Alternate Universe: Our Scrapped Ideas Edition! Addictedverse Plots & Characters That "Could've Been" but "Never Were"

July's poll has ended, and the results are in! We'll be taking a walk down memory lane and discussing some plots and characters that "could've been" but were ultimately scrapped by us. And thus, we landed on the final versions we love so much. It should be a super fun one, and trust us, some of the old plots were...outlandish 🤣 Particularly what we scrapped for Kiss the Sky. If you know about this already, we'll be revisiting it on this pod again! As time keeps trekking on, our recollection of the past gets hazier, but we'll be going over the big things that we DO remember being trashed on the cutting room floor ☺️

I think you may have mentioned something to that effect in one of the podcasts but I’m not sure which one and I can’t remember exactly what you said 🙈

In a previous podcast, you mentioned that Maria and Oscar were originally planned to be together. What was the storyline supposed to look like before you decided to make Jack Oscar’s love interest instead? Was their relationship meant to be part of the Like Us series from the start? And what made you initially want to pair Maria and Oscar?

Could you share more about the very first draft of Addicted to You? You’ve mentioned before that Lily and Lo originally had a completely different storyline — and that Lily even had a different love interest. We’d love to know more about what that early version looked like. Do you still have that original draft, and have you ever considered sharing it with readers one day?

this is kinda off topic, BUT, i’ve always wanted to ask. if you guys could have created another calloway sister, what would she have been like? (her name, career, personality) and what would her storyline have looked like? i always thought while reading the books that it’d been nice if daisy had a sister around her age. (maybe a singer or something close to the entertainment industry so they could relate to one another.)

i recently re-read the books and realized how obvious it was that jack was originally supposed to be a part of sulli’s throuple. so what made you guys scrap jack, and go with banks instead? did banks have an original storyline before that? or would he have been more of a side character had he not gotten with sulli and akara?

Omg I love this podcast idea!! In SKOP we see Maria babysitting some of her cousins, were there ever scenes of the core six babysitting Maria? Or ig what do you think would’ve happened if she spent the day with lilo, coballoway, or raisy?

I may be pushing my luck with this one since it’s about CE but was there ever a point where you guys considered a city other than nyc? Since Charlie and Beckett lived there before LU even started I’m assuming you guys knew it was gonna be nyc since at least DLU but before that was there any other city in contention? If not, why New York?

Who was the closest alternative romance interest for Donnelly, Luna, Moffy and Farrow? And why did you decide not to entertain that option and go with what we have now in Canon? 😊

Not that you had to cut for page length or ones you want to do as bonuses, but like a storyline you entertained or how they’d get together or a side plot for another character or was it just always what it is? There's so many interesting side characters in the addicted and like us universe so I was wondering if there are any characters/concepts (or even potential love interests) who were meant to come back/appear more in the books but didn't or likely won't in the future ones. If yes, which one(s)?

We've seen Lo struggle with his addiction on many occasions. Was there ever a time you thought of having Ryke struggle with his for example when he lost Adam Sully or when he was recovering from his leg injury and seemed to be in a dark place?

We're there any of the cobalt children that you considered having a career that was involved more with academics ? I know we dont know Audreys future career yet but of the other 6 children were any of them ever going to follow the acdemic role that Rose and Connor love to do.

I have a question about eliot and winnifred BUT i’m not asking for spoilers. BUT if they do end up together it would kinda be a romeo and juliet trope bc their families hate each other. I think this is perfect bc eliot loves the drama. My question isn’t one of confirmation, but have y’all thought this is interesting when y’all have seen them shipped together?

Why oh why have we never gotten Jane and Thatchers actual wedding on page?! I know you were going with the People Like Us idea and I’m sure that was supposed to be there but was there another reason it never made a bonus scene? That’s one thing their fans need 🥺

You guys mention how most of the time you’re both on the same page for something but has there ever been a time one of you was pushing to have a certain plot (no matter how small) and the other one just wasn’t having it? Or maybe needed a lot of convincing?

When you originally wrote the first 3 addicted to you books did u plan to switch from single pov to dual pov after ricochet? Or did u just realize during writing that u wanted lo’s pov? Off that… if u were able to go back in time and rewrite addicted to u and ricochet, would u make it dual pov?

I could totally be wrong, but is it true that u two are no longer going to write people like us? If so, why did y’all decided to scrap it? If y’all had realized sooner that you were not going to write it would that have changed some of your decisions about scenes included in the series. Like would y’all have included scenes that u planned for people like us in other books? And/or given any other characters like Jane and thatcher another book?

Pivotal scenes in addicted series narrated by other characters point of view, not necessarily the one narrating that particular book. For example, Rhyke and Lo’s interactions when he visited him at rehab. They became close. But, what they talked about ? Did they discussed their feelings about being brothers ? Bottom line, additional bonus scenes in addicted series would be welcomed.

1. I think it was said previously that Sulli and Jack were originally supposed to be together. If it had gone that way what would their storyline be/ what would key parts of their romance have been? 2. Was the Stokes family, specifically Maria, supposed to play a bigger part in the addicted novels than they did? 3. A little unrelated but when did you guys create Willows character and decide she was going to be apart of the books Also unrelated and you might now be able to answer but with previous novels the first chapter of the book came out a little before the release date do you think you'll release it days in advance like past books or will we possibly get it sooner?

I know you guys have said originally you were thinking about Sulli being with Akara and Jack, and Oscar with Maria but that obviously didn't happen. So I'm curious if there are more love interests/romantic pairings for any HMCs you were thinking about/leaning towards that you've scrapped that we don't know about.
