“We got drinks at this place in the naturist district I’ve been wanting to check out. I honestly didn’t think he’d be into it, but he said sure. Which was nice. I could kinda tell it’s not his usual scene, but he was cool about it. Oh, and he’s actually a really good listener.”

A couple of pine martens getting to know each other. Maybe he’s earned himself a second date. I’ve been spending more time poking into this little city and learning about the kind of folks who seem to call it home. Mentally wandering the streets and discovering its cultural quirks. Not with any master-planning or narrative goals, though a basic map would probably help me keep things straight.

It's definitely a city (and district) I'd love to visit sometime! I've done similar "mental wandering" through some of my own settings as well and it's a fun way to surprise yourself with what you discover. This is a really cute scene, too!

A little detail I love is the way you handle the paw pads in the hands. And of course the world building as you take us to different sections of the city. :D

There's a sensual quality to hand pads, and I adore it when I see it done well. So I'm always on this personal quest to capture that feeling. I do try to match the style of pawpads on their hands and feet.

I think maybe this is one of the reasons we create these worlds -- so we can visit them for ourselves :) And it's not always obvious what kind of shape it will take at the outset.

The city is Nambassa, which I realize I haven't mentioned before. It's situated on the coast, so most beach scenes I've drawn take place here too. I'll have to dig up a map of the area at some point...

A fair question, and one I should think about answering in future pics. My guess is there's a backpack or satchel just out of frame. But I've also had hats with a little pocket on the inside top for cash and cards, so maybe that's her solution...

Thanks man! I've really been trying to dial in my personal approach to color. That Delta piece I did last year hit a mark that I want to replicate. I don't think this piece ended up quite as harmonious in a color range aspect, but it's a step in the right direction.

Every one of these naturist district pics you do makes me so happy. How I'd love to live in a place like this! I've actually integrated a 'naturist district' into an ongoing slice-of-life RP I've been running; it developed spontaneously, or so I thought, but there's no way you weren't the subconscious inspiration there. ^v^ Can't wait to see you explore the neighborhood more!
