Welcome to the newest Fizz Hangout! Every Friday, you all can stop by the weekly Fizz Hangout post and ask questions (to us or to your fellow patrons), discuss recent bonus scenes and/or podcasts with each other, and catch up on all the goodies you might've missed!

Weekly Recap

Happy Friday, magical & heroic beauties!! The birds are chirping, the sun is out, we have finally done it! We turned in the book 🎉 Cue the confetti! We still have rounds of edits that we're going through and multiple rereads, but the looming deadline for Webs We Weave Book 2 is no more. It feels really good to come out of our writing cave and breathe some fresh air. We've felt more MIA these past couple months, and we're going to rectify that this summer. We LOVE Patreon, and we have so many fun things planned. We can't wait to get back into the world of the Hales, Meadows, and Cobalts!

ICYMI: IMPORTANT NEWS

Once we sell out of our current inventory, we will be transitioning the store from signed books to signed bookplates.

What does that mean? The signatures won't be inside the book but your book will automatically come with a bookplate with both of our signatures.

Why the change? We no longer live together, so it's more difficult to carve out time away from writing to drive up to sign books. Bookplates are our solution, since we can ship them to each other.

If you REALLY need to finish your collection with signed books, NOW is the time to order them. Once a book sells out, the next time it's for sale on the store it will be signed via bookplate. (There will be an indicator when you're ordering a book signed via bookplate. As of right now, all signatures are inside the book.)

I recently watched The Fall of the House of Usher on Netflix, and I really enjoyed that! :) I’m currently reading Vicious by VE Schwab and I’m loving all the moral greyness in it, it’s quite refreshing!

Have you read Beartown by Fredrik Backman? It’s so different from what I usually read, but I completely obsessed over it when I finished it back in March. It was so easy to read but it has such a unique writing and narrative style, and some really interesting characters. The plot was super compelling and it was all I could talk about for weeks! Hockey is a huge part of the book so if you’re into that at all then I definitely think it’s worth giving a try :)

I’m currently reading the Bad Reputation collector’s edition (which I haven’t read before) and Fearless Like Us with the Like Us Book Club. This reading combination has me super excited for People Like Us. I’m also still powering through A Court of Silver Flames. I will get through this book! I just think I haven’t been in a romantasy mood for a bit. I tend to like to read romantasy in the fall and early winter. For movies, I got really into The Idea of You last weekend, which had parts that reminded me a bit of the paparazzi in the HMC universe. I also recently watched Anyone But You - which I LOVED! Such a cute romcom. I’m hoping to see Challengers soon too, but will probably need to wait until it hits streaming. We’re big into historicals, so we spent much of the week watching The New Look on Apple TV. I got really into some of the characters in this because I thought the acting was great. Especially Maisie Williams. This is the first role I’ve seen her in other than Arya Stark in GoT and I thought she was great. I hope she’s given more roles, she was one of my favorite actors in GoT. I’m looking forward to seeing what others’ suggest! I spent my lunch break trying to find things to watch this weekend and unsure of what to pick, so this post comes at the perfect time!

Been reading FLU in the Book Club and read To Catch a Firefly by Emmy Sanders (so damn good) Been listening to a lot of music and have been on a search for songs that remind me of CE characters (like MCR and Rise Against for Tom)… but here are a few that have been on repeat for Charlie and Roxanne specifically - Can you hear me? - Munn Half a Man - Dean Lewis Lost at Sea (Stripped version) - Vincent Lima Little Bit Better - Caleb Hearn & Rosie The Tortured Poets Department - Taylor Swift And Fall by St. Lundi is such a Cobalt brothers song for them that I love love love 💙 tell me it’s not a love letter from Eliot 🥹💙 Lionheart (strings version)- Joel Corry & Tom Grennan (just a Ben song for your listening pleasure) Also, But Daddy I Love Him sounds like Taylor Swift read Raisy and put their story to song! It’s literally them and I adore it 💛😍

I just realized that I forgot to say congratulations on finishing book 2! I can’t imagine how hard that must’ve been, especially since you hadn’t really looked at the WWW universe for a while when you started it. I am so excited for Dishonestly Yours! It looks like a fantastic read! I am sure it will be my book of the summer. I’ve become a KBR super fan. I love everything you’ve written so much.

Good morning sunshines! ⛅️⛅️☀️ AHHH congrats on the deliverable you guys just made! Done andd dusted! 🌼✔️✔️🗳️🗳️ WHAT an accomplishment! I am so excited for you guys! And it’s great to feel you can be back and more present on Patreon! 🎉In my mind, I like to think of our Patreon community as a fairyland (think Krakoa!) except you guys are the ONLY quiet council members :P So whilst you are AFK, the country moves on and is totally self-sufficient and there is still so much to enjoy, but the absence is missed! Or the, “the inbetween” period of sports seasons! 😚 Anyway i’ll get back to the blog post and refer to the ones you so kindly replied to yesterday! Wohoo! 🦾 Re Movies/TV Right now bc of my job, likewise like you guys, I think i’m only watching reality tv! So: Vanderpump, Survivor S4, The Valley and Jersey. 🫡 I tried giving the Yellowstone verse a go, but then got quiet cold feet bc of the amount of animal cruelty? So i put that on pause to ask after you guys, if it at all tones down? 🤯Obviously rancher life makes sense you hang with animals everyday but idk, it's so HARD to see it still? Does it get better? Or stay the same? 👀 I also just finished Shogun which i recommended before… and I think it was good… but i still think that the shogun storytelling as concept remains more compelling in Blue Eye Samurai ⚔. BES That is for all intents and purposes, still the best show i’ve seen all year. Shoguns main “pull” factor is that there is a lot of Machiavellian master planning behind the scenes you’re waiting for unravelling, but I feel like I spent more time waiting for the pin to drop then actually feeling total intrigue. But that’s just my opinion! Blue Eye Samurai felt like it was forcing less the mastermind/manipulator trope and it just *lands* with the audience. You guys really like shows that are med related! Or like, an ensamble soap opera meets band of brothers vibe? skymed sounds very much like that firefighter soap you guys were loving back in Sept. Could these soaps at all be inspo for more delicious marrow content? 😩😝 *fingers crossed tight* hehe Also! going to move the next and last point i’ll mention today… Re X-Men/X-Men ’97! I have been watching it! And I really quite enjoy it! 🫢 It’s not really comic book accurate just like how we always talk about how writers’ group in X-Men push their biases, X-men ’97 is no exception. I gave my two cents pending on this chat under the… April 26th Weekly Hangout hehe. 😇 But I do wanna follow up on the X-Men Hale insights you replied to! I learned SO much from you guys oh my goodness my Headcanon brain was on fire due to excitment haha (what a visual). 1. I find it really compelling to find out LiLo are really not Jott fans 🧐. Especially, like i said in the past, they might compare to the trope of childhood friends to lovers trope, and kind of how much cyclops does not care about the collateral damage he does when his relationship with Jean is on the line. Which maybe Lo could relate to? 🤔🤔 but also Lo wouldn’t be like like Cyclops goes yeeeet to a family, son, relationship with Emma. It seems like he has rabies when Jean is around and all conduct and formalities, character development go out of the window if it means being J-Grey’s number 1 guy (lol I’m watching the Valley show too much im quoting Jax now hahaha) 😝. Bc also, they did dress up as them for his halloween party? I’m not at all DISPUTING you btw, i don’t like them either, i think scemma is more compelling and has a very underrated trope which is, “ur first love doesn’t mean it’s ur last or most important one”/second chances/come out stronger trope. i hate how the X-writers keep ship wars a thing when its like, 2024, ship wars are out of style frfr. They confirmed that they are still together in the new era as well. But i do agree with when you said Jean is unrelatable. she has a grandiose sense of self-importance in the X-Men when the hard reality is that they did fine and didn’t fall off the bandwagon when she wasn’t around. Also the hypocrisy, of always having the door open for Wolverine?! Like in Morrison’s Cyclops and Emma might have had an emotional affair ,but you were bumping and grinding Wolverine 🫨. Anyway… 2. On the topic of X-Men relationships, aside from Hellion and Laura Kinney off course, who are LiLo’s favourite couples and why? 🤗 3. I’m sure that LiLo hateeee Tony and Emma ship right now huh. It was teased that they might even be in the next X-Men era. IDK… 😮‍💨 4. They did hint that Hellion is coming back in the X-men Era starting this summer! I haddddd to tell you the news! 😱 5. On a final note, you mentioned on the cellphone snooping extra that a lot of the Hale family members have DC and Marvel unlimited on the phones. Is that to mean that they prefer reading comics on their phones over the ipads for example? Who would be pro and against the smart panels function? Do LiLo prefer reading on Iphone or Ipad? :D Or do all family members just read on both? 📱📱 On a personal note, thank you for the well wishes of my new gig. It’s super exciting, and I’m on my second week, and it seems to be going pretty well! But man, the biggest gossip is to see all the partners and senior partners have all this soap opera power play drama, and i’m just under them like spectating and like pass the popcorn. Ok. I feel like I’ve posted on this waaay too much, but I am watching Mother of the Bride on Netflix and it seems like a KBR must watch - Brooke Shields is the FMC (reading FLU right now and Shields is on my brain due to all the Blue Lagoon references) and Chad Michael Murray (Eeek! One Tree Hill!) is a possible Shields love interest. I almost did not recognize him, except his voice is still a dead giveaway. Also Benjamin Bratt is the other MC for any Law & Order fans (or super fans of Sandra Bullock and her romcoms like Miss Congeniality).

The Valley has been surprisingly good!! I was shocked, but VPR just hasn’t been the same for a while. And it feels like the Valley has the same chaotic energy that VPR used to. I’m actually not sure if there are more scenes with animal cruelty. It’s usually hard for me to watch, but it doesn’t stick out to me in a way that I’d remember. I actually love 1923 more than Yellowstone, but I’m still unsure about the animals. Ohhh that’s interesting about Shogun! Does it watch like a crime drama in that sense? Yes, we LOVE med shows. We grew up watching ER. It’s probably a bit of why we both had an interest in the medical field. I noped out first, then Krista did really at last second (she interviewed for med school and took the MCAT) — but not bc she didn’t love medicine. She just loved writing more. Yes, SkyMed is a lot like Fire Country in a way, but I actually prefer SkyMed bc it’s a tad bit soapier and there’s more relationship drama and a full late-twenties, thirties cast. SkyMed def made me miss the Like Us series!! I’m a sucker for professionals working together and having to live together (and bonus points if they save lives!). It reminded me of SFO in a way! I’ve just started X-Men ’97! The first episode was so good! I like that they have Sunspot in the “younger mutant coming in” role. Krista is much farther ahead, and she said it’s really good. 1. I definitely think that Lo does not like Cyclops as a character *as much* when he’s with Jean. I think that’s the main difference. I’m not sure he would relate Cyclops and Jeans’ relationship to himself and Lily. I just can’t imagine Lo relating Lil to JG. But this is very, very much going off of how we felt when we were reading comics while we were writing Addicted to You over ten years ago, and we based our preferences on what Lo & Lily would like. So to me, knowing how I felt when I initially read some of the lines at the time, they wouldn’t care for anything Jean is in. They read the comic lines where Emma Frost is with Scott (basically New Mutants/New X-Men), so those are going to be the ones they have nostalgic attachment to, as well. So I guess this is the long-winded way of saying, they have nostalgic attachment more to Scott with Emma. 2. I have this theory that Lily would’ve liked Dani Moonstar and Cannonball during what I think is The Fall of The New Mutants. Where they flirted HEAVILY and a romance was pretty implied. But it never really…took off after that. As you prob know. Lily would’v been gutted! Lo would’ve been like, “They weren’t a thing. They were never a thing.” Lol! I also think they like Polaris/Havok, and in the new stuff, Rictor and Shatterstar. 4. OMG HELLION IS COMING BACK?!?!!? I need no other reason than to catch up than this one! My X-Men binge is starting soon. It’s on! 5. I think they would also read on iPad, but sometimes it’s just easier/more accessible to whip out your phone and read if you find yourself without your tablet. Loren Hale is more a purist, so he’s not typically reading with smart panels. Lily, on the other hand, is a girl after my own heart bc she’s clicking those smart panels left and right lol.
