Welcome to the newest Fizz Hangout! Every Friday, you all can stop by the weekly Fizz Hangout post and ask questions (to us or to your fellow patrons), discuss recent bonus scenes and/or podcasts with each other, and catch up on all the goodies you might've missed!

HANGOUT QUESTION: we love seeing your response to questions about the Addictedverse, and it helps facilitate some awesome discussions! Each week, there'll be a new "hangout question" that you can answer in the comments, if you wish!

Controversial question today! Which covers do you like more: people, illustrated/cartoon characters, objects, or just font/title focused? (Inspired by us dreaming about a Frog/Quinn cover!)

 Weekly Recap

Happy Friday! We are currently gearing up for all things Destructively Mine. We've been recording podcast episodes with other reader/author podcasts, and it's really made us so excited all over again about this book. It's so much fun to talk about it! Even more so than Dishonestly Yours, since that one was hard to really discuss without readers meeting the characters. It reminds us that this is why we love series so much. Getting to spend more and more time with the same characters is so very rewarding 🥰

If you haven't seen the character art of the Webs We Weave cast, you can check it out on our Instagram. We're completely obsessed with how @lilytea_art brought them all together. They truly look like how we envision them in our heads!

In Patreon news, we are working on Frog and Quinn chapters and also prepping the podcasts. Like we mentioned in some previous hangouts, these will be coming to your more mid-month, so you can expect those very soon!

In case you missed it, here's what went down this week on Patreon:

Feature: The Happenings with Krista & Becca 💕💛

front titled focus just like the addicted series🤩🤩

Megan

I like people and illustrated/cartoon covers

Kaitlyn Pasi

font/title focus or objects!! the addicted series covers are PERFECTTTT

valantina🧚🏻

front titled focus like the addicted books. they’re definitely the prettiest and look so good in my shelf!

Allyn Hamrick

I'm super partial to cartoon covers (especially if they're illustrated by bestie Haley)

Hayat

I think the cartoon covers were cute for a sec and then it turned into a ASOIAF title epidemic where everyone was basically doing the same thing and only altering it slightly 😭 so i think object covers like addicted/Calloway sisters and BB are more my speed! Also yay can’t wait for more Quinn and Kannika !!

mayyve

I like font/title covers more. Abstract, nature designs as well like the Addicted books (flowers). ✨sadly, Im not a fan of people covers (first ed for like us series)

Mary

I LOVE the style of the Like Us series. I also love the Phantasma by Kylie Smith cover! So florals. TJ Klune also has pretty covers

Natalie 👽🤍

When it comes to people covers the OG kiss the sky with Rose I love. The rock climbing along Way Down is one of my favorites!!

brenna

illustrated are my favorite UNLESS they’re like elsie silver’s oop chestnut springs couple covers

brenna

still dreaming about the powerless couple cover

Willow Crossley-Henderson

Honestly anything but real people on covers. I think everyone pictures characters a little differently in their head so seeing real people on covers kind of messes the book up for me. I won’t buy a book with those covers. Anything else is great to me❤️

Piper

I love more scenic covers (like landscapes and nature or where there is person but you can't quite tell what they look like). One of my favorite covers was the original A Long Way Down. I might be in the minority, but I'm not a big fan of cartoon covers and I really dislike florals.

Dasha

i like painted covers with scenic landscapes or painted people, and easter eggs on the cover are a great bonus

Dalila

Firstly a cover for Quinn/frog would be INCREDIBLE!! Personally I go more for discreet so anything cartoon and with items of the cover because I love that while I’m reading the book I can check the front and back to find important items from the book! I’ve always loved that in discreet covers! I honestly don’t like people covers BUT anything that is KB people cover I’m getting!!!! So my addicted and like us people covers are almost both complete!!🫣🙂‍↕️✨

.

I think i prefer a cover that is inspired by characters storyline more than cartoon or people? You know like a cover that tells the story through objects and what makes those books different than the rest.

Sherri Caddell

I like the covers with people on them and beautiful images

Teresa

I prefer covers like burn Bright. I dont really like cartoon characters on my book covers and the cover models are ok if I don't see a face.

Ellen

I like the illustrated cartoon ones most. Especially the like us ones, with the meaningfull objects and distance apart. I see so many (non kbr) cartoon covers that are meaningless to the story though and then I don’t like them…

m

I prefer the people covers in LU very much pretty in the face. But also I like the burn bright cover. Not a fan of cartoon at all I’m afraid.

Yasti

I like object covers, or font/title covers the best!! I feel like they can be trendy and timeless at the same time, and overall I just prefer the aesthetics. BB is my fave cover of yours by far, followed by Kiss The Sky and Fuel The Fire (the rereleased versions)! 🩷 special shoutout to Dishonestly Yours, it’s so stunning, I love everything about it 🤩 I liked cartoon covers at first but not so much anymore (though the Like Us special editions are really cute).

Maribel S

I like covers with profiles of people, objects, and just simple titles. Not cartoon characters. For new authors that I’ve never read before I tend to judge a book by its cover, I know I know I shouldn’t but the cover it was catches my attention for a new author. Authors that I love ( like you two) cover doesn’t matter; sure I’ll judge but will always read.

Ellieeeee

Absolutely no people hahaha, if it has a person on the cover I’m not buying a physical copy 😂💀

mayyve

Definitely me 🤣

mayyve

Kiss the Fire cover is also one of my absolute fave ✨

Ellieeeee

People covers are either overly sexy or they’re ugly 😂😭

Kim Tymchyn

I'm partial to illustrated, object/title covers....HOWEVER if the people cover has a model I find attractive or I find the cover particularly hot I will buy the people cover...for example I have unlucky like us and nobody like us in both the people and illustrated covers 🥰🥰

Bri

i adoreee the title/object covers but that’s because i’m so shy reading in public lol! the illustration covers are sooo gorgeous and always make my shelf look better!! bit off topic but have either of you watched cirque du soleil:without a net? i randomly picked it as a post-exam watch and absolutely LOVED IT! definitely considered pulling a Thora James for a moment or two 😂🩷✨

Lexy K

I loved the people covers in the LU series for Moffy and Farrow’s books because they looked exactly like I was picturing them! Normally, I usually like the title/design most though. I really like the Addicted series covers. I also love the Burn Bright cover, it’s so pretty and I’m obsessed with the designed edges it’s going to have!

Lucia

My favorites are title or object centered designs!

Morgan and Maria

I love an object cover or an illustration cover! I love the colourfulness of the illustrated like us series and how you can associate each book with a colour but with the addicted series the white with the title and object looks sooo sleek and uniform while not being generic

Arrow

I just like covers that fit the book and the series well. It doesn’t matter to me what they are as long as they fit the book (or books in the case of a series). I love the Like Us series special edition covers a lot because they just fit the series so well. I thought the illustrations were cute & I liked how you both had such a supportive fan do them. I thought that really made those books special. What I don’t really like is when publishers decide to take a series in another direction mid-series. When they do this, the books in the series do not match one another, which is frustrating I think for both authors and readers. Emily Rath recently had a TikTok about this. Apparently, she went hybrid on her famous Jacksonville Rays series and the publishers for the print editions decided to change the direction of the covers on book 2 - which means the covers for the first edition of the series did not match. I really felt for her. That series was a huge hit, likely because of her decision to go hybrid. So she clearly made the right call. In the TikTok she talked about how she felt that, in retrospect, she could have advocated more for keeping the covers the same than she did, but, at the time, she just wanted to keep the publisher happy. I think her fans understand this, though. All of this is to say - covers can be tricky! But I am sure I will like whatever you choose as the creators.

hannah

Obsessed with all your covers! I prefer object or illustrated over people! People covers are hit or miss for me. Haley’s illustrated covers are seriously my all time fave though!

Abby (Eliot’s version)

I don’t really have a preference and often find myself drawn to the title rather than a cover… with covers I just like that I can tell what kind of book/genre I’m getting based on colors, font, objects, or people! Like fluffy looking covers don’t vibe with dark romance, cartoonish covers don’t work with romantasy, etc… I’m so excited for DM coming out in 10 days 🎉😍 I can’t wait to talk about it with everyone and then listen to the DY/DM podcast next month 🌸🖤

Dixie

illustrated/cartoon couple, ( love this especially the Like Us illustrated covers <3

Teresa

Hey KBR I have a few questions, hope your having a great easter weekend. 1. If it's not to much of a spoiler can you tease if we will find out more about Phoebe's father than what was mentioned in the first book of the Webs we weave series ? 2. Have you discussed when you plan to reveal new pinterst boards for the CE series? 3. In the books Ben is described as having baby blue eyes. What shade of blue eye color does Harriet have? Gray-blue eyes, electric blue eyes, sapphire blue eyes , Aqua blue eyes etc.. Thanks ❤️

Angelina (Charlies version) ♟️

I also don't really have a preference!! I'm so excited for everyone to read DM because it is SO good with all the twists and turns and THE FEELINGSSS also I'm super excited for more Frog & Quinn

Illyana

Hey girls! Just popping in to clock some engagement on these past weekly hangouts, I’ve been meaning to share a few of my thoughts, especially on the topic of covers and design! So first off, I loved what you did with the illustrated editions, all those little easter eggs tucked into the artwork? Perfection. They’re the kind of designs that reward readers who really know the world and characters. But I also have to say… I have such a soft spot for the Like Us covers with real people on them. Especially the Moffy & Farrow covers, they’re just so raw and intimate, and I think a big part of that is because the models you chose match the characters so well. It really elevates the connection, like we’re seeing into their world just a little more. That said, I think what trumps it all for me is uniformity. That’s my #1 priority when it comes to covers in a long-running series. I’m not really a fan of when different books in a series all have completely different art styles or vibes, it pulls me out of the experience. One of the best examples I can think of is the Realm of the Elderlings series. Those covers are so understated and cohesive across fifteen books, and even though they’re kind of minimal and abstract, they leave a lot to the imagination. You don’t know exactly what the book is about from the cover, but it invites you in just enough. I love that balance. It also helps that the series itself is structured with mini-trilogies and duologies inside the main arc, so the cohesion in design adds to that feeling of a larger universe with smaller stories nestled inside. It’s all about harmony for me—especially when the series spans years or even decades, like the Addicted Universe. I totally get that things evolve (and should!) and there’s always the chance to go back and reimagine things, especially with a universe that’s still growing. But when a book is part of a larger whole, especially when we’re following overlapping characters, I personally value design consistency over even the most stunning stand-alone visuals. Also! A fun comic tangent: I loved what Marvel was doing with the Dawn of X X-Men trade paperbacks. The way they organized all the chapters across different titles into one cohesive format was amazing. It gave everything such a nice rhythm and made it easier to follow the full narrative arc. But I’m so annoyed that they just stopped releasing them after the Trials of X era. Now we’re back to buying individual runs again, which really messes with the flow and the collection vibe! Mid-series design switch-ups like that are the worst. Anyway…those are my rambly thoughts on covers and uniformity! Would love to hear what you think about them, and what kind of design aesthetics you’re drawn to personally! Lots of love, Laura

Krista & Becca Ritchie

Sorry just now seeing this, and I'm sure you might know some of these answers! 1. Yes you will! 2. We haven't given an exact timeframe when we'll reveal more Pinterest Boards for CE. Sometimes we feel like they might reveal too much, but it's totally possible we'll reveal more before Burn Bright to get some excitement going. 3. She has ocean blue eyes, as described by Ben 💙

Krista & Becca Ritchie

I still remember you talking about how much you loved the people covers for the Like Us series when we were in Paris! It makes me love them even more having that memory and hearing your passion/insight towards them 🥰🥰

Teresa

Thank you ❤️
