Welcome to the newest Fizz Hangout! Every Friday, you all can stop by the weekly Fizz Hangout post and ask questions (to us or to your fellow patrons), discuss recent bonus scenes and/or podcasts with each other, and catch up on all the goodies you might've missed!

HANGOUT QUESTION: we love seeing your response to questions about the Like Us series, and it helps facilitate some awesome discussions! Each week, there'll be a new "hangout question" that you can answer in the comments, if you wish!

Summer is almost over! Are you ready for the fall? What's your top spooky/witchy romance you're most excited about this year? (Yes, this is us not-so-slyly nudging you to give us some recommendations 😂)

Weekly Recap

Happy Friday, magical & heroic beauties! It's so nice being back with you all on a Friday. Monday just didn't hit the same. We're here for alllll the Friday vibes. What have we been up to? We just turned in our bonus content for the new edition of Long Way Down. And we must say, the text message convos in the back of that book will have you rolling. We were on a funny spree when we wrote those 😆

We're moving along with Nobody Like Us at a decent pace. As you all know, we took some time off to travel and fill our creative wells so all we want to do now is write. It's an affliction. We are obsessed! And it's so hard to get our hands away from the keyboards. We've also started plotting out what the "future" of our indie works will look like. Nobody Like Us will close up the Like Us Series in January (even if we decide to maybe add "companion" books later on, we want to make sure Nobody Like Us feels more like closure to the entire series), which means there's so many things we have to plan out. It's the first time in a really long time that we have a series ending since this has been our longest to date. It's bittersweet to have something that's been our pride and joy for so many years come closer to an end, but it's also exciting to think about new projects on the horizon.

And thankfully Patreon is here in case we ever want to revisit certain POVs ☺️

In Patreon world, we dropped on of our all-time favorite bonus scenes, so in case you missed it, here's what went down:

- Main Bonus Scene: Main Bonus #66: The Calloway Couture Fashion Ad

i’m so sad that ulu is the last book in the like us series but i’m also so excited for what you guys have in store🫶🏻

Tiffany Joiner

Will there be any books for the other cobalt boys or "Nobody Like Us" the last kids book that will be written? 😅🫢

Andrea

LU Series ending it’s the end of an era 🥲 but so much to look forward to 🥰 Can’t believe it’s almost Halloween season, I don’t have any books recs I just usually watch my favorite “scary” movies (Halloweentown and Hocus Pocus 🤣) Also that latest Cobalt bonus scene was just *chefs kiss*

Gabriela Seguesse

I'm excited to read Enchanted to meet you by Meg Cabot. 🖤 I'm hoping to read We spread, Circe, Nightb*tch, The phantom of the opera, Into the drowning deep, and Horrorstore in October 👻

Haley Secen

I’m excited to reread The Undertaking of Heart and Mercy! It had some fun spooky vibes, and was just a super cozy read when I read it last October! Also feeling so emotional thinking about you guys wrapping up the Like Us series. I know it’s not a full goodbye but omg it feels like we’ve been with this particular series for sooo long!

Miranda

I have to know will Xander get a book? 🙊 I love him sm! I need to see more of his character development after ULU. I recommend Tales of Weeping Hollow series by Nicole Fiorina, definitely fall/Halloween vibes 🍂🎃

Sascha

I just binged the zodiac academy books and i now have a bluelance obsession 😭😭 🫶

Bella Stanley

I’m currently reading the Serpent and Dove series by Shelby Mahurin. The first book was so good and was an immediate favorite for me! ♥️ I’m also anticipating the continuation series with vampires! ⚰️ I’m also starting a rewatch of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (aka my favorite tv show ever)!!!

Lauren Zaremba

My heart can’t handle thinking about like us ending. It was the first of your series that I got to pick up before it was over 🥹 can’t wait for everything to come.

Mikayla Goertz

I totally thought y’all were planning for like Beckett and Charlie and Quinn and Frog to have books and there were so many hints for other characters as well Im shocked y’all are ending it.

faith

question: for future books involving the addicted characters (i.e. the cobalt empire) will you still use patreon to publish bonus content?

cass (ben’s version)

i loved this months bonus!!! one of my all time favorites. also, y’all are amazing. i can’t believe the like us series is ending, but i cant wait to see what’s to come (we all know i’ll read anything y’all put out anyway haha). so excited for y’all! i cant wait to force my friends to read dishonestly yours so we can all talk about it ❤️❤️

Vex

The right obsession! Love Orion 👏

Skuh

They have mentioned that the cobalts are getting their own series, I think! There are a couple podcasts where they mention it🤗also I think Xander and the girl squad would get books too🤔

Mikayla Goertz

wait so this isn’t the end of all the characters just the like us series? are you sure, sure? like 1000% sure? bc i’ve been like crying for an hour and i don’t want to get my hopes up

Angelina (Charlies version) ♟️

I absolutely cannot handle Like Us ending 😭😭😭😭😭 I hope we still see them all in the cobalt empire series and if we dont I might actually cry bc I am FAR too attached to them 🥹🥹 im currently reading the sophie lark universe started with the brutal birthright series which is AMAZING and now im reading her kingmakers series with some underworld series sprinkled in 😍💃

Lauren Gibbs

The Like Us Series is the first one I've been in the fandom to follow, so I'm sad it's coming to an end on one hand. But on the other hand it leads to a future full of amazing possibility! 💕✨️😍 I think you'll have a great vision no matter which direction you choose to go, so I'm here for the ride!! 👏🏻💯👏🏻💯

Arrow

Paranormal romance is one of my favorite categories. Here are some of my favorites: Megan Derr Dance with the Devil series (demons, ghosts, witches, dragons) KJ Charles Magpie Lord Series (witches) Lily Mayne’s Monstrous series (monster romance - reminds me of something Luna would write) Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark (vampires, witches, demons, Valkyrie) Kerrelyn Sparks Love at Stake series (vampires) I’m also interested in what others are reading now, because it seems that paranormal romance and romantasy have exploded recently, especially since BookTok discovered the ACOTAR series. I’ve really loved the Like Us series and am going to be so sad when it ends. I’m oddly happy that we have to wait until January because then I won’t have to say goodbye to it for a few months at least. I am delighted you are going to follow a bunch of characters in this series in other spin-offs, though. I love all the conflict you’re developing for future books!

Julie

Bound spirit by H.A. Wills, Love paranormal romance, and this one has a little bit of all of it (witches, vampires, ghost, demons, angels) with great character building, and really fun world building.

Jess

The Book of Danvers!!!!

Jess

The Like Us series ending will be bittersweet. I am anxious as all get out to know more about what will be coming. I have been trying to collect spooky recs because that is what I love to read for October. I have The Haunting of Maddy Clare, Anatomy: A Love Story, and The Final Girl Support Group to read. YA spooky rec is Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake. I should do a reread.

🌶️ Mimi

I have been looking forward to fall since the beginning of summer and I actually will also be looking through these comments for recommendations! I don’t think I have any questions this time but I do want to say I STARTED MISFITS LIKE US TODAY!!! I’m on chapter 5 and I’m so in love already with Luna and Donnelly and even protective Lo (I was really looking forward to him in these books hehe). I am so excited for Long Way Down to come out as well! That it honestly my favorite book out of this whole series and I can’t wait to annotate it!! I also want to say a big THANK YOU for making the Pinterest boards they have helped me SO much with picturing characters but also just getting so much more immersed into these stories and I wish every author took the time do to it for their books!

Miranda

Soo good!

Mikayla Goertz

That makes a lot more sense bc i was like they’ve been mentioning all these characters and their love interests for a while so I was so confused about them ending the series but I guess I missed the part when they said the cobalt empire they meant for it to be a whole series of just them and not apart of the like us series which makes sense since there is no more bodyguard romances to be had. Thank you so much for clarifying! i was totally having a mental meltdown that this was the end of this world and it’s not thank god!

Sarah

Could we get a Rose POV of Maeve’s birth? I think it would be interesting because Beckett was nearly hurt because of Donnelly. Yet he helps Jane with Maeve. I want to hear what’s going on in her head.

Sioned

I feel like he’ll be one of the companion books they add to the series later down the line!

Teresa

Be careful they're are alot of spoilers from Misfits and unlucky like us here on patreon, I would not read any of the comments or posts or listen to the podcasts until you catch up.

🌶️ Mimi

I have been very careful when reading bonus scenes and listening to make sure I’m not spoiling anything for myself. I’m also generally a type of person that I can see things about future books I wanna read and still want to read them to see how everything unfolds. That’s actually how I got into the Addicted series so I’m definitely being careful but thank you for mentioning just in case!

Illyana

Hello Hello! And Happiest fall! OF COURSE i can give some romancey fall inspired recs :) I just got back to London, moved flat and enjoying the foliage of this... polluted london air XD In terms of recs, I finished the Stormlight Archive #4 and am now up to date (Amazing 10/10 would recommend) but I have been listening now via audible as well as paperback (I got the paperback versions as well because the HarperVoyager editions of this series are AMAZING AND PERFECT FOR THE SEASON! Probably some of the prettiest covers and all complimenting one another so my OCD brain feels a sense of happiness when i see them ahaha): The Realm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb. Now, the aesthetic is very much evermore meets folklore meets Merlin. Its veryyyyy cozy fantasy and perfect for the season but also the winter. Its a epic fantasy series that follows for the most part 2 soulmates, from their childhood all the way to their older years as they grow from friendship, partners to lovers. And I have to admit, the way it's written is almost euphoric. It's utterly lyrical. The big 5 writers of fantasy rn i have been told are: Brandon's, Robin Hobb's, GRRM (Although he's lost a lot of respect in the community because of his insane hiatus!), Steven Erickson's (Malazan series) and Joe Abercrombie. While Brandon is very much straight to the point, prioritises fights, magic system building and very cohesive ensamble casts. Robin Hobb on the other hand is a delicacy. And another defining feature is that her series does not involve a massive war at the epicentre of the fantasy plot, which ironically is rare in high fantasy now a days. She creates stakes in different ways. She creates a very tangible atmosphere, a world you can touch, smell, rely on. From castles with well lit fireplaces and mugs of ale on the table, through sailors watching the sea from the crow`s nest, to dragons gleaming like jewels in the sky... You get me. I am only on book 3 of the first trilogy, but not once did i feel there was a slog moment. Like I did sometimes while reading the Stormlight Archive or Outlander (those books in their defence, are longer individually). And you know how much I love trivia and the attention to detail you guys give when plugging all the detailing that just makes the Like Us novels come alive. She does the same thing. But the thing I envy her most (if envy is even the word) is creating Beloved (one of the protagonists). When I look at the other characters, it`s a bit like watching a glorious puppet show - I can see how the strings are moving and what the puppets are made of...But not so with the Fool/Beloved, he is an infinite mystery and creating a character like that is something I`ll never be able to get out of my head. His love story with Fitz (the other main character) is probably one of the greatest love stories of all time (DW Marrow your number 1 there too :P ). And I think also, Fool (also known as Beloved to a special someone ;) ) is a lgbtq+ individual, and their identity and how they chose to address it (and not address it!) plays a massive role in the series overall. I wouldn’t categorize this series as necessarily marketably LGBTQ+ as a genre by any stretch, because it isn’t the story’s main purported focus, but all that is to say, it’s LGBTQ+ themes are not merely inferred. That subject matter definitely plays a significant and blatant role in the story. I think Beloved is such a unique character because he was written all the way back in the 90s, and having a character so openly discuss gender identity and exist outside that binary then, was pretty ahead of it’s time in some ways. I love that it’s still as timely a discussion today as it was when it was published. It gives the impression that Beloved is a timeless character, and that these discussions are timeless discussions, which I find incredibly uplifting and affirming in a lot of ways. Ah! I am so sorry for that literal actual essay per usual... 😂But just like with the KBR universe i CANNOT hold back when I love a series and you guys know this about me by now, i think ^ . ^

Illyana

Also- to contextualise Realm of the Elderlings ('ROTE') in Xander's world, i would like to think this is his cup of tea. There are dragons, political intrigue, magic, witches, sentient ships!!!, immense high stakes, very very well done characters and beautiful friendships, love stories and tragedies, but like i said before those LARPed fight scenes he loves to do, are not really a priority or a main plot point in the series. Hence why I totally would think he would like Malazan or the Cosmere more. But then again, i am patiently waiting like for his POV novels (idc how long it takes i will wait forever if it means we might get some down the line ^ . ^), he might really love these character driven emotionally destroying novels lol. He would def sympathise with Fitz's trauma and maybe one day dream of having his own Beloved... <3

Illyana

And KRISTA! Congratulations to infinity and back for the lovely engagement announcement! I saw that on instagram and i grinned hopelessly! And in Alaska too! The Meadows are fist pumping in the air for you! xxxxx

Illyana

But what are YOU guys consuming this fall then? :D I just watched the latest Ahsoka episode, and while i was kinda bored the first have of this season this one with Anakin got me CRYING (not just for nostalgia, or because he's so f*ing hot, but how gripping it was! Just an elevated writing style! Uh-Amazing!). I am also finishing up the last season of Vikings (perfect for this weather!) and watching Real Housewives of Salt Lake City! Jen Shah is now in jail and the friendship dynamics are SHIFTING and its fascinating to see. Have you seen Raquel from Vanderpump Rules go on a Tour De France on Bethanny Frankel's podcast? What did you guys make of the last Vanderpump season? :O Oh and book wise aside from ROTE, i will be REREADING Loved and other Cursed Things because its become a yearly tradition now, and yes i would blood oath and swear a kidney off for a sequel.

alyssa ✨

Hi hi hi!!! I keep seeing people post about My Roommate Is A Vampire so I’m dyiiiiiiing to pick that up for a cozy Halloween-y fall romcom vibe. But I’m leaning more toward cozy fall games this year! I’m still savoring some time in the KBR universe after Unlucky 💜🥲

Illyana

Oh! I completely forgot to recommend like… my fav romtancey series of all time that literally fits the bill of ur request (how DUMB am I?!) Another amazing ongoing series (the writer is currently working on Book 5 after surviving ovarian cancer during covid! Honestly! She’s amazing 🥹) is the All Souls series by Deborah Harkness. This by the very title matches your request. I reread the series annually during the fall, but held off this year because I’m saving my reread for when the new novel drops I believe in early 2024😆. The aesthetic is very, dark academia, witchycore, magic, set in England, decadent, quiet luxury as well. Beautifully written. It follows the protagonist, a reluctant witch, who stumbles across in the Bodalian library at Oxford uni a novel (which is for real) that is quite magical and she realises it’s been the object of desire for a lot of magical races, like vampires. And income, our tall dark and handsome Doctor Mathew Phillip de Claremont. He and her have a fascinating tale that unfolds and is still ongoing as we speak! And another thing this series does brilliantly, is that it’s a romance between two middle aged individuals. It’s not young love or first love. They’re smart and emotional individuals (she is a professor of the history of science 🕯️ 📖 , and he is a surgeon and Professor of Genealogy 🧬 ) and they both have their trauma. So seeing this unpack and be written well (none of that dumb miscommunication plot haha) is a breath of fresh air! Gah, I think this series does It’s one of my favourite novels of all time, I love it so much I got the Juniper Editions 🥹. In terms of in universe context, tbh every time I read this I ALWAYS think of the Cobalt Empire. Mathew’s family is very cobalt-esque and Mathew and Diana definitely fit the bill of- “what does a romance between two Ravenclaws look like?” Which I loveeeee. I don’t say this often because I think he’s so unique, but I see a lot of Charlie’s potential, in Mathew, if he were less lost in himself (i believe in u Charlie xx). The family also speaks French half the time which probably explains my simile haha. It’s also formatted similarly where it’s not strictly 1 book per pairing, the whole family gets their share and gets revisited and everyone remains contemporary. And just like we have a main pairing we default to with “Lilo” or “Marrow”, of this series it remains Diana and Mathew, we always go back to them ☺️. And, if you don’t want to read the novels, and just want to watch the tv show which I believe is now on HBO, that’s also an option! But it goes by the first books name, “a discovery of witches” and only covers the plot of the first 3 novels. It’s filmed VERY well, But they departed A LOT from the source material and disappointed me a lot really as a book fan, as well with some of the casting. I think like all adaptions alot of the beauty in what makes it “witchy” and “cozy fantasy” gets lost in translation (side eye Wheel of Time). So a lot of the domestic romance moments (like their their first dinner date was discussing Mathew’s Oxford fellowship exam paper which honestly made the evening so seductive I was ENCHANTED) and quirky stuff (like how they are yogi obsessed 🧘‍♀️ !! Omg how could they cut that 😭) and all the late night Oxford Ravenclaw chats between our two lovers under candlelight and dark libraries were completely cut 😭. But Diana and Mathew are perfectly casted 🫶. So yeah! That’s my other rec! I think at this point I have reccomended my entire bookshelf in the lifetime of our friendship (with 1 exception but I’ll save that series Rec when you ask for it in another day’s prompt 🤭) lol!

🌶️ Mimi

I actually remember a question I had you guys said in a podcast episode that you intended for Beckett to be in a poly relationship like Sulli but are you still planning for that? I am starting to see Jo and Beckett as having tension or whatever but I’m now wondering if the poly thing was gonna actually happen or not

Teresa

I don't know if it was ever confirmed but are we getting a bonus scene from either Rose or Connor on the night Beckett was attacked by the Donnellys?

Shelby Keating

I’m waiting for October but last year I read Devil’s Night Series and decided I’d make it a October tradition to read it for halloween season.

Shelby Keating

Is People Like Us going to come out as a physical book or will it remain a collection of bonus scenes on patron? If it’ll be a book- do you have any idea on a timeline? Just curious.

Illyana

Oh and i completely forgot to ask! (wow this week i'm full of spam-ey pen pal vibes i deeply apologise hahaha my excitement gets the better of me ^ . ^): In terms of Like Us novels i finished rereading Misfits Like Us and now am reading Fuel the Fire. And it's got me thinking, if you guys have a specific perfume that you associate with the Like Us universe? Or is that too generic of a question and you have perfumes broken down for each couple? Or each sub series? (Like Us. vs. Addicted World) One from Jo Malone? A drugstore one? For example I just finished the Stormlight Archive and I always wore the Elizabeth Arden perfume "Beverly Hills: Giorgio" and it got onto the novels by chance and smelled like them. And now, i associate the perfume with the Cosmere and I love it! I am big on smells haha ^ . ^ So i want to know what perfume makes u think of Like Us/Addicted Universe? <3

Marie

i am in the biggest denial that the like us series will have a proper ending so soon (i know that soon is relative given the number of books already written for this series)... it feels like i started reading damaged like us yesterday!!

cass (ben’s version)

i managed to snag a signed copy of addicted after all!!! so happy so have everyone one so far signed ❤️❤️❤️

Krista & Becca Ritchie

We still 100% plan to write romances for the other Hales, Meadows, Cobalts that haven't had their HEAs yet! It just won't be a part of the Like Us series (partly since that series is so long). We want to kickstart a new entry point for readers 💖

Krista & Becca Ritchie

It's almost that time again to rewatch Halloweentown!! The fall feels are in the air!

Krista & Becca Ritchie

Thank you sooo much for picking it up!! We love hearing about everyone who started with LU first!

Krista & Becca Ritchie

We'll talk more about it soon, including the bit about possible "companion" novels. But this is *not* the end of the Hales, Cobalts, Meadows -- we're just coming to the end of the Like Us series, which is already very long, and we've planned to have a new entry point for readers when we change character POVs again. But more is in store for these famous families. So don't fret!! ☺️

Krista & Becca Ritchie

We still plan to write bonus content on Patreon! There are scenes that we've wanted to complete/write in the Like Us timeline (i.e. Jane x Thatcher wedding), and even more into the future, we could always add bonus scenes related to the new characters we're writing (i.e. the Cobalt brothers) ☺️

Krista & Becca Ritchie

Thank you so much, Cass!! *hugs tight* Hopefully a cover reveal for Dishonestly Yours will be happening soon!!! *GRINS*

Krista & Becca Ritchie

We're still in denial that the Like Us series is coming to a close. It doesn't feel real at all 😭 Can't believe we've been with these characters since 2017. We've been writing this series longer than we did the Addicted series, which is super strange to think about 😆

Krista & Becca Ritchie

We've heard great things about Kresley Cole's books! And oh I finally started reading ACOTAR!!! It took me forever 😆 I'm trying to get Krista to buddy-read with me!

Krista & Becca Ritchie

I'm thinking we might do a Like Us series update podcast as the Extra Podcast this month so we can chat all about the ongoings and future of things (now that we have a MUCH clearer picture of our schedule) ☺️ I've gotta pitch the topic to Krista though, so fingers crossed!! (Also you're the second person to mention The Haunting of Maddy Clare so now I really want to read it!) ~ B

Krista & Becca Ritchie

Ahh happy reading Misfits!!! I hope you enjoy the ride!! Also thank you so much for loving Long Way Down!! I can't even explain the burst of joy we get when someone says that's their fav! When we published it, it was one of the hardest release days for us, so I just want to scoop up my past-self and show her all the love now 🥹 And I'm so happy that you're enjoying the Pinterest Boards!! I'm hoping we'll be able to add more pins than we have in the past. I miss being on there! ~ B

Krista & Becca Ritchie

I've been wanting to get into Sanderson's universe! One of these days, I'm gonna take the plunge. Beloved sounds like such a unique, awesome character, and the romance you teased is making me want to start the books asap! Would you start with The Way of Kings?

Angelina (Charlies version) ♟️

Its so strange for it to be ending but on the bright side theres so much possibility now and im excited for whatever you guys do!!

Krista & Becca Ritchie

I just started Ashoka! I'm only one episode in, and I think my fav thing is the art/costume design in this one. I already like it a little more than Kenobi, but it will be extremely hard to top Andor (which is literally my fav Star Wars thing EVER). I'm also reading Sith Wars (comics) with Ulic and Exar Kun. Recently started ACOTAR (but it's going to take me a while to finish it since I'm a slow reader when it comes to fantasies or anything that's a little denser. I also don't like to skip lines, so I find myself rereading lines if something doesn't make sense to me or if I read it backwards). I'm trying to get Krista to buddy read it with me! I keep wondering if I should get back into Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Recently I've been on a Below Deck kick and finished Below Deck: Down Under (It's only on Peacock.) I haven't seen Raquel on Frankel's podcast! The last season was epic of Vanderpump. Definitely one of the best seasons. It also makes me want to watch the Special Forces show since Sandervol (prob not the right spelling?) is going to be on it, and it'll be funny to see how he handles it. Ahh a Love & Other Cursed Things reread!! 🥹🥹 With fall coming up, I miss that book and those characters so much. Might have to do some giveaways on IG for them!

Jess

That podcast would be EPIC

Krista & Becca Ritchie

That cover is SO CUTE!!! They only had one copy of it last time we went to the bookstore and it was bent in half. Krista almost bought the messed up copy. What fall games are you playing?? I just read a cozy witchy rom-com (Go Hex Yourself) so now I am craving all the angst 😂

Krista & Becca Ritchie

That reminds me that I need to rewatch A Discovery of Witches!! I watched season one, but I think it took awhile for the next two seasons to come out. I need to go back and start at the beginning and binge it all. I remember it being such a good show.

Krista & Becca Ritchie

We haven't confirmed anything just yet! He'll either just be with Jo or be with Jo and Leo (MMF romance).

Krista & Becca Ritchie

It's in our suggestion list, but we typically don't commit to any bonus scenes in advance because it's usually just what we're inspired to write in the moment, if that makes sense ☺️

Krista & Becca Ritchie

Once we're done with the bonus scenes we want to be in it, it'll be complied into a print edition. That's the plan! We have an idea of when we'd like it to be finished and for it to be available in paperback. It's on our calendar (but we haven't announced this date anywhere).

Krista & Becca Ritchie

I would think some sort of "light" perfume, as the series is airy and not too heavy and has a lot of joyous feelings. Something that isn't too powdery but more floral, so maybe like Daisy by Marc Jacobs, Chance by Chanel, or Her Eau de Parfum by Burberry. You know this question makes me think of "color" associations with books! Because I feel like I can easily associate colors to certain characters and books based on personalities and tone and mood, and it's kind of a similar concept with perfumes/smells!

Sioned

I SECOND THIS

Illyana

I LOVE LEO SM WITH BECKETT I JUST WANT TO PUT THAT OUT THERE. THEY HAVE SO MUCH GOODNESS AND POTENTIAL. MARROW STAR-QUALITY POTENTIAL <3

Arrow

Me too! Jo/Leo/Beckett is probably my biggest ship rn.

I agree so much I was kicking my feet squealing when it clicked in my head that Leo,Jo, and Beckett could be a thing I definitely am rooting for them instead of just Beckett and Jo!!

Robin Hobb’s Beloved is probably THE BEST character i think in fantasy i've ever read. I'm now reading book 1, The Ship of Magic, of the second trilogy called the Liveship Traders trilogy and it's just UGH it's like, the mona lisa of fantasy! If you want to get into this, the reading order is simple, it’s: http://www.robinhobb.com/images/rhinfographic.jpg Now In terms of starting with Sanderson, it’s a bit more complicated. the best (and tbh these three novels are amazing i can't shut up about them as well) is Mistborn. Technically, you can start any sanderson series (in the cosmere or outside like with his Cytoverse universe) and enjoy it to the fullest of scope. Technically we are only hitting the 1/3rd mark of the timeline Brandon has for the Cosmere, as he has said that till the end of it, it will endgame in about 27 years. Where it will all climax and unite at the end. So in the meantime, if you want those easter eggs etc and connections and pin drop moments its amazing to read it in this reading order. The two most important series to read if you just want to read bare minimum to enjoy the scope the Cosmere is Mistborn series and Stormlight, and maybe his secret project standalones (which have been such a gem). If you want to take it to the next tier, this is the reading order I specifically watched in this video: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJ7QqPcL/ 1. Mistborn: The Final Empire (1st Mistborn Era) 2. The Well of Ascension (1st Mistborn Era) 3. The Hero of Ages (1st Mistborn Era) 3.5 The Secret History (1st Mistborn Era) 4. The Way of Kings (Stormlight Archive #1) 5. Warbreaker (Standalone) 6. Words of radiance (Stormlight Archive #2) 6.5 Edgedancer (Novella) 8. Oathbringer (Stormlight Archive #3) 8.5 Dawnshard (Novella) 9. Rhythm of War (Stormlight Archive #4) 10. Elantris 11. The Emperors soul (arcanum unbounded) 12. The alloy of law (2nd Mistborn Era) 13. Shadows of self (2nd Mistborn Era) 16. Bands of mourning (2nd Mistborn Era) 17. The lost metal (Mistborn era 2) 18. Tress of the Emerald Sea (Secret Project Kickstarter #1) 19. Yumi and the Nightmare Painter (Secret Project Kickstarter #2) 20. XXX (Secret Project Kickstarter #4) Publishing Schedule for the next 5 years: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJ7Qx8sn/ 21. Stormlight Archive #5 (November 2024) 22. Mistborn #1 (3rd Mistborn Era) 23. Elantris #2 24. Mistborn #2 (3rd Mistborn Era) 25. Elantris #3 26. Mistborn #3 (3rd Mistborn Era) NOW I KNOW WHAT UR THINKING. This is overwhelming. And this is probably an insane endeavour. Trust me! When I say before reading Sanderson, in terms of fantasy all i read was like Harry Potter (or like romantasy, like acotar, which i love!) and like the Hunger Games. I am more of a classics girlie and love romance. Trust me when I say, it was a BREEZE reading his Cosmere. He re-explains, doesn't info dump and and just makes everything so accessible, you end up remember EVERYTHING in terms of magic and location so, on my life, its not complicated at all. The books just LOOK intimidating because they're 'long' but they're no where near as hard as LOTR made fantasy out to be, or GOT. That's why Brandon is the number one fantasy writer after all! And for the romance girlies, THERE IS ROMANCE IN EVERY NOVEL HE WRITES! And murder, and thriller and intrigue! But I was still kinda worried about missing out points and stuff back when i started in May, so what I did was read the audiobook and read the novel at the same time. Or when i was in the car or commuting, I would just listen and make progress. Which was amazing as well. The two audiobook narrators they work with are only 2 narrators for the Cosmere, and they are a couple and they ONLY work for Brandon now, and are the best fantasy narrators in the industry! It's such a treat! They could read a pharmacy receipt and it be so interesting. But i think with Brandon's novels, if you can afford to splurge on getting it on audible and hard cover, to get it absolutely specifically when it comes to the stormlight archive. The end paper arts are amazing. And as one of the main characters Shallan, is an artist, and there are drawings of the Roshar world which are genuinely such a joy to see in fantasy. Sketches of her art, as she sees the world as you read along the plot! And finally, my final tip into diving into the world, is to watch this amazing video on YT (i rewatch it all the time lol im a fan cuz i just LOVE the background music which i find very Rosharian hehe) which is a great introduction to the Cosmere, mainly stormlight archive. And it gives you a vibe of the world you're going into. Rewatch it maybe once or max twice for details (i had to watch it a few times because i was nervous i'd be too dumb lol but in hindsight i just think i'm such a scardy cat). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL4M7Yx0SSE&t=222s&pp=ygUWSW50cm9kdWN0aW9uIHRvIFJvc2hhcg%3D%3D And i invite to follow one of the most amazing artists for the community as well imo, who does Cosmere character profiles which are out of this world :'). I plan on purchasing some art once her store reopens :) https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cvsq0VqNtdN/?igshid=NzZhOTFlYzFmZQ== https://www.instagram.com/p/CxJuuWkMNCL/ https://www.instagram.com/p/Cwn5Z7Bvmck/ So yeah! That's 1 year of only consuming Cosmere content in between Like Us releases worth of wisdom i can finally pass onto a friend who is interested :'). As you read along it, please do update me and ask me any questions as well. Sharing guides has become our status quo in our friendship huh? AND I LOVE IT! 🤭🥹🤗🥳 Welcome to the Cosmere, fellow Radiants :D <3

Also fun personal head canon- i developed, Like the typical Cosmere fan, i reckon xander would go on a campaign to show all his loved ones, like every cosmere fan does, the intro to roshar to explain why the stormlight archive is so amazing and to give context as to how amazing it is. Maybe even convince Lo to check it out :P XD

Strange Horticulture is my go-to for some cozy, kind of spooky, puzzle game vibes! I also just started playing Little Misfortune and it is also puzzle-y but has kind of a dark story (also a dark sense of humor). 😅 But both are low stakes enough that I can light a candle, get in some comfy clothes, and feel some cozy October vibes (how many times can I say cozy in one response 😭)
