Thank you guys so so much for being here! I am still so upset about the Oppie Sound. I might figure out a dub of some sort... LOL

RAMBO: First Blood Watch Along

This was actually a really good movie. If they had let it stand on it's own instead of turning Rambo into a comic book character in the later sequels it would get the respect it deserves.

Hope B.C.. … BIGFOOT country! 😜👍

I want to see a dub like a spaghetti western or kung-fu. Don't even watch the movie, just base it on your facial expressions

Teasle: He was just another drifter who broke the law! Trautman: Vagrancy wasn't it? That's gonna look real good on his grave stone in Arlington: Here lies John Rambo, winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor, survivor of countless incursions behind enemy lines. Killed for vagrancy in Jerkwater, USA. Great casting of Brian Dennehy and Richard Crenna!

For anyone who might be new here, I work as a regional manager for a metropolitan public library system. A lot of my day-to-day is centered around providing resources for under-served communities, and working directly with the chronically homeless to try to pull them out of that situation. I thought the moment that Will characterizes Johnny as a "drifter" was truly accurate to the heavily political conversations I've had with local officials, as well as the relationships I've built with law enforcement agencies, neighborhood police officers, downtown developers, etc. Everyone is very careful to not use the word homeless when they are describing the undesirable social elements they do not want to exist in their service area or town, but that is absolutely what he means when he is commenting on John's appearance and smell, saying if he lets him stay, first thing you know, we'll have a whole bunch of you guys in town. Social awareness surrounding homeless veterans really came into public view during the 80s (it was even dropped in Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire." I'm so glad it got highlighted in such a mainstream action film. I was able to successfully introduce a programming initiative last year, where our organization is now assisting homeless veterans by educating them about available local resources, assisting with translating their skills into something they can communicate to the civilian workforce, during job searches, and providing a safe place to talk with one another in an effort to reinforce a sense of community support. If you know of anyone who is needing help, there are 120,000 libraries in the U.S. with trained staff who are able to provide guidance.

I strongly echo William's sentiments, Shawn. Bless you and all those who provide such services and resources to under-served and chronically homeless communities! And congratulations on the programming initiative you introduced last year! The impact of the work you do on behalf of others may be difficult to measure, but can be life-changing and often life-saving! Thank you for the reminder that our nation's libraries are a critical resource in providing such assistance, and thank you for personally taking the initiative within your sphere of influence! You are an inspiration! 🛡️

It's definately underrated as a "typical" 80s action movie but it touches some big themes and is very nuanced. PTSD in particular.

First off, yes, the Pacific Northwest gets my vote for the most beautiful region in North America, certainly the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. I have sworn to my wife, many times, that I will take her there before we are too old. Though I must admit, I wasn’t too keen on shoveling bear poop out of the yard. Second, Stallone has made a lot of silly films, but he has also done some extremely good work. His performance in Cop Land (1997) really, really blew me away, unlike anything I’d seen him do before. Meanwhile, Brian Dennehy is one of my favorite actors, ever. My wife and I saw him appear on stage in Twelfth Night at the Stratford, Ontario Shakespeare Festival during our honeymoon. He had a massive stage presence.

Now that you have seen this you have no choice but to fast follow with Rocky. It's kind of the law. Can't be helped. You'll be glad you did it though.

Okay, Hope, B.C. We have Phoenixville, Pa. where the movie "The Blob" was filmed. It was Steve McQueen's first major movie role in 1958. Every year they have a "Blob" Festival and you all can be extras in recreating the famous scene of panicked movie-goers fleeing out of Phoenixville's old Colonial Theater! (Still standing, after all these years.) I mean, what else is there in Phoenixville? Punxatawney, Pa. has Phil the Groundhog, and that's allllll Folks!

This is based on the novel of the same name. Many veterans personally thanked author David Morrell for writing this story because it did bring a lot of focus on what those Vietnam vets had to go through. The vets were spit on, harassed, and called baby killers by an anti-war public that didn’t have all the facts at the time. Even worse is the fact the soldiers didn’t choose to go over there, they were ordered to fight in that war but they took the brunt of the criticism.
