Weekly Recap

Happiest Friday, magical & heroic beauties! We're hard at work on Webs We Weave Book 3 -- which we got permission from the publisher to do a title reveal this month, so it will have an official title that we can FINALLY share with all of you. Eeeek! Keep on the lookout next week for that drop.

We did our final reread of Destructively Mine, this week on pass pages. (These are typeset and formatted pages and our absolute FINAL time to find any typos and make any small corrections.) Reading it again has been such a joy. We truly believe this is one of our best books to date. We're just so damn proud of it, especially knowing how much work it took to get to this version.

Here on Patreon, we're gearing up for some fun bonuses and podcasts. This is a huge writing month for us as we approach our big deadline. So you can expect a lot of content to drop toward the tail end of the month.

I’ve been a bit down this week, so I switched from reading to watching Hallmark Christmas movies. I’m enjoying The Groomsmen trilogy on Hallmark+ so far. It’s about 3 best friends/groomsmen who live in Philadelphia. I’m such a mega-fan of your books that they keep reminding me of the Yale boys! I did just finish reading Not All Himbos Wear Capes because I wanted another Superhero experience after Agatha All Along ended. I LOVED that show so much. I am just thrilled to see what happens next with the Maximoff family in the MCU. I would love to hear your thoughts on it sometime! I truly felt that show stuck the landing. That has to be one of my favorite show endings in a long time. I’m also feeling a bit between holidays, so I’ll likely start by holiday reads with Sara Raasch’s The Nightmare Before Kissmas soon. I always like reading romantasy, paranormal, and holiday romance novels this time of the year.

IM SO EXCITED WE GET FINN THIS MONTH!!!! First glimpses into the characters’ minds are ALWAYS special and I can’t wait 😍😍 I read almost everything whenever it sounds good… like I’ll read a romantasy then a mafia one then vampires then a fluffy contemporary then a dark romance then a cowboy one then time travel, so forth and so on… I also switch between MF and MM (but it really doesn’t matter the number of people if I like the book so MFM, MM+, FF, etc is all good to me!!) in those categories too so my taste runs the board! So excited for the WWW3 title announcement this month!! And the big CE one is only a month away too 😍🙌🏻🎉

WOOOOOOOOOOO 🤣 (yes me and abby are trying veryyy hard to make finn a thing) Now on books this may be shocking but outside of you guys the largeeee majority of what I read is dark romance sometimes with some mafia thrown in just because I enjoy it more than contemporary or a fluffy rom com!! I just think it's more interesting dark honestly! I also loveeeeee love loveeee me a cowboy romance I have a little bit of an obession with cowboys honestly 🤣🤣 I'll read MM MF MMF MFMM all of the above!! It's just whatever I'm in the mood for at that moment I'm a big mood reader. So what I read is a broad spectrum because of that! I just rarely am in the mood for something contemporary or fluffy and I tend to lean to the dark side (hehe) often! I am a mood reader so I flip flop between genres but I have read more romantasy than anything else this year.

Idk if this is a sub genre but I just love reading about very SMART people in love. So I guess that’s lends itself to Dark Academia? I think bc it’s intrinsically requires the characters to have a life outside their romantic interest. They have a vested interest in their jobs, studies, academic rigour etc. and also facilitates conversation and lengthy opportunities to read their lives trivialised by said vocations. I’m mainly thinking about Matthew and Diana for example. Who are middle aged professors and have respective careers. It’s fascinating to read and requires a lot of maturity 🥸. That being said, I am rewatching Peaky Blinders rn and I think I love that genre So Much! It’s geninuely part of that era of the amazing BBC shows like it’s aired shows like Sherlock etc. must watch! Not just bc it’s cillian Murphy and the writing is phenomenal but bc it also opened the blinders to a historical time period everyone forgot about. The Birmingham organised crime. In a lot of ways, the remind me of the cobalt brothers 🤭. Especially Charlie / Tommy who are both cursed with such high intelligence. Totally a great opportunity to watch if you haven’t already 😊. It’s got it all, romance, all star cast, etc… I think they’re currently producing the film rn as well!

Hello, what kind of houses do Marrow, Jane/Thatcher, Sulli and her men live in ( townhouses, cabin style, mansion etc). I think in NLU it a townhome was mentioned and the triad are living in an apartment ( i could be wrong i have not reread nlu in months) Maybe when you're not so busy and things slow down you could do pinterest boards of each couples houses like how you do for the core 6 😄. What it looks like outside and inside.

I'm curious about the Hot Frosty romance on Netflix! It feels like a classic Hallmark kind of movie. I'm going through Agatha withdrawals too. I need so much more!! I'm hoping there's not a long wait for the VisionQuest show

I love that dark romance is almost like a straddle between contemporary and fantasy. Like it's not straight up fantasy, but it definitely "goes there" in ways that contemporary doesn't always, so it scratches a certain itch sometimes! ~ B

Yes by the end Marrow & JaneThatcher are in townhouses (slightly more updated than the ones from the beginning of the Like Us series) and Sulli is in an apartment. That's such an interesting perspective it definitely is like a straddle and scratches an itch contemporary can't! It's super cool that way and that's apart of it for sure It also feels more relatable to me I guess 🤣 Generally I've found that emotion wise dark goes way deeper into the psyche and is also a straddle in good and bad and questioning those lines and I think those themes are fascinating!! I could probably go on about this forever lol but one last thing I'll add is that I much prefer exploring the defiance of the typical ideas surrounding heros and villians.
