Welcome to the newest Fizz Hangout! Every Friday, you all can stop by the weekly Fizz Hangout post and ask questions (to us or to your fellow patrons), discuss recent bonus scenes and/or podcasts with each other, and catch up on all the goodies you might've missed!

HANGOUT QUESTION: we love seeing your response to questions about the Like Us series, and it helps facilitate some awesome discussions! Each week, there'll be a new "hangout question" that you can answer in the comments, if you wish!

Connor Cobalt has asked you to annotate your favorite book of ours and gift it to him this year for Christmas. Which book are you picking?

Weekly Recap

Happiest Friday, magical & heroic beauties! We're heading into the final week of November, which means next week is going to be jampacked with writing content and podcasts. What writing content can you expect? You'll be getting the first two chapters of Frog and Quinn's story. We don't have a "title" for it yet, and likely we won't have one for a while -- so we'll be just referring to it as their story here on Patreon. It's structured more like a book and less like a collection of bonus scenes, so you will be thrust right into their plot/arc. Yes--there is a plot! It starts right where Nobody Like Us ends, but it can be read as a standalone so if you see us describing things about the security team or including lines and obvious backstory on characters that you already know -- it's because we're writing it in a way that any reader can jump into it.

News this week: We're also headed to RARE Melbourne next year! We're over-the-moon that this is happening. We tried to go to an Australia event years ago, but we weren't able to make it. So this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime bucket list signing for us. We don't know if we'll ever visit there again, so we're beyond excited that it's in the cards for us next year. We cannot wait to see some of you there!!!!!

Outside of Patreon and events, we are writing Dangerously Ours and getting ready for the big Cobalt Empire announcement in December.

Our movie plans for this weekend are Gladiator 2 (for Krista) and Smile 2 (for Becca). Are any of you seeing movies this weekend? We've heard great things about Wicked, but we've never read the book or seen the musical so it hasn't been on our radar.

Some Kind of Perfect! My favorite is Headstrong Like Us, but I’m just itching to see more of Connor with the kids! I can’t wait for Finn!! I’m so excited to see their story! I’m a bit obsessed with Wicked, and have been forever. I think I’ve seen 5 different productions - touring companies & Broadway. I’ve also read the book, and did like it a lot at the time, but I like the musical a lot more because it isn’t nearly as depressing. I aso like the romance elements of the musical a lot more. I tend to prefer happy endings.

But I'm going to say The Failed Audition (Amour Amour) because I know Connor appreciates people being dedicated to their craft~ ✨️ Side note, that's so cool that you're going to Australia!!! This is a such a great (and difficult) question! If we’re choosing one of our favorites (because I have multiple <3), then I’d choose “Some Kind of Perfect”! :) I would also 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 for him to annotate “Dishonestly Yours”, though! I’d be interested in hearing his thoughts on all of the cons, as well as the other mischief that the characters get up to! —— I’m excited for all of the content that’s coming next week! I love getting to nestle into the minds of new characters, so I can’t wait to see what Frog + Quinn’s POVs are like! :’) I’m also super excited for the CE announcement that’s happening in December! It’s so close now, I can’t believe it (🥹). I was wondering if the announcement will involve purchasing anything (👀)? Definitely kiss the sky but if we go outside the addicted universe then terms and conditions by Lauren Asher 💕 fun fact after i told my best friend I loved that Connor did this, she chose this book and read it and annotated it (also special because she has adhd so reading can take her longer so she spent a lot of her time dedicated to this 🥲) and then gifted to me for my bday! The most special gift I’ve ever received bc to be loved is to be seen 🥹

It’s a great show! The composer and lyricist also did Pippin, which is just excellent (and reminds me of Ben because Pippi) and worked on music for a bunch of the best 90s movies animated soundtracks - like The Prince of Egypt (the music in that was phenomenal)

Random question for Krista & Becca: in past podcasts you've mention your writing process is to make multiple passes of the whole book. Is your writing process changing for Frog & Quinn? Do you plan to write their chapters using the process you use for bonus scenes?

Good question! Inherently, the writing process for this one will be different than a typical book of ours where one of us always goes back to the beginning and we pass through the book several times before we're done. But we have written a book like this before -- Whatever It Takes / Wherever You Are (Bad Rep duet) would be the closest thing. We first wrote it as a web series in chronological order. This is also a bit different than the process for bonus scenes because we're writing in chronological order as though everything works as one story, one novel, with a central arc. We're also writing ahead in a way that helps us so we can go back to earlier chapters (before posting them) and tweak things that need to be tweaked. Hopefully that makes sense! It might be easier for us to talk about it in a pod 🩷

The announcement won't be too far in December. More like mid-December 😊 The Extra Pod in December might be something like a "what's to come in 2025" podcast where we can talk more about all these things! That'd be super fun. We really see Nobody Like Us as the final novel in the Like Us series, since it ties up the whole series so well. So we've been on the fence on whether to call any companion novels "like us" in concern that it'll cause confusion for the reading order. We've also been writing Frog & Quinn's story as something a bit separate from the Like Us series as a whole. It can really stand on its own, so that's another reason we're considering a title that doesn't necessarily fit within the series. But we're still floating ideas, which is why we're simply going to call it Frog & Quinn's story for now 💗

We've also been writing Frog & Quinn's story as something a bit separate from the Like Us series as a whole. It can really stand on its own, so that's another reason we're considering a title that doesn't necessarily fit within the series. But we're still floating ideas, which is why we're simply going to call it Frog & Quinn's story for now 💗 Hope this makes some sense!

We've been writing Frog & Quinn's story as if it's a standalone. It can be read separate from the Like Us series. Nobody Like Us is the true finale of the series (even if we do end up adding a Luna & Donnelly companion novel down the line) ❤️ We're soooo happy you're excited about them!!

Totally what I thought you were going to say with regards to the title!! I get it completely… since LU ended, it makes sense to move away from the Like Us title and have a new one people can read as a stand-alone or as a gateway book even!! I shall cease calling it BLU and just call it Finn’s story until told otherwise! Excited to see what you come up with for a title, and how their story is going to play out 😍

Question: Is the Cobalt Empire announcement coming in late December? I’m trying to get a couple more books in before Addicted Christmas comes out and have a feeling that’s going to propel me into reading them all again! I love these characters so much, and I’m soooo excited to find out when to expect the Cobalt series. PS. OMG I am so excited for Audreys book. IM SO EXCITED.

Wicked is GREAT. I hadn’t read the book or saw the original either and it’s definitely top movie for 2024 imo
