Don't want to give any spoilers, but I think it's pretty clear this episode strongly influenced the TNG pilot, "Encounter at Farpoint" (co-written by Gene Rodenberry). It's a silly, fun episode, but there's another reason why John and I put it on the list. Again, to avoid spoilers, I won't mention it until you've seen the other recommended episodes. Nice to see the Starfleet uniform again, Science Officer Ames!

Enjoyed this. The uniform suits you. Spock is half human. His mother is human. Spock: "I object to you. I object to intellect without discipline. I object to power without constructive purpose." Trelane: "Oh, Mr. Spock, you do have one saving grace after all: you're ill-mannered. The Human half of you, no doubt?"

It's nice to see Spock in command of the ship once Sulu and Kirk disappear! When Scottie requests to accompany the landing team, Spock quite correctly says, "No, Mr Scott! Neither you nor I can be spared here." Of course, then he immediately sends McCoy! It's logical, but it's also hilarious!! LOL.
