Welcome to the newest Fizz Hangout! Every Friday, you all can stop by the weekly Fizz Hangout post and ask questions (to us or to your fellow patrons), discuss recent bonus scenes and/or podcasts with each other, and catch up on all the goodies you might've missed!

If you find a new series that you want to start, do you buy the first book only or do you buy the entire series before you start reading?

Weekly Recap

Happy Friday, magical & super heroic beauties! Becca is still on her honeymoon, which means I'm holding down the fort for just a couple more days. It's been WEIRD not having her around to talk to. I'm dying to get my twinnie back so we can discuss all things Luna & Donnelly. While she was away though, I was tasked with going through our content edits for Dishonestly Yours (yes, this book is coming together still!) and I'm quite literally obsessed with this book. It's so different from what we've written, and yet it has that same core friend/family vibe that exists in all our novels. Like as messed up as being a con artist would be, I just want to be in Rocky and Phoebe's friend group!! 😂 Needless to say, between that book and Unlucky Like Us, I'm having way too much fun being in fictional worlds.

Annnd next week, there's going to be a release of the new print edition for Hothouse Flower. Ryke and Daisy will be in bookstores, and I'm still in disbelief that this is real life. It's been so so surreal. But in the best way! PLUS, did you know June 14th marks the 10th Anniversary of Addicted to You? That means next week we've been published authors for 10 whole years, and I'm starting to realize how young we truly were when we started this journey. *pinches myself* In hindsight, we knew so little about the industry, and we've grown so much as writers and people in the process. We'll probably have some sappy post on the 14th, so stay tuned!

I’ll buy the first book only! I do use KU a lot which helps with the financial risk of not liking a book or series.

For sure only buying the first book! Sometimes I’ve thought I’d love a series but then I read the first book or even a few chapters and realise it isn’t for me. What about you? Sometimes I get the ebook or the sample :)

Definitely just buy the first book! Sadly books are way too expensive for me to buy the whole series at once if there’s a chance that I’m not going to end up liking it all 😩

I will usually just the first one unless there’s some type of sale going on haha! But if I love the first I will immediately buy the entire series (which is exactly what happened with the addicted and Calloway series, which was awesome because there were so many books 🥰)

I usually just buy the entries series. My thought process is that if i like it then i’m going to have to wait for the next one to get here so might as well just have all the books so i can read them back to back

i always start with the first book! i get a little scared of commitment when it comes to big series. i started ‘addicted to you’ on a whim without knowing how big the series was, but i immediately loved it and bought each book as i got there. ALSO! i just wanted to say that i got bored and spent 3 hours marking out the car seating charts and details of the families on their trip to the lake house. so on my wall in sticky notes, i sorted every character along with their significant others (up to current cannon) and the newfies!! i even figured out the seating chart. my love for this series is unmatched.

Since I use Audible to listen rather than read, I always start with the first book. I don’t like buying the next books in a series, especially if it’s books about sports team where each player gets a book, I play that per book. There’s been several times that I’ve already not liked a character from previous books in the series then when I read their book I hate them even more. So depending on how I feel about a character in that scenario I might skip their book and go straight to the next. Plus, I’ve bought entire series at once in the past on audible and had to return them because I couldn’t get past the first book and that’s not fair to author.

I first download a sample of the book. If I’m still interested I’ll buy the first book. If I finish the first book, I’ll likely buy the whole series. I ended up purchasing the whole Like Us series after the 2nd book. Then I bought the Addicted series once I finished that.

If im not sure I’ll like it I’ll buy the first book and then half way through if im enjoying it I’ll buy all the others so the second can arrive before I’ve finished the first but if I am sure ill love it I just buy them all at once and start as soon as the first arrives! First book only, and usually I buy the ebook first and if I love it then I start with the physical copies. It's what I did with the addicted Calloway books, I got all their ebooks and now I've been buying the physical copies with the rereleases :) Oh and I've been thinking, I would love to see a bonus scene from Donelly or Oscar's POV from the time they were together in NYC with Charlie and Beckett. I'm super intrigued by the dynamics between the four. And super excited about the content coming this month. (Can't wait for the What to expect about unlucky podcast) ❤️

thank you so much!!! i definitely took ben and xander being together into consideration, but like you said, due to their avoidance of each other i didn’t put them together. with that being said, if i had put girl squad together, i wasn’t very sure that ben would be with them. i’m not sure which book it was, but i know we recently found out that he’s been very distant from them. as for beckett and charlie, that makes a lot of sense. i haven’t read all the bonus scenes, but i do remember one where sulli and beckett leave later than everyone else, so that’s definitely a possibility too. i love doing things like this so much!!! it makes me so happy that you enjoyed it :)

I usually just purchase the first book in a series! It’s less of a financial commitment & I also love the feeling of finishing a book and getting to purchase the next one in the series afterwards (it’s a little reward that distracts me from the fact that I’m spending money)! :) Also — I’m not sure if you listen to Noah Kahan’s music — but he just released a song called “Call Your Mom” and it reminds me of Xander in some ways…(🥺)

Just watched it! I completely agree with your seating chart and its also made me realize that whenever poor thatcher is in a car he has to bend down!! Imagine how uncomfy that it especially on long road trips! Also imagine if they got a bus and everyone sat in the bus the chaos with everyone there would be so fun HAHAHA. I also think Jane would want to be in the Cobalts car because shes always with Thatcher so maybe she’d want to spend time with her family especially Audrey would want her too because Audrey misses all her siblings. I absolutely LOVE how much thought was put into this and how well thought out all the placements are!!

thank you so much!!! i LOVE the idea of them getting a bus, and honestly as the family grows it makes much more sense than dividing into 5+ cars. the hardest part of separating them was cars, because i have 0 clue what kind of cars people with that much money could get/rent for the trips. also, i do agree jane would probably want to be in the cobalts car. i almost ended up with her in there! i separated her just because i confused myself with seating lol. also, i think she’s much more likely to reach out to audrey than charlie and beckett. i love this so much!!! this is such a fun thing to deep dive into and hear everyone else’s opinions. thank you for watching and interacting 🫶🫶

I just had a brain wave about the similarities in Lo and rose relationship and moffy and Charlie’s — like how rose always hated that people in the family favoured Lo over her when to her he didn’t do anything to gain it and she tried so hard and how Charlie feels the same about Moffy just naturally being the family’s favorite (even tho moffy is much more involved and did more to earn that title than Lo probably did) but to Charlie it’s unfair just like rose felt.
