Happy Friday, lovelies! Thank you all for joining us here this month of May 💕 Non-release months are always the months we really appreciate you all so very much, especially since this might be (it probably is!) the longest we've gone without a new release. Of course, we've been having TONS of new editions with new bonus release, but it's definitely not the same as 400+ pages of new content. So during this waiting period, we really are grateful for all your support on Patreon. It means everything to us 💖

Last week, we asked you all about the option to change to the new subscription billing system -- and an overwhelming majority of you said you'd have preferred to be charged on the same date you join and then monthly on that exact same date. Thank you all so much for your input!

We've decided that will be updating to this new billing system on Monday, May 15th.

What's changing: We'll charge new patrons the date they join, then monthly on that same date (instead of the 1st of the month).

Existing patrons won’t see any changes, and are still charged on the 1st of the month.

This change is permanent and cannot be reversed, so it will be set in stone starting on Monday.

I just finished re-reading SKOP and it got me soo excited about reading more books about the kids I noticed in the scene where moffy was being grounded by lo when lo said to him that you can hate me but i will always love you, moffy actually talked about that scene in one of his books which i reallyy loved and i wish would happen more (where we see the kids talking about moments we saw in SKOP!) hope we see some in ULU. Also, in SKOP goodbye 1 lo gave lily a necklace thats similar to their engagement ring and it got me thinking that it would be awesome if that necklace would make an appearance in ULU ! *maybe lily giving it as an heirloom to luna🤭🙈* just an idea thoughh🙈🙈

Iam really excited about meeting some of the Donnelly family, they are the most never seen on page but mentioned in almost all the books characters. Also, would like to see more of the new characters, Frog and Harriet and any Cobalt brother woukd do but I need atleast one good scene with Beckett and Donnelly, I don't think Donnelly has really let his problems with how Beckett treated him off his chest and I need a more angst filled conversation with them.

I really hope there's more of the Donnelly journal entries, because the man had me ROLLING every time one popped up in MLU! I just love his sense of humor and it was so pure and unbridled in those entries for the most part, I can't wait until the chaos clears and he gets to be fully happy Donnelly all the time! OO character I am most excited to see in Unlucky will probably be Marrow's reaction/proxy support, or un-support of Lunalley (Farrow supporting his best friend, Moffy supporting his husband) and probably Charlie's ongoing relation with Luna. I think they're dynamic is probably the most interesting. Lots of folks likened their relationship with Lily and Connor but i feel like Charlie entertains and is more prone to give Luna more credit than Connor ever does (not because he doesn't trust her, but maybe just because of his world-wide systemic distrust of everyone generally). So yeah! <3

And Happy Monday chicas! I have been CONSUMED this weekend watching and playing the decisions/ character driven game called, 'The Wolf Among Us' and it's absolutely BRILLIANT! It's a game that's based on the comic book universe (which i also finished last night which is my second reread!) called Fables! Okay i haveeee to tell u about it wait let me pitch it to you and sell it to you :PP It is under the same publishing house and like cult-following that Sandman has under Vertigo! Very much a pocketed gem within the DC comic book community. They tried adapting it to the show, Once Upon a Time, but it was SO BAD, and SO DIFFERENT from what the initial intention was that they probably won't ever adapt it again. Which is fair, it just means if one wants to enjoy the joy of Fables, they HAVE to taste it in the comic book community form :)) Which is funny because it's the comic book run that has won the most awards (it's won 14 Eisner Comic Book awards which are as u know the oscars for comics!). It had a formal ending in 2015ish with Issue 150, but then JUST LAST YEAR JUST MY LUCK WHEN I STARTED THE SERIES, It started up again with the same creative team (Bucky = Artist, Leihola = inks, Bill = Creator/writer) and as i read it ongoing rn, it shows no signs of stopping and its all centered around the beautiful family between two love birds (i won't spoil) as it continues to materialise! Woot woot! Thank GOD! ahaha. I really really recommend checking out the game as a precursor as it takes place 20 years BEFORE the comics, and explains a little bit of lore (I JUST KNOW YOU GUYS WILL LOVE IT) or the comics! The game took a more Rated R Crime Thriller noir route which REALLY works, while the comics are more classical and timeless Epic Fantasy, but still very explicit (swearing, nudity, dark themes, SA etc.). Lots of people from the adaptation went after the comics and heavily criticzed it for not being 'like the game' i think that's not fair -.-. Per usual adaptation folk have to wreck source material -.-. They aim to do two different things but still amazing in their own right. The comics is to world build and create an epic fantasy and yes there are consequences to everything unlike what he said, vs the game is very self contained, low fantasy, but is more focused on the social commentary of discriminated folks. I saw a lot of people slag of the comics coming from the game, but i don't think that's a fair assessment. And IG they don't really understand comic book arcs and overarching arcs etc. But anyway, I digress :) Its not too expensive (like 10 quid here in the UK) too and its SOO INTRUGIING I WAS GLUED TO MY SCREEN ALL WEEKEND XD. But back to the subject matter, essentially what the fables universe is- an ensamble cast (almost like the X-Men if the X-Men had a solid vision and so no messy conflictual creative directions i.e. ship wars or unexplained deaths etc. ) but using fairy tale characters (i.e. Snow white, The Big Bad Wolf, Hansel and Grettle, Pinnochio, Beauty and the Beast etc.!) living in central NYC. It has a dynamic ensamble cast that shifts the storyline, and it centers itself on the post-modern of fairyales answering the question of what it would be like for fairy tale characters slot into a modern world. It juxtaposes their mythos with the mundane aspects of everyday life. The fables aren't fantasy characters anymore, no more princes, damsels but really just grey characters, as they are just people now trying to get by. But what Bill and Bucky did is not just jigsaw the pieces between the two aspects it really investigates the deeper thematic morales and consequences of the OG fairytales and what happens when you strip a character of their stories and gravitas and plop them into a new environment about how they will deal all would deal with their consequences/lore in the modern day. The Big Bad Wolf (Bigby for the friends) is the sherif/guardian and is our intro to the world along with Snow White who is the Deputy Mayor (he's so hot). I am so serious when I say Bigby should be played by Pedro Pascal. LOL! They’re the ones that will provide the most info about the world and the characters that will show up. Many fun twists happen along the way and you’ll get introduced to new characters in each arc, and even the characters like Flycatcher or Cinderella or heck even humpty dumpty that you completely disregard is so incredibly fleshed out and so important. Like in virtually every comic book there’s a big bad, you will not see who it is or expect it, but it’ll make sense and the creators do it in such a nuanced way, its delicious. Virtually every character that you like is in this series and you’ll come to appreciate them all the more for it. It’s not a read for the weak, this series requires commitment, but it’s rewarding enough that the payoff to investment is very worth it and heartfelt. There is romance, pining, forever friendship, sibiling rivalry, generational trauma addressed, political intrigue, great wars and even a take on eternals, marriages, themes about the afterlife, family building, love continued after marriage and so much more! Fables is unafraid to spend an entire issue just following a kid on their adventure, or follow Pinocchio entertain his comic book tropes he wants to Larp b/c he wants to be a hero or an entire issue of Rose Red biulding a table or 2 christmas sole issues following Santa Claus as he meets The Wolf. And make no mistake, this is not a series for kids, very adult themes are talked about and some scenes can feel very gory but it’s not for just the sake of it. You’ll love it. I promise :). Sadly, we likely won't have time to do character notes at events anymore. W tested it out at Orlando last year, and it was a little difficult to do and made the line longer. Ah I loveeeee your breakdown of Fables! Honestly, I've seen those comics at bookstores for YEARS but I've never really even tried to read them. I've always loved the art though! But I love the whole concept, and the game sounds awesome too, especially since it takes place almost like a prequel to the comics (which is VERY intriguing!). I might need to go buy volume 1 of the comics, especially bc even if I can't get into it, the art is pretty enough for the shelf anyway 😍 ~ B

Trust me you won't regret it!!! 😇😎🥳🥳 I think while like, Flash is an amazingly nuanced superhero character i'd advocate anyone should read because with the flash, you never really have to suspend your disbelief all that much b/c the writers always finesse a way to it in a very convincing way that the speed force is real and scientifically *makes sense* 🤌. While with Fables, you can really pick it up at any point the comics are timeless 🌲🪷! The world building, complex ensamble cast and amazing morales are just timeless! And just our luck for us fans becoming fans when the series has been rebooted and has an ongoing! hehe! I often muse WHICH Hale member would probably be drawn to Fables or the Flash comics.. and I think it might actually be Willow (b/c i think she might be into how charming and sweet a lot of the characters are and be in it for the romances).i think Xander would be in it for the world building and how amazing the pay off for each arcs is, always trying to predict what's to come, and figure out which character's arc is next. And of course, be drawn to the very timeless tolkein-esque feel to the comics. For Flash... IDK. As we've spoken Barry Allen reminds me deeply of Ben, so if Ben were ever into comics... maybe him...? 💥 But i'll leave it in your hands to make the ultimate decision hehe! 💭🧐🥰 (And pls keep me updated if and when you do get into them! I am so seriously invested it's not even funny 🫂)
