 Weekly Recap

Happy Friday, magical & heroic beauties! We are finally back at home after being on tour for Destructively Mine and we had the absolute best time meeting so many readers! And we were gobsmacked by how many people said they started our books with the LIKE US SERIES 🫨 Also hearing that it was so many reader's favs literally made our whole month. There's something about that series that has the softest parts of our heart. Maybe because was know the Addicted Series is the most popular (in terms of sales numbers!) so it makes us cradle our other books a little bit more. Likewise, it gives us all the warm fuzzies hearing good things about Webs We Weave. And so many readers LOVE that series that it had our cheeks hurting from all the smiles. Also...it was a blast hearing all the theories about Hailey's love interest. SO MANY THEORIES 🧐

And the biggest thank you to all of you who bought the book during release and made it a USA Today bestseller!! It took Dishonestly Yours a second week to land on the list, so for Destructively Mine to hit it instantly really surprised us in the best way 🥹🌸🩷 Thank you so much for showing up for it! We are forever grateful for your support.

Now that it's out in the world, we are hard at work finishing up the final book. We're so excited to make it a super satisfying conclusion for all of you. Here on Patreon, we're cooking up all the monthly things for May: podcasts, chapters for Frog and Quinn, and fun tidbits. And in case you missed it, here's what went down this week:

Andrea

Probably fantasy! So happy to hear you’re back home and that the tour went well 🤍

Arrow

Based on the line-up of books I’ve selected for when I return to my train commute - sci-fi/paranormal romance!

Jess

I have been on a Romantasy kick this year thus far.

Lexy K

I’m glad you guys had a great tour and congrats on hitting the USA Today bestseller list during the first week!! My other fave genre to read outside of romance are thrillers 📖

Teresa

Iam back in my sports romance phase but will be back in my dark romance phase at the end of the month.

Cam

dark romance and ya mostly🙂‍↕️

Cam

waait 'Hailey's love interest.' singular? oml😭

Abby (Eliot’s version)

I’m currently in a romantasy, RH, and dark romance kick… I had the BIGGEST book hangover after Onyx Storm came out in Jan and Kiss the Villain by Rina Kent got me out (kinda 🫣😂 cause I’m currently listening to OS since the graphic audio came out which I HIGHLY recommend)… getting more into audiobooks which is a different reading experience! But I switch sub-genres with my moods so I may read the fluffiest fluff that’s ever fluffed then jump into the darkest of dark then the most out there fantasy lol I’m soooo glad you guys had fun on tour and that you’re back at it with DO! Can’t wait to see how the series ends 👀😍 happy writing/editing ladies!!

Abby (Eliot’s version)

I think they may be trying to stay away from spoilers since it’s only been out a week! I’m holding out for my ship with my fingers and toes crossed 🤞🏻

Cam

I'm with you!

Abby (Eliot’s version)

It’s lived rent free in my head since Nov and hearing we will get Hailey’s POV in the book?? Um yes please, now, and thank you

We can't wait for you to see how her romance unfolds in Dangerously Ours. It's a HUGE part of the book!

Abby (Eliot’s version)

It’s one of my favorites, after God of Fury (which if you haven’t read yet I HIGHLY recommend… the audiobook is perfection as well - Teddy Hamilton and Shane East were *chef’s kiss* incredible) Enjoy KTV when you get around to reading it!!!

Cam

that's so exciting 😭! I really liked hailey's arc in dm can't wait to see how things go in do for everyone. especially trevor and phoebe!

Illyana

Hey girls, happy Friday! Just checking in here and adding my little contribution. 🍿 My favourite genre outside of the KBR universe, which I read constantly as part of my routine, would probably surprise no one. As I’ve always said, I’m always reading a KBR novel to sleep, so I don’t consider myself a regular romance reader in the conventional sense. Back in 2015 when I discovered the Addicted series, I became completely hooked. Since then, my experience of romance has primarily been through KBR novels. They’ve actually incentivised me to branch out and try more romance in general, even outside of your universe. Within the romance genre, the stories I consistently return to include the All Souls series. It blends found family, romance, history, and a beautiful touch of dark academia, which I adore. Occasionally, I’ll read MM novels as well (but I don’t like standalone novels so they never tug on my heartstrings for long unfortunately or have me as equally vested) because I seek out that representation and those insights. Also, can I just say, I don’t know if you realise this, but you’re fantastic at writing MM relationships. 😍 I genuinely enjoy reading them so much. Can’t wait for more! I also love the classics, although those are books I used to read more often than I do now. These days, I’m very much on a fantasy kick — probably 80% of what I read is epic fantasy. I love the high-functioning, intellectually engaging aspect of high fantasy. It demands something from the reader, and I find that incredibly rewarding. At the moment, I’m deep into Malazan Book of the Fallen. I’m currently on Book Four, House of Chains, and it is without a doubt the most difficult fantasy series I’ve ever read — even more than Brandon Sanderson or Realm of the Elderlings. It requires so much from the reader, and honestly, I’m reading it like a Padawan under a Jedi Master. I’ve got a friend who’s read the whole series and is helping guide me through it. You really need someone like that because of how dense and complex the series is. It’s a beautiful challenge though. Of course, I’m also a big fan of Brandon Sanderson. While his work is considered high fantasy, I wouldn’t call it “hard” fantasy. His magic systems are where the complexity lies, and I enjoy that a lot. Every time one of his novels drops, it feels like an MCU event — consistent, entertaining, and always quality. He also makes it so fun to be part of the fandom and it’s zero toxic. He provides his fans with board games (I have the deck card building one for example!), art, swag to celebrate and feel part of something so rewarding. That said, I wouldn’t say they’ve changed me as a person the way KBR, Malazan, or Realm of the Elderlings have. Still, I go out of my way to get the signed editions, and I collect the leather bounds when I can. And always, always, I think about Xander and what he would think of all these books. His future novel is genuinely one of my most anticipated because I adore the fan culture, pulp references, and nerdy threads that run through the Like Us series. I really hope that kind of energy will continue through the Cobalt Brothers books too. They’re not quite like the Hales in that respect, and I’m curious to know whether that vibe will be just as present. As you know, I also read a lot of comics. I’m currently obsessed with the Power Rangers comics by Boom! Studios. I’ve mentioned why in past hangouts, so I won’t go into full detail again, but in short — they’re incredible. Imagine a CW soap crossed with early 2000s X-Men and New Mutants Academy, all wrapped in gorgeous, expressive artwork. It’s ensemble-heavy, emotional, action-packed in a way that serves character, and just so well done. Sales are booming, pun intended, and it deserves all the love. I’m convinced Xander would be into them, especially since I believe he once dressed as a Power Ranger. I need to know if he’d be reading the comics too. They’re just so good. Honestly, I think Lily and Lo would be obsessed as well. The Red Ranger, Max, is such a Lorne Hale type — visually and emotionally. He’s got that dry zing of sweetness mixed with Helion-style sass, and I really think they’d all enjoy it. If you’re even remotely curious, please start with Go Go Power Rangers, Volume 1. It’s the best jumping-in point, and I’d love to know what you think if you ever give it a go. Anyway, would love to hear what you’re currently reading, watching, or consuming yourselves. Wishing you a lovely Friday — I’m off to the office now. Take care and lots of love, Laura

Malazan Book of the Fallen sounds really good, but so does the Power Rangers comics!! A CW soap combined with early 2000s X-Men is seriously RIGHT UP MY ALLEY OMG!! I'm going to go get Go Go Power Rangers right now! Thank you for the rec, Laura!! xoxo
