Dredd, even if just for the Slo-Mo😵‍💫

C

Strangely enough, The Shape of Water is much more a drama than SciFi. Great list overall as well.

pickupthepieces

Aliens is classic scifi movie. Did you see Alien (the first movie) already?

John Brennan

Err... Excuse me!! Where is Blade Runner?!!!!! ;)

RFK Fan

THE SHAPE OF WATER a mini masterpiece..it just works on every level… Guaranteed to bring a smile every time…

Taz

Lost in space was one of the worst things I ever saw which I still remember fondly !!! What a time to be alive #Joey!

Taz

Dredd (2012) has a cult!!! Wow didn’t expect that

Bubba Fett

That quite a list to pick from!!! Ton of gems and a few good hidden ones!

Big Willie Dickins

For me it's always First Time watches only. Even if you think you don't remember the movie it doesn't have that freshness of a move never before seen

John Courtright

I had to throw in a vote for David Cronenberg's cult classic The Fly.

Jason

I give up. 🙁

JM63

Aliens is awesome ofc, but it's been done a lot. Dredd was just so unexpectedly good (saw it on a plane)

Shawn Goforth

I would echo Jeff's support for Demolition Man. I know it's cheesy, but I think the content (story & dialogue) lends itself well to reaction comments, more so than some of the others, where we may just be sitting in quiet for long periods of time, enjoying a great movie.

Spooky Dooky

Lol I voted for 14 of these movies

Spooky Dooky

Demolition Man is my #1 favorite. Because it has the most wit and sarcasm. Love it!

Nathan

My favorites you have already seen! So, how about a Dune rewatch? :D j//k but looking forward to the sequel, but won't blame you if you go see it at the theater first. With that in mind, FYI Since you seemed to like Dune: IMAX is giving North American audiences a chance to see DUNE: PART TWO early. On February 25 there is a Fan First Premiere, exclusively in IMAX: https://bit.ly/3vOXRQq Maybe you give us a review afterwards?

Nathan

Suggested for next sci-fi poll: Interstellar (top-notch!) Children of Men (rather dark, and gritty, but very tense and well-done) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (if that's considered sci-fi?) Planet of the Apes (2010) The above are much more serious, like in the Dune vein, so not so good if you like your sci-fi lighter adventures, or cheesier, or with a splash of comedy or comic moments. If that's the case, then: The Last Starfighter (very 1980s!)

Spooky Dooky

Did everyone see Ames's reaction for KPax? Great movie...

Clay F

Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986) are awesome I like Sigourney Weaver.

JM63

Looks like Aliens is streaming on Crave Starz and Disney+ in Canada. Probably theatrical cut (the DC doesn't seem to be widely available). I think the differences are minimal, either is fine.

Clay F

I am glad that Aliens won the poll. Are you going to react to Alien first or go straight to the sequel Aliens? Either way is fine I guess, but the two are related.
