Is it such a terrible fate?

Some of my earliest exposure to furry artwork in like its strictest sense involved a juxtaposition of space travel and nudity. I encountered this kind of thing in some vague ways before but it really sinks the hook in when you see it in pictures. Sometimes it's the crew of those ships, and sometimes it's the locals of a distant world on which you find yourself an unexpected guest. Hopefully a welcome one.

I didn't make him a pine marten exactly, but they were on my mind and were a kind of obvious inspiration. The climate here probably isn't too friendly to such a species, so let's say I just made up my own for the occasion.

I guess the question at that point is whether you hope the distress beacon activated or hope it didn't.

This is absolutely wonderful

Admiral Storm

This looks awesome! I look forward to seeing it completed and more of this type of scenario/setting. Would be fun to see it expanded on.

>Space travel >Nudity >Furries All the Starfox and Rocket Raccoon fans, I bet! And truthfully, how much of a juxtaposition is it, really? Most aliens in films are usually wandering around without clothes too, so maybe it isn't such a far fetched concept! :D

If all that stands between me and a life of nudism with some naked furry tribal folk is a distress beacon, I would be considered lost in space X3 And yeah, there's just something so appealing about nudity juxtaposed with the futuristic imagery of scifi. Something so natural and primal contrasted with the sleek metals and plastics of spacecrafts or colonies in the stars just hits different. I'm very much looking forward to the finished piece here! I'd love to be rescued by this handsome fella :3

Now I'm curious what was the artwork that "activated" this in you! (I wonder if I've seen it too, lol.)

I love seeing your WIP, they are both informative and give so much insight to your creative process. :D

Brocade

I appreciate all of the pine martens you’ve been drawing lately

Hah, I'd go native so fast...

For real, it's remarkable how rare clothing is among alien races in media. Of course I could still ask for a little anatomical correctness... haha

You won't have to wait much longer at all for that finished piece! It's that contrast of nudity and spacecrafts that really gets me, like an implication that this society has come full circle in a way that kind of honors its roots. I'm not going to be the best artist to render spacecraft interiors, but there are a few scenes that have been knocking around in my head for a while...

Kalahari

They're always super cute, and I've been on a bit of a marten kick ^^

The very earliest were some pieces by Max Blackrabbit for a commissioner's spacefaring cat and fox OCs, but I don't think these exist in anyone's galleries today... There was also all the Chakat artwork that seemed really prevalent around this period. It set in me the idea that future societies don't just need to be dressed in cyberpunk attire to sell the setting x3

It's been great knowing there's an audience for it. Most of this wouldn't normally ever see the light of day!

Yeah! It gives possible new methods to incorporate into my own work. It is after all how artists develop overtime, slowly taking bits and pieces from other artists they enjoy to make something their own from those parts.
