Friendship Evolution Then & Now: Charlie Cobalt & Luna Hale

From the books we see Luna and Charlie’s relationship is similar to Lily and Connor’s as they had type of friendship that had no judgment and they had genuine care for each other. Whilst writing the development and storyline of Charlie and Luna’s friendship was it intentional or is it similarity you see now as some people point it out.

in CLU charlie says he edits luna’s fics because “he’s a genius who doesn’t give a shit.” and he’ll “edit her tentacle smut without batting an eye” (i love that line btw) was that an honest answer to jacks question? is that the only reason he edits her fics? or it another way for him to help one of his cousins because it’s something that luna can’t ask moffy to do? is editing something he enjoys to do? or does he actually like her stories and thinks they have potential?

That sort of thing requires SO much trust and faith in the other person not to make fun of you or use that extremely personal information against you in any way. I know if someone asked me to essentially guard their deepest secrets for them, I would totally melt and it'd definitely make me reevaluate our relationship, so I'm just curious if Charlie had any strong feelings about that. Follow up q: after he read her dournal that night, did his opinion of Luna shift in any way?

In ULU Luna says that she thinks Charlie will go after people who can handle his shit and give it back to him & basically said he’s only nice to her because she’s weak, would Charlie agree? How does this relate to Ben and Charlie’s relationship? What does Charlie think about Luna’s relationship with him in regard to Moffy? Does he wonder why Luna picked him as her memory guardian? This probably is a spolier question and you probably won’t answer it, but when Charlie invited Luna to move to New York thought out the series and she said no & he responded that it’s probably for the best- did he really mean that or did he secretly want her there and he tried to sound unaffected? How does he feel about her moving to NY now?

Also, this is totally off topic for this podcast but I’ve been wondering for a while. In NLU during the superbowl- why did you pick that the Eagles played against the Buffalo Bills? I’m just curious because I’m from Buffalo and a Bills fan, so it was really exciting for me to see them in a superbowl (even if it was “fictional”)?

What was Luna and Charlie's relationship like when they were kids/teens? I *think* Luna has mentioned that she's always liked Charlie, but what did Charlie think of Luna? Their age gap isn't very big at all so I'm assuming they would have interacted a decent amount when they were younger

In the bonus scene where Luna opens up to Charlie about her amnesia, Charlie ends up telling her the truth about what he said to Donnelly. In Luna's internal monologue, she notes that his body language is a bit stiffer after his confession and she thinks he thinks she might hate him. Is that an accurate read of Charlie in that moment? Would he be upset if Luna decided to stop trusting him and being around him after that?

When Luna was kidnapped, how did Charlie deal with that? I know he was unsurprised and probably very concerned, but I find people's actual outward reactions to these stressful situations very interesting so I thought I'd ask. (Like Beckett only being able to talk to Rose and Charlie after he and O'Malley were jumped, Jane pacing around when Thatcher was in the hospital, Moffy being very present and ready to do something whenever anything bad happens to anyone in the family, etc.). The difference in Tom and Eliot's feelings about the matter was something I really enjoyed reading about because it really helps form a clearer picture of who these characters are. Tom being more emotional and guilty and Eliot being more diplomatic about it made perfect sense to me, so I'm curious about Charlie.

This is alittle of topic but after rereading NLU again can you explain alittle on why Charlie and Beckett didn't try to stop Audrey from talking about what happened between Donnelly, Luna and Lily in the kitchen. It really irritated me just like Charlie when I first read the book. I agreed with Charlie that Audrey is old enough to know better and that people's lives especially families personal lives are not gossip to reveal just to get a reaction. Do you think he tried to stop her and if not maybe after it was done try to have a talk with her?

And out of Winnifred, Spencer, Harriet and Roxanne who would Luna get along the most with. I'd like to say Harriet ( because theyre so different) but it could be someone else so I was curious. One of the first times we see their friendship was when Luna ran away and joined the Fancon tour. Were they already close at this time or was this more the start of their friendship? Was it strange that Luna texted Charlie? Would you consider writing a bonus scene if how this happened?

I respectfully disagree ! These characters are always evolving and thus their friendships and relationships are always evolving especially when major life events happen! I believe it is great to go back to topics such as these and reevaluate the relationships - it is one of the reasons Patreon is so much fun for the readers (especially since this was the voted topic this month 😉💕)

I think I remember them interpreting the question as pairing the Calloway sisters to side characters instead of the other way around. Since there’s only four sisters some of the characters got left out of being paired (Roxanne, Winnifred, and Harriet I think). But that would be so great if this question got revisited 😉
