All About the Kotova Family in the Circus is Family Series

Another tight race this month, and after many, many years, the Kotovas finally pulled through!! Results here. We are soooo excited to be discussing a series that is so near and dear to our hearts! We consider the Circus is Family series a bit of a hidden gem in our canon of work ✨ and we can't wait to dive into this family that make up the magic of The Failed Audition and The Secret Ex-Boyfriend. Which Kotova (or “Circus is Family” character) is the most likely to succeed on the following reality shows (🎥): •Big Brother •Survivor •The Challenge 2. In the “Aerial Ethereal Universe” podcast episode, you mentioned that Dimitri, Timo, Katya, and Nikolai were potential POV options for future CIF books. I was wondering if there was ever a potential future plot planned out for Sergei, or did you see him as someone that would always be a supporting character? He’s always intrigued me, I love the “𝘉𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘪𝘨 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳. 𝘐’𝘮 𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘸.” pin that’s on his Pinterest board! 3. With the reveal of RJ in the recent “A Rainbow Brigade Favor” bonus scene, we seem to be knee deep into the second generation of Kotovas. I was curious about how the planning process and creation of the second generation “Circus is Family” characters was for you? Was creating those characters and planning out where they would be located more difficult at all since you haven’t had the opportunity to write all of their parents stories yet? 4. In “The Failed Audition” it’s mentioned that Amour is about “six different types of love: obsessive, destructive, friendship, gentle, teasing, and passionate.” If you had to categorize each CIF pairing into one of the types of love listed above, which pairings are you placing where? Pairings can fall under the same category (it doesn’t have to be one pairing per category) and if you aren’t comfortable teasing future CIF pairings, could you place the characters with unconfirmed love interests into the category that you think they would want to be in (the kind of love that they would want as of the “The Secret Ex-Boyfriend” timeline)?

I’ve been waiting so long for this podcast I’m so happy right now! Did you always know that Roxanne was going to be the daughter of Camila and Dimitri? Why did you choose them? Any details about Roxanne’s personality, her likes and dislikes? In cif books, the kotovas and those who were apart of the circus were homeschooled, are the new gen kotovas/roxanne and her cousins homeschooled too even if they didn’t choose to be apart of the circus

In “The Secret Ex-Boyfriend” we learn that Baylee’s aunt works for Rose and that she gives birth to a baby (Baylee’s cousin) in NYC. Is Baylee’s cousin still in NYC? Might we see her cousin or aunt in the CE timeline?

This might be a weird question, but we see how the core 8 parents parent their kids by grounding them whenever they did something wrong, I was just wondering since Nikolai took on guardianship of timo, Luka, and Katya and they get in a lot of trouble 😂😂, did he ever take that role with them and ground them or did he stick to only a big brother/ guardian role? You girlies are amazing and I eat up everything u write ❤️❤️

This should be fun. I first discovered your work via the Circus is Family series. Intrigued me, because I studied Russian and have some connections to Cavalia, which is connected to Cirque du Soleil. Really enjoyed both stories, the imperfection of the humans, the family bonds, and reality the characters create within a very abnormal life.

I just read Circus is Family this week and absolutely loved it! I literally can’t stop thinking about the characters and the world, which is the same feeling I got with the Addicted/Calloway and Like Us books, so I needed to ask this! For each of the Kotovas, who would they get along the most with from the core eight, and who would they get along the most with from the famous ones and bodyguards? I would love to know if these families had a strong bond, who would each have the strongest bond or friendship? What friend groups would form? Who wouldn’t get along?

SPOILERS for the Addicted series / Failed Audition and characters Thora and Nikolai. . . . . . SPOILERS . In the addicted series you had the character Daisy go through fertility issues. But she thankfully didn't loose her child. What went into the decision for Thora and Nikolai to have a miscarriage ? Is this something when plotting the first book you always knew what would happen? We're you nervous about broaching this topic? Or happy that you did because it's not talked about enough and you wanted to bring more awareness that miscarriages are common.Along with some reasons on why they happen.

Everyone that has read CiF must’ve noticed the similarity between Eliot and Tomofei , with the dramatics, masks and such (same goes for a www character). (Although there’s also lots of differences). Is there someone you shape these characters to? Do you have someone in mind while writing them? If so, who would that be?

It stands out because there's not really another pin like that in other boards.
