill and Ted Face the Music from 2020.

Man I haven’t seen this in 30+ years. Just as silly as I remembered, but that’s ok. This, Wayne’s World, Airheads, and the old 90’s Beavis & Butthead cartoons were all in the same wheelhouse. Not meant to be anything more than what it is. Fun! And George Carlin is one of the most legendary standup comics of his time. Starting in the 70’s & moving forward for the next 30 years, his standup act was as good as it gets imho… Fun rxn Mrs. A.

This movie kinda reminds me of Ames. Looking forward to seeing her thoughts because I think she’ll love it. Wayne’s World and other films were influenced by it. I can’t think of anything on Earth that is anything like it before it existed lol

Enjoyed your reaction. R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen. "Strange things are afoot at the Circle-K." First watched this movie shortly after released -- on VHS. The movie had impact on pop culture, e.g., w/people repeating one-liners. We saw George Carlin (awesome) [who is Rufus] doing stand-up in a decent size venue in Lake Charles, Louisiana in about 1990. We loved it. Some in the audience were offended and walked out.

I unironically love Excellent Adventure. I loved it in junior high, and I still love it. It just exudes joy and optimism and a sincere love of 80's rock music. Even though people always compare it to Wayne's World, they feel like totally different entities to me. Wayne's World feels like, well, two adults performing their SNL characters, like a parody of a love of rock music, rather than the real thing.

"Just a minor Oedipal complex" gets me every time. Just a fun watch. A most triumphant reaction. Alex Winter (Bill) may not have had the career that Keanu has had but he does have a couple of interesting credits. Freaked (1993) is a horror/comedy he stars in and also co-wrote and co-directed. He also directed the most excellent documentary Zappa (2020).
