On this page, there’s a prep sketch of Anastasia the arctic fox. This turned into “Yiff & Nomz”, which is a painful pun on the UMO album “Sex & Food”, which itself very loosely inspired the layout (FA | e621). There’s also a couple fossa sketches at the bottom, which turned into “Endless Summer” (FA | e621). Both girls badly want some more attention, and if they're not content with cameos they'll need to wait a bit...

Waterproof phone cases are popular with otters for all the obvious reasons, but how they wear them leaves some room for personal preference. Lanyard-style around the neck is probably a little cumbersome but it’s easy to do some browsing in your downtime while fishing the shallows. It strikes me that, especially for same-sex groups in which long days are spent in unremarkable nudity, the betrayal of idle excitement isn’t really all that scandalous. And while it’s hard not to notice that kind of unabashed swelling, apparently it’s what’s on his screen that arouses more curiosity. This was on its way to becoming a full scene before I tabled it, but the idea never went away.

Further down are some more aquatic mammals. I have a vague and recurring interest in seals, but this rarely progresses beyond exploratory sketches. I think it's that they somehow manage to be graceful and ungainly at the same time. Short fur gives them smooth lines and gentle curves, but they’ve got a lot of weight to throw around between those wide hips and ponderous breasts. At least the way I want to draw them. I do wonder if a head of hair would clash with the sleek look too much…

Putting some finishing touches on the martens, so sit tight :)

Always love your world building... I'd imagine amongst otters those armband holsters are popular, if not some kind of belted one. Streamlining I think would be paramount to them! I haven't fully decided yet myself, but lately I've really wanted to take some time to consider world building myself... I'm finding myself possibly on the cusp of two separate universes, or two timelines within the same one! In general, I want to be much, much more productive overall this year. Gonna try my best!

These sketches are lovely as always

The otter fishermen and smartphones idea looks like neat worldbuilding! I hope we'll get to see more of this scene or idea someday 🦦💖

DeltaRedWolf

Really loving the sassy expressions on those seal gals! 💕

Love your interpretation of seals, and the otter fishers looks like a fun scene! Neat worldbuilding details in how they act. I also like how you can parse out bits of world lore just by their decoration (looks like one's got a tail sleeve or pouch, for instance) and the way the might carry their phones. I've always preferred bicep phone holsters myself, but those thick tails certainly lend some room for carrying things.

I love how you think about social nudity, and the logistics of things like carrying a phone around. <3

Working around that lack of pockets is one of the more fun design challenges for nudist settings. It kinda forces the characters to get creative.

I ADORE outfitting thick-tailed species with tail pouches whenever I can. The bicep holster is another option I want to try. There's a lot of interesting solutions when conventional pockets just aren't an option.

It's one of those concepts I really want to get back to. They've got a job to do that only benefits from wearing as little as possible and I think it's worth exploring.

I've got some good incentive to be more productive this year too -- I'm wishing both of us luck! A little worldbuilding can go a long way (and it's just a fun exercise too). I try not to ever get too heavy on exposition, cause I want the piece to be able to stand on its own. I'm curious about these separate timelines you're considering!

Seals! I love how cute they look.

Love it. I honestly think that the bald and sleek look is a great style choice for the seals. They've such an iconic shape to their heads that covering it up would *almost* be a crime. Not to mention a pain in the butt when you're swimming and your hair gets in your eyes or tangled up. Maybe something punkish and short. Again, you're a master at a round heft, not to mention gravid, in this case. It's something I want to learn, for certain.
