Welcome to the newest Fizz Hangout! Every Friday, you all can stop by the weekly Fizz Hangout post and ask questions (to us or to your fellow patrons), discuss recent bonus scenes and/or podcasts with each other, and catch up on all the goodies you might've missed!

HANGOUT QUESTION: we love seeing your response to questions about the Like Us series, and it helps facilitate some awesome discussions! Each week, there'll be a new "hangout question" that you can answer in the comments, if you wish!

We are on the precipice of finishing up edits, so that means we'll have more time to read, watch TV and movies, and just...sleep LOL. But we need all the recs! What are you currently reading, listening to, or watching that you'd recommend?

Happy Friday, magical & heroic beauties!! This is going to be a brief hangout note since we truly are about to cross the finish line with these edits for Destructively Mine. And if you've been following us here and on social media, you know it has a cover, blurb, and release date! YAYYY!

We'll discuss what we're working on next (when the DM edits are done!) as soon as we get there. Right now, we're laser-focused on these edits. So you can expect a bigger update on next Friday's hangout and we'll be able to respond to some past questions you might've had for us as well (so sorry we haven't been able to be more chatty!)

I'm reading They Drown Our Daughters, and I just finished watching Succession and loved it! If Addicted got adapted to a TV show, I picture it exactly like that (of course, Addicted has more heartwarming, fun moments, but I think that the moments of tension are similar, and I like the photograph and directing style). Also, I know you two watch Yellowjackets, and wanted to ask who's your favorite character 💖

I highly recommend reading My Anti Hero by Tijan ( great book!!) and The Girl Duet by Julie Johnson ( I underestimated the duology , it was so good!!) iam getting ready to read Black Tie Billionaires series, once I finish my reread of Briar U series by Elle Kennedy. Then I will read King of sloth it is reverse grumpy/sunshine romance which they are not enough books out there like this!! Do you ladies have plans to write a reverse grump/sunshine romance I hope so. Change it up alittle bit 🙏. For tvshows based on old podcasts from you guys I have actually started watching Interview with the vampire 🧛‍♀️, I was shocked on how much iam enjoying it. House of the dragon season 2 just ended on Sunday which I highly enjoyed despite I know how some fans feel about it. If you watch The Boys I highly recommend seeing the latest season released ( season 4 so good). A great mother-daughter family drama tv show is Ginny and georgia on Netflix. The Last Kingdom on Netflix if you like vikings, action ,romance and don't mind blood. If you ladies ever decide to get into Kdrama or anime, I have recs for those to.

We are watching 9-1-1! We’re hooked on it. Our next watch is likely going to be My Lady Jane. That one is recommended by some of my favorite historical romance reviewers on BookTok. I also loved Twisters and Deadpool & Wolverine for in-theaters stuff. I loved Deadpool & Wolverine so much that I re-watched a bunch of my favorite Marvel movies right after seeing it. Twisters was super fun & the romance was great. The two MCs just had fantastic chemistry. In fact, their chemistry was so good I kept thinking of the movie as a RomCom/romance novel. I am also very into horror films. Abigail on Peacock was great, and so was Tarot on Netflix for lovers of astrology.

Just finished Maxton Hall on Prime and really enjoyed it… reminded me of the old-school WB dramas with an enemies to lovers thrown in! (It’s a German show so it’s dubbed) Excited for the second season currently being filmed… also doesn’t hurt that the MMC is how I always imagined Charlie and he even has his arrogance and demeanor at times Just restarted watching Lie to Me, with Angelina, which I have always loved since trying to read people has always been a thing of mine… I’ve also been watching 911 here and there to catch up after you guys recommended it and I love it!! So so good I’ll include some music recs in another post after I compile a few since the last time I recommended some!! 🥰

Hi! So I just reread Tangled Like Us and I have a question. I grew up in an Italian American family in Philly and I loved that you used words like Cumare and Maliocch and Mapeen just to name a few. So the question is do you ladies and your families use them and if not how did you learn them? Most of my friends growing up had no idea what any of these words meant. I love how authentic it was!

Ahh! “Destructively Mine” edits almost being completed is such exciting news! :) I’m obsessed with the shade of green that was chosen for the cover of DM (it’s stunning) and the blurb has me counting down the days until I can hold the book in my hands (🤲)! I’m so glad that you’ll both have some more time to yourselves once these edits are completed, and some more time to catch up on sleep! 🤎 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: These past couple of weeks have consisted of re-reads for me! • I’m currently re-reading the CIF books to prep for the upcoming podcast! • I hope to re-read “The House in the Cerulean Sea” by TJ Klune before the sequel is released next month (I adore TJ’s books)! :) • I’m also hoping to start reading some of the Batman comics this month (sorry, Lo)! I’ve been wanting to delve into the batfam’s stories for awhile, but I’ve always been too intimidated because I’ve never read comics before (so I’m not sure how to approach such an expansive catalog). I’ve researched a couple different reading orders, but I’m still trying to determine which one would be the best fit for what I’m interested in / looking for. Fingers crossed that I choose correctly (lol). 🤞 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐨: With September approaching, I’ve started getting into a bit of a Fall mood! I’ve reverted to listening to some of the same songs and artists that I listened to last Fall (but I’m also still listening to some current Summer(y) songs as well)! ☀️🍁 • Gracie Abrams: I’ve been listening to her new album throughout the summer! I’ve also been listening to some of her songs that I listened to last Fall as well (“Full machine”, “Stay”, “Hard to Sleep”). • Phoebe Bridgers: I adore Phoebe! I’m hoping that she’ll release another album sometime soon (but I don’t want to rush her)! I’ve been listening to “Sidelines”, “ICU”, and her cover of “So Much Wine”! • Taylor Swift: I’m always listening to Taylor. “loml”, “The Black Dog”, and “imgonnagetyouback” from her recent album still have me in a chokehold (and I wouldn’t have it any other way). :) • The Aces: I’m a big fan of their sound! “Younger” & “Girls Make Me Wanna Die” are the songs of theirs that I listen to the most. • Pale Waves: I’m excited for their new album that’s being released next month! I’ve been listening to “Glasgow”, “Perfume”, and “Television Romance”. 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠: I’m not sure if I have any new recommendations (😅), I think we watch a lot of the same shows. • “Big Brother”. How are you feeling about the new season so far? I’ve been enjoying all of the drama (lol). • “The Challenge”. I love the concept of the upcoming season, I’m hoping it lives up to my expectations! • “The Bachelorette”. I’m not a big fan of this season unfortunately, so I don’t recommend tuning in for this one (🥲). • “SKAM”. I’m re-watching this show with a friend of mine! I watched it for the first time back in 2015 / 2016, so revisiting it has been fun + nostalgic! Have you watched this one (👀)? It’s a Norwegian web series! I would compare it to “Skins” (maybe)? It deals with some heavier topics and it also has a similar structure to “Skins” (each season follows a particular charactera, which I love)! I also enjoyed tuning in while it was still airing. Each clip in the show is dated and timestamped, so if one of the clips was said to be happening on a Wednesday at 8am, that clip would’ve been posted on a Wednesday at 8am (it was like you were watching along in real time as the clip was happening)! :) 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠: I’ve been hoping to get back into “Stardew Valley” and “Palia” soon, but “Fortnite” has been consuming all of my time. I’m unironically obsessed with it (🙂‍↕️). The next season is Marvel themed (centered around Doctor Doom) and Emma Frost is going to be one of the skins that’s included in the upcoming Battle Pass (so that’s super cool)! I’m sending all of the good vibes + energy your way as you finish up DM edits! 🫂✨ 🤎🤎

i recommend ‘Maid’ it’s on netflix and is a show adaptation of the beautiful memoir written by stephanie land!! it deals with DV, poverty, and being a single parent. the show had me in absolute tears. alex, the MC, doesn’t always do the right thing, but i think that’s what makes it feel so real to watch 🥲

RE Movies & TV Shows: 🏝️ Love Island: Watching Love Island USA Season 6 this summer has been a blast! With Adriana Maddox as the producer and host, it’s the best season yet. It's full of fun, youth, and all the flirty, dating dynamics. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the relationships and social commentary, which feels like a modern-day Big Brother. 🤠 1883: After catching up with Yellowstone on your recommendation, I've moved on to 1883. It’s been an epic journey so far! 🌆 Real Housewives of Dubai: Besides Love Island, I’m also hooked on Real Housewives of Dubai. The summer vibes, sand, and luxury are just irresistible. --- RE: Books & Comics: 📚 Dishonestly Yours & Unlucky Like Us: These books have been my summer reads, giving off those fresh, summery vibes. 📘 Malazan - Deadhouse Gates: Currently on book two of the Malazan series. Didn’t plan it, but it’s interesting how book one felt wintry while this one’s all sandy and desert-like, perfectly matching the season. 📖 Krakoa Era Comics: I’ve been catching up on the Krakoa era, gearing up to start the new era, though I’m not super enthused about it yet. I am not a fan of how much they’re not doing our girl Emma Frost justice… Marriage just got annulled with Tony Stark (shocker!? who would have seen THAT obvious cash grab coming -.——). RE: Two New Talking Points: 🎶 Sully’s Workout Playlist: I was thinking about Sully's playlist while working out the other day. I love the playlists you guys create, and it struck me how motivating it would be to have a Sully-only playlist for when she's working out. It would be such a great itch to scratch, thinking about her pushing through her limits while we do the same in our respective fields. Just a thought, but if you're ever up for making that, it would be super cute and honestly, a bit of a selfish request on my part. I would be over the moon and really happy about that! 🌙 📚 DC & Star Wars Comics Follow-Up: Also, wanted to follow up on our past discussions about DC and Star Wars comics. Any new insights or updates? What era are you in currently? Are you still reading and going strong? How many comics do you find yourself reading a week say of the Legends era? My final question is, I was thinking, if you had to pitch Star Wars Legends comics like the ones you love, to a x-men fan, what do you think about it would work? 🌌 Trivial Lore Question: 📚 Comic & Book Organization for the Hales: As the Hales are so pop-culture rich, how do they organize their precious collections when moving out? Does Maximoff take his Batman comics? Does Xander rely solely on his Kindle or keep some favorite books? I'm curious about your thoughts on their organizational strategies. It's a mix of nostalgia and practicality, isn't it? Do they leave a "shelter zone" for X-Men comics at the Hale house, or is everything scattered? How do they decide what stays, moves, or gets replaced? Even Luna, with her Star Wars comics—does she keep the classics at the house and the new reads in the penthouse? Horror is one of my favorite movie genres! And there are tons of new horror films coming out right now. When I can’t find anything to watch I’ll often re-watch a favorite horror film that I know very well while reading a romance novel.

I’ve kind of dropped off on the season because of our editing deadline. I watched the first 4 episodes and then have been kind of looking at some updates online. It seems like nothing is happening – but maybe I’m not looking at the right sources LOL 😂 I didn’t love any particular person enough to go back to it, but if it seems like it’s getting better I might jump back in. I persuaded my entire family (my siblings) to play Fortnite (and by extension got my sister-in-law’s entire family into it), so I feel a little like a Fortnite wizard. Neither Becca nor I watched it, though, and we were going to start it, but then I saw the amount of episodes and my eyes went so big! I feel like this is a show you have to watch as it airs or the binge commitment is just too big LOL 😂. There are definitely *items* that one Hale would feel more territorial of over the other. So it’s likely Moffy would take his Batman comics if he were moving. But maybe things that are more “familial” possession would stay in the house. Xander probably has some collectibles that are just his as well. And I can see him having physical books as well as a kindle. It’s likely that the younger ones (Luna, Xander) don’t take ALL their collections and leave behind some at Hale House. But it is interesting to think which ones they’d take in addition to their current reads. Most likely anything they’d reread. And I can see Lo having a specific spot in the house for all things X-men haha 🩷🩷 As far as recs from us, we’ve been so in deadline mode that we haven’t consumed much lately outside of the occasional movie this past month. This season of Big Brother has been…interesting (😅)? There’ve been a couple little fights and callouts here and there that have kept me interested in the season, but I 100% understand what you mean about “nothing happening”! The actual gameplay this season has been a bit lackluster so far (in my opinion). I think the whole “AI Arena” twist has made it more difficult to make big & interesting moves (since all three nominated houseguests have a chance to remove themselves from the block on eviction night, there hasn’t been much campaigning happening ☹️). BB’s been teasing a new twist that’s being announced this Friday though, so I’m hoping that means that BB AI Arena ends this week (and that that change will jumpstart the houseguests’ gameplay a bit)! 🤞 AHH, I’m **so glad** that you enjoy Fortnite as well (🥹)! I love that you’re a ✨Fortnite Wizard✨ and got other members of your family to play! That’s so fun! :) I’ve been trying to pitch the game to my friends so that we can all play together, but I’ve been unsuccessful so far (womp womp 🥲). I need to work on my persuasion tactics lol (😅). The current season wasn’t my favorite (it was car focused, which I wasn’t a huge fan of), but I’m super excited for the upcoming one! The trailer was revealed at D23 last weekend and it looks like it’s going to be super fun! It starts on the 16th, so it’s soo close! I can’t wait! 🥹🤎

I feel like season 2 was really good and I enjoyed season 7 too! But I’ve loved all of them - especially the episodes that deal with big disasters like the tsunami or the capsized boat… I loved seeing Buck’s evolution and his friendship with Eddie and Christopher; Maddie’s storyline was fun to follow and see why she came to LA and then everything Chin; and Athena and Bobby navigating challenges together has always been a highlight!! What about you, Shi? And you’re right - I blame Becca for my love for this show 🤣😍

Maxton Hall reminded me of GG during the time of the college race and all the drama that surrounds the privileged upper class that inevitably the one who doesn’t have money can’t relate to… it’s also based on a book series by Mona Kasten which I kinda need to read now cause I didn’t know it had it going in lol

!! Potential “9-1-1” Spoilers Ahead !! • • • • • YES! I **love** the opening disaster episodes! The tsunami arc was my favorite (I love angst 🤌). I’m super excited to see what season 8’s will bee (🐝) (pun intended)! We’ll find out next month (so soon hehe)! Buck’s development throughout the series is incredible…I adore him! I love his relationship with Eddie (and Chris 🥹)! The season 7 finale **ruined me**, though. It was so painful…:( I’m so glad you love Maddie as well! I adore her, the Buckley siblings have my heart + soul (🤎)! I’m so happy that she and Chim found one another! I was a bit disappointed that their wedding didn’t go as planned (🥲), but it’s finee ~~ I adore Athena + Bobby and Hen + Karen as well! I just love everyone (lol)…:) I’m also crossing my fingers that we see some more of Ravi in season 8! I want to learn more about him (🤞)! I’m so glad that so many of us have watched “9-1-1”! We should have discussions about the episodes next season! :) 🤎🤎
