Away from the pack on a dayslong hunting and ranging journey. Hot and tired with no feasible prey in sight, what can he do but take a break and think of home.

Hyaenodon horridus lived about 30 million years ago, from the Eocene through the Miocene. They belong to a group of mammals that used to be called creodonts (now placed in Hyaenodonta) separate from but evolving alongside members of the order Carnivora. I get a strong desire once in a while to visit some of these ancient places and their (furry) inhabitants.

An alt is attached! I wonder who he's thinking of...

Love it! excited to see your next piece

Poor guy is so pent up and stressed. But less so now!

Rasik

Maybe he is thinking about daughter of his tribe’s chief? Or maybe son? Hehe ) Very hot art!

Really great pic, he’s very handsome and the background is beautiful. I love the alt, that looks so satisfying! I hope he gets to have some fun with whoever he’s fantasising about when he gets back to the pack 😉 (Btw, I’ve messaged you on FA about that story idea 🙂)

Plot twist: "Man, I gotta take five... That mangoes cave art got me acting up while I'm supposed to be hunting!" I love the clouds in this piece! The place also looks lush and florally fragant!

Kalahari

I imagine it's something they've seen before, and across multiple species :)

Kalahari

They probably think he's hopelessly horny... but I don't think rhinos are much different ;)

Kalahari

Very possible (either of them!)

Kalahari

If he comes home with a kill I'm sure it'll be a time to remember :) I'll check it out when FA is back up!

Wow, a tale as old as time huh x3 I badly wanted to work on my clouds, as sort of a back-to-basics thing, since I can render them in basically any piece that shows a blue sky. I've been really happy with a more structural approach, rather than making them overly puffy.

Stewart

That would be a very effective incentive! 😆
