All About Beckett Cobalt, Leo Valavanis, and Joana Oliveira in Burn Bright

October's poll came early this year! And the results are in. We'll be focusing on Beckett, Joana, and Leo's moments within Burn Bright for October. It's going to be such a fun look at these three characters, who had some epic situations and moments we only just touched upon in the big All About Burn Bright pod. So to dive deeper is going to be a treat!

I know its not as popular as MF so I wondered if you had a plan for new readers who might be surprised that its MMF and you will announce there relationship a little earlier to get people used to the idea?

Have you already planned out the storyline between Beckett, Leo, and Jo, or is that something you’re saving to explore as the series moves forward? I’m really curious to know if their dynamic has already been outlined, especially since all three of them seem like they could have such interesting connections and layered storylines. Will we get to see more of their interactions sooner rather than later, similar to how you mentioned Roxanne and Charlie’s relationship will gradually build as the series progresses? It feels like their bond could add a lot of depth, so I was wondering if that’s something you’ve already decided on or if you’re waiting to see how the story naturally unfolds.

In Burn Bright, during Pink Noir at Beckett and Charlie’s birthday, there’s that scene where Ben finds Beckett and Leo in what he perceives as a heated argument. But the way it’s written, it also feels charged—almost sensual—like there’s more going on beneath the surface than just conflict. That moment really stood out, and it seemed like it could carry some deeper meaning or foreshadow something bigger. Will that particular scene be referenced again or play a more important role in the future books, or was it meant to be more of a subtle, in-the-moment detail? 🫣

It goes unnoticed that he loves it when Jo’s putting him in his place.

I also want to mention that I do think that there is a passionate fanbase for both queer + poly novels! :) There are authors that write it often, and are successful. Sierra Simone is one that I **adore**! Her “Thornchapel” series is one of my absolute favorites, I reread it all of the time! It does sadden me a bit when I see comments about stories featuring diverse relationship dynamics not being the “norm”, and therefore having to be spoon-fed to others in an attempt to make it more palatable for them to consume. While some might not want to read a book featuring a poly couple, there are others that will pick up said book 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 it features a polyamorous relationship. It opens the door up to a whole new group of potential CE readers (which is super exciting)! :’) 🤎🤎🤎

My question is with a 3 person POV wouldn't that make the book chunky as your not just introducing Becketts backstory and current personal problems, but Joannas and Leo's aswell, in addition just the ballet and fighting world in general . I didn't know what it meant either, so I had to do some research before writing my comment to ask correctly my question, but basically what I understood is: MMF is when all three are in a relationship, and MFM is when the two men are in a relationship with the woman but not with each other. For example, Sulli, Banks, and Akara have an MFM relationship because Banks and Akara are not in love with each other, they are only in love with Sulli. I hope that makes sense 😂😂

Definitely curious on this, we have seen Charlie blackmail Sulli to help Beckett, track down Ben after he leaves Pink Noir to try and help him as a birthday gift for Beckett. He was immediately there to try and help Beckett through his OCD attack. (Poor Charlie gets a bad wrap sometimes but he actually tries to help a lot more than is immediately obvious) I know Beckett apologizes for Charlies behavior to others but does he do things to help protect him or make him happy in return?

It’s been fun to see different characters perspectives of Beckett and Charlie. In a previous book (NLU) Luna mentioned she thinks Charlie is the angel and Beckett the devil while others see the opposite. Ben clearly thinks Beckett is the angel and Charlie the devil in the beginning of Burn Bright. For Beckett and Charlie, who do you two think (from your personal perspective) is the devil and who is the angel? And for fun, would you classify Joana and Leo as angels or devils?

In Burn Bright when Beckett lost his composure alittle in the back alley of Pink Noir with Ben. How surprised was Leo and Roxanne at Becketts outburst, has he never done that before and did they question him later on what was wrong ?

In one of the bonus scenes it was revealed that Leo had been married before and is now divorced. Could you tell us more about that, or will we be seeing it explored when Beckett’s book comes out—or possibly even sooner?

This might be a little off topic and more music-related, but while listening to Tate McRae’s ‘Like I Do,’ it struck me as the perfect song for Beckett and Leo. The lyrics capture both their rivalry and the underlying sensual tension—lines like “think you wanna be me, you should go ahead and try to” or ‘you’re so composed it’s insufferable’ and ‘I can’t tell if you wanna kill me or kiss me’ really fit their dynamic. I’d love to hear your thoughts—do you see the same connection?

in both scenes of joana and leo with beckett in burn bright he seemed to always has this affect on both of them as he has the upper hand, with joana she’s the one that was staggering in her heels while he was talking mostly calmly so it was with leo when beckett used his birthday card at him and leo just obediently left, What does that say about beckett mostly i need yall to explore in details both scene of him and his behaviors with them

Pip is the protagonist in Great Expectations… his full name is Philip Pirrip (nickname Pip) which is where Connor took Ben’s middle name from after Lo chose Ben… if you meant how he felt seeing Beckett’s nickname for him in the Spanish version of Charlie’s book than ignore what I said cause I don’t know beyond what BB told us lol

Do you think Beckett, Leo, and Jo’s relationship or story will have a similar vibe to the movie Challengers?

Ben described Beckett (and Charlie) as having angelical features, but Charlie ad the demon whereas Luna said she would give the halo to Charlie and the devil horns to Beckett (I don’t remember which book). Do Joanna and Leo also see Beckett more of a devil/demon than the angel we see from other peoples POV?

A more general question about Wednesday night dinners. Harriet isn't allowed to go yet because her and Ben's relationship is still fairly new and Rose worries about breakups. Will this apply to the rest of the upcoming Cobalt love interests, including Joana and Leo, or will there be some exceptions? Because I don't remember this rule/worry when Thatcher and Jane got together, but I guess their situation is different because Thatcher is a bodyguard and he also completed the loyalty cards 😭

For example: when Leo flirts with Tom there is clearly an underlying reason of it pissing off Beckett, I don’t think this will happen but hypothetically— at this point in their development — would Leo go as far as to do something like make out with Tom just to have a good time and push Beckett’s buttons?

Beckett is notoriously private about his sex life and yet when Harriet is right there and he asks Jo if she’s realized she’s rather be pounded from behind— by him. Is this a sign that he has less control around Jo and slipped or is it just a sign that Harriet is more of the inner circle now so he doesn’t care? These kinds of interactions make me wonder if despite being private he might actually have a decent amount of PDA in his relationship?

I'm pretty sure I read Donnelly in one of his books saying that he saw Beckett 'pick people up' in clubs. The use of 'people' instead of 'girls' gave me pause as it is very much a deliberate choice in the writing. However, in Ben's POV he ponders about Beckett's sexuality and says that he wouldn't hide it, mostly because it'd be important for Tom. Can we get some clarity on this or is it too spoilery? Thank you!

Not really a question but a fun fact. A common nickname for little kids named Joana in Brazil is Joaninha. “Inha” is a term of endearment, means little, cute. Joaninha is also ladybug 🐞 in Portuguese. I wonder if Joana had ladybug things growing up, or if her family called her that. (Sorry for any mistakes, english is not my first language)

Can you confirm if Beckett's book will be the longest one since we will have three POV ? You will have to write the dynamic between each of them (I mean Beckett and Jo, Beckett and Leo, and Leo and Jo) and then all three of them together. Plus the Cobalt brothers dynamic. I feel like this is a storyline for more than just one book. I've read a lot of MMF/MFM romances, and it feels like the romance revolve only around the girl, and it lacks the relationship and romance (in case of MMF) between the guys. What are your plans ? Are you afraid to give this impression too in Beckett book ?
