MUSIC: We listened to "The Night We Met" by Lord Huron while writing this bonus scene.

“WAIT, slow down,” I tell Rose over the phone, plugging my ear to hear my older sister better, but I’m not the one with shrill background noise. I’m still in my bedroom in our Vegas suite, just in a white tank top and yellow panties that say eat me on the butt after showering.

Goldilocks naps on a velvet couch near the TV. Her ears twitch as I speak to Rose, but my golden retriever hasn’t fully woken yet. Everything is fine, I want to believe.

We’re all fine.

No need to wake up, Goldi.

Bed sheets are twisted and tangled around my long legs, and Ryke is sprawled out lazily beside me. Sweat coats the tanned skin of his sculpted muscles. He’s completely naked after an hour of us playing around, which went from me teasing him to him teasing me to him fucking me. Way more than just once.

I still feel the ache between my legs from when he filled me. I only put on clothes in hopes he’d rip them off again. Round four, fight! I planned to say while straddling him. I already imagined he’d pick me up and toss me on the mattress, only to take me rough and untamed.

But I love him so much more than just how he makes me feel when we’re intimate. I love that when I look over at him now, he sits up with furrowed brows and hard features like he’s prepared to do anything to protect me and my sisters.

He’s been my wolf for twenty-eight years. He’s been my husband for twenty-four.

“We’re taking the jet,” Rose says, nearly out of breath like she’s powerwalking somewhere or she’s panicked or maybe both.

“What do you mean you’re taking the jet?” We all came here together.

As my eyes grow wide, Ryke is on his feet. He’s grabbing his drawstring pants off the floor. I hear honking on Rose’s end like she’s either at the airport already or she’s outside where cabs are laying on their horns.

“Aren’t you in the hotel?” I ask. Winona, is all I think. This is about the girls. They’re still at the club downstairs. We’ve been checking our phones every now and then to see if Price has any updates for us.

Last we heard, they were all still at the club called Verona.

“Connor,” Rose says, not paying attention to me as she speaks in hurried French.

I lower my phone and tell Ryke, “Can you call Lo or Lily and see what’s going on?” They should still be in our suite.

Right?

They’re not with Rose and Connor. Or did they all just leave me and Ryke behind…?

They wouldn’t. They’d come get us.

Ryke is unearthing his phone from the comforter that’s crumpled on the floor.

“Rose?” I call out to my sister, phone in my fist. I spring off the bed and find my jeans on the ground.

I shimmy them up my hips while Rose finally says coherently but with high-pitched edge, “Ben left the hotel without telling anyone, and he’s now on a fucking commercial plane and headed back to Philly.”

“Ben left?” Ryke’s brows furrow even harder.

“Is he alone?” I ask my sister.

“Apparently, he outran his bodyguard.”

“Fucking fuck.” Ryke curses, tugging his shirt over his head.

“Donnelly caught up with him,” Rose adds, but not before giving me and Ryke a tiny heart attack.

I exhale a long breath. “That’s good. He’s with Ben on the plane now?”

“That’s what we’ve been told—” She breaks into fiery French.

Ryke is texting. “Lily and Lo are coming downstairs.” They have the bedroom upstairs, so they must still be in the suite then. My spirits rise, and in a slight sprint, we head out into the living room.

I whistle for Goldi to follow, and she leaps off the couch, hot on our heels. My head is whirling. So Ben is safe on a plane with Luna’s boyfriend, but we still have no idea why he left in a hurry.

We enter the humongous, swanky living room with vaulted ceilings and expansive views of glittering Sin City. I’m only looking at Lily and Lo as they rush down the twisty glass staircase.

“Have you heard anything?” I ask Lily.

She shakes her head. “Rose didn’t call me, and Connor just told Lo to make sure Audrey stays with the girls.”

Wait…Rose called me first? Before Lily?

It’s Winona.

Whether Rose has information or it’s a gut feeling, I have a strange inkling this involves Nona. Rose carried her for nine months for me. She gave birth to her. She’s tried not to play favorites since she’d never want to step on my toes as Winona’s mom, but we shared something together just trying to bring my daughter in this great, big world.

That bond with my sister has never been broken. Seventeen years later and it’s still there in these quiet, shared smiles as we watch Winona leapfrog over rocks and cannonball into the lake after Ben. It took the power of our sisterhood to create Winona, and maybe that’s why it’s been so special seeing her lead a group of girls.

Even if she’s led them into trouble, once or twice. Not this time. I don’t think it’s that…

She’s been sad. This year has been tough. I spiral through everything I know, and what I felt—how tonight would be fun for her. She’d sneak away into a club with her cousins. She’d laugh and let loose…

Were they drinking?

Ryke is shoving his feet into boots and dialing a number. He has to be calling our youngest daughter because she’s all I’m thinking about right now.

“Rose?” I say into the phone. “Do you know why Ben left?”

“No—not yet,” she says fast. “When Audrey gets there, don’t let her leave for the airport.” There is a strange panic in Rose’s voice. “She’ll try to follow Ben once she finds out he’s left Vegas. I’m texting Jane just in case you need her. Charlie and Beckett are already on the tarmac. They’re going to beat us to Philly.”

“What the hell is going on?” Lo asks, his face cinching in deeper confusion. “Connor didn’t say this was a DEFCON 1 situation. Wasn’t he calm, Lil?” He turns to my older sister.

She’s texting someone. “Yeah, but he’s always calm. It’s his superpower.”

This is where Ryke would grumble, that’s not fucking true. But he’s lacing his boots while he uses his shoulder to press his phone to his ear. “Fuck.” He swears harshly.

“Nona didn’t pick up?” I guess.

His darkened gaze rests on me. That’s a terrible yes. He lets the phone drop to the rug while he yanks and knots the shoelace.

I feel weirdly laggy. When I’m always going a hundred-miles-a-minute, I’m slow in this second, running behind. Trepidation is quicksand, and I’m sinking.

“Should we wake up Garrison and Willow?” Lily asks beside me.

I nod slowly. Yeah. We should get them. Nothing comes out of my mouth because Rose is saying from the phone in my hand, “The bodyguards are telling us the last person they saw Ben talking to was Winona.”

My stomach drops out. “We have to get the girls,” I say in a daze, then snap awake and bolt toward the door. I have to find Winona. I have to find her.

“Daisy!” Ryke calls after me.

Just as I swing open the door, Ryke catches up to me. He holds my waist, his chest up against my back, but he’s as frozen as I am—because they’re in the hallway.

“It’s not as if we stayed out all night or left security. We partied responsibly, and that’s precisely what we should tell them,” Audrey decrees, like nothing is too out of the ordinary.

“Unless my siblings were with us, my dad will care that it was just us four, no matter what we say,” Kinney tells her, acting unconcerned. “Just prepare yourself for the lecture and it won’t be as boring.”

“I sort of like my father’s lectures,” Audrey muses. “They’re quite entertaining, but not more than Mother’s.”

“Aunt Rose is the best,” Kinney notes like it’s fact, and I’d usually find this endearing since she is such a mini-Rose to me.

But while they’re talking, Vada is casting concerned glances at Winona, who’s said nothing too. Her eyes are bloodshot. She’s so quiet. Trudging forward at a much slower place. She’s not bouncing. She’s not smiling.

Their three bodyguards walk behind them, aware the girls could potentially turn around and sprint back for the elevators. They won’t let them.

“Oh shit,” Vada says, seeing me and Ryke. “Guys, they’re right there.”

Audrey waves. “Hi, Aunt Daisy! We have been on our best behavior. No reason to ground us. We are back promptly. Aren’t we?” She peers over at Winona.

They’re much closer to us now, and Winona just nods and forces a smile at me. “Yeah. Yeah, we were safe and stuff. So don’t be too mad.” Her voice sounds hoarse.

Kinney frowns. “She said she has cramps.”

“They’ve been bad all night,” Winona says in a teeny-tiny whisper. “I think I’m just gonna go to bed.”

“We need to fucking talk,” Ryke says behind me. Then the chorus of voices from Lo, Lily, Garrison, and Willow follow with more exclamations about meeting in the living room. Hashing out where they’ve been, all of that important stuff…but I’m only staring at Winona.

She’s only looking at me.

Her nose flares as she buries emotion, holding back tears, and I reach out to take her hand. She pulls away, and a painful fist balls up in my throat. But as all the girls come into the suite, I bend down to Goldi and whisper, “Go to Nona.”

She bounds for my daughter as we all congregate in the living room, and I watch Winona kneel beside the golden retriever and hug onto her, burying her face into her furry neck for a long moment.

“Dais,” Ryke whispers so lowly to me, his concern growling his voice. He sees something is very wrong too.

“I know,” I murmur back. “We’ll figure it out, Ryke.” Tonight. It has to be tonight. I can’t leave her this upset.

The four of them face us in the living room. They're expecting to be grounded, and Audrey takes a big breath, about to plead her case.

But Lo jumps in first, “A text would’ve been nice. Don’t you think, love?” He asks Lily.

“Yep. I would’ve liked a text.” She nods robustly.

Kinney shrugs. “What’s the point of sneaking out if we tell you?”

“So none of you wanted permission?” Garrison asks, rubbing his eyes like this night is already hell. “Great.”

“Would you have given it?” Vada retorts.

“Yes,” Lo says, more diplomatically than usual. “We were seventeen once. Hard to believe, I know, but we understand what it’s like to want to have fun. So when we heard that you snuck out, did we chase you down? No. We let you have your fun, and we would’ve been happier about it if you came to us first.”

“Wait, you knew?” Vada frowns at her dad.

“Yeah, we knew.”

“And you didn’t come find us?”

Garrison just looks to Willow. She pushes up her glasses. “Your cousins’ bodyguards were around, and you were in this hotel, so we felt like you were safe downstairs.”

Audrey looks stunned. “This is awfully unexpected.”

Ryke rakes a hand through his thick hair. “Have any of you been drinking?” he asks the girls.

They all exchange furtive glances with each other.

“Jesus Christ,” Lo mutters. “It’s an 18+ bar. They shouldn’t be serving alcohol to minors—”

“It was barely anything,” Vada interjects. She’s speaking a lot more where Nona usually would.

“What’s barely?” Garrison frowns.

“There were jello shots at the bar,” Audrey confesses. “They were mostly jello. And they were not good. It tasted like cherry cough syrup. But we did them because Winona has cramps, and we thought the alcohol would make her feel better since the Advil clearly hasn’t been working.”

“Is that fucking true?” Ryke asks our daughter, tension in his heated stance, born out of escalating worry.

She scratches behind Goldi’s ears. “We each had a jello shot, yeah.”

Audrey glances around now, her frown crinkling her carrot-orange brows. “Where are my parents?”

“I think, maybe,” I jump in, “we should break apart into groups to chit-chat for a bit. What do you think?” I ask Lily and Willow.

They both nod.

“Good idea,” Lily says, then smiles. “I’ll take Kinney and Audrey. Let’s go to the hot tub. We can stick our feet in.”

Lo follows them out. That leaves Winona, Vada, Ryke, Garrison, Willow, and me in the living room.

“Vada, we can talk in the game room,” Willow says. “They have Pac-Man.”

“Yeah, okay…” Vada takes a single step, then stops, her concern on Winona.

“What’s going on?” Ryke asks. “Do you two know that Ben fucking left?”

Winona glances up, wide-eyed. “What?”

“Ben left?” Vada’s voice spikes. “Like the hotel or Vegas?”

“Vegas,” Garrison says.

Vada shares an intense look with Winona I can’t decipher.

“Do you know why?” I ask the girls. “Why would he leave? He didn’t tell anyone, Nona.”

She stares at the rug, unblinking.

Vada pushes strands of her messy braid out of her reddened face. I think she’s angry, but I can’t even tell at who or what.

“Nona?” I say softly. “Do you want to go talk?” I pick up the basketball I left from earlier. I bounce it to her. “In the gym?”

She catches the ball while she stands up, and she nods a ton. Her eyes begin to well. “Yeah,” she croaks. “Yeah…” I hold out my hand, and this time, she takes it, but as Ryke steps toward us, she shakes her head at her dad and wipes her spilling tears. “Can I just tell Mom first? Can she tell you?” Her voice is fracturing in a worse cry.

I wrap my arms around her.

She shudders against me, and I’m so terrified of what happened. Stay strong. Breathe. Stay strong. Breathe. “Goldi,” I call out, and my dog keeps at our side.

Ryke isn’t moving. He manages to nod.

“She’ll be okay,” I assure Ryke as I guide Winona toward the gym.

Last thing I see is my husband intaking the sharpest breath. Like he’s preparing for the climb of his life.

Thank you so much for reading this month's main bonus scene! We hope you enjoyed the sequel to Daisy Calloway's Fight Night. It is such a rough night for the Core 8, and exploring what happened from their perspectives has been so much fun (in a very heartbreaking, emotional way of course).

You won't be getting an extra bonus this month because the other written content was Chapter 6 from Frog & Quinn's story. But we will be back in March with Ryke's POV in a part three as the Fight Night saga continues, and if time allows it, we're hoping to finish it early enough that the wait won't be long.

Thank you for sticking with us here on Patreon. We appreciate all the support while we're in between books. We truly work our hardest to give you all some great content here, and to see you all enjoying it is the best thing ever!!

All the love in every universe,

xoxo Krista & Becca

Dasha

Love Rose and Winona’s dynamic!

Yasti

Yes - Winona got drugged by Tate (he spiked her water bottle at school), and Vada and Easton got her out of that situation

Ellen

Such an emotional bonus! With Nona first retreating from Daisy and Daisy letting her but sending Goldi to her 🥹🥰 that is some finnnne parenting right there! And my heart breaks for Ryke and Daisy, finding out within the next month what’s going on with Winona 😭😭😭 but it’s a good thing that Nona is ready to tell Daisy.

Ellen

And that they went to Verona instead of the red death is probably good 😜 they name Verona as an 18+ club but we circus is family readers know that it’s very tame in comparison to the red death. So, good for them! Katya and Luka went there all the time, untill Katya turned 17 😘

Andrea

Not a cliffhanger 😭 but getting to see my meadows fam is always a treat 🤍

“…she is such a mini-Rose to me” whenever I read about Kinney being similar/looking up to Rose, it gets me super excited to read about their relationship 🖤
