Welcome to the newest Fizz Hangout! Every Friday, you all can stop by the weekly Fizz Hangout post and ask questions (to us or to your fellow patrons), discuss recent bonus scenes and/or podcasts with each other, and catch up on all the goodies you might've missed!

HANGOUT QUESTION: we love seeing your response to questions about the Like Us series, and it helps facilitate some awesome discussions! Each week, there'll be a new "hangout question" that you can answer in the comments, if you wish!

What do you think about sprayed edges? Yay or nay? Do you seek out special editions? Are you a part of any special edition book box subscriptions?

Weekly Recap

Happy Friday, magical & heroic beauties!! Big news! We have even more books in Kindle Unlimited now! The Addicted Series has joined the Like Us Series into Kindle Unlimited. *tosses all the confetti* Becca said it best on Instagram, so I'm going to just leave this right here for you all...

We could say the soul of the Addicted series is Lily and Loren—their messy, toxic love story that grows into something eternal (perhaps it was already there, just buried). We could just as easily say it’s Rose and Connor, both challenging each other to be the best they can be—far beyond intellect. And then we could say it’s Ryke and Daisy, the two most selfless people who want everyone to be healthy & happy but find the greatest happiness in each other. But really, it’s all six of them. One of the reasons we love writing series is the ability to show growth and relationships over so much time—from friendships to brothers to sisters to found family. We love it all 🥹In the end, the Addicted series means something different to everyone who reads it. And we’ve had the absolute joy of hearing what it means to readers over the years. Now that the ebooks are free on KU, our hope is that these characters find more homes in more hearts. Thank you to everyone who’s taken a chance on these books. You’ve changed our lives by loving them, and we’re forever grateful ♥️

----

Back in Patreon world, we've been a bit quiet here this week. We have reasons! We are deep in our writing cave and it's been a struggle to come out to do much of anything else. But we shall be prepping podcasts and working on some more Patreon stuff next week before the holidays. We hope everyone who celebrates has an awesome Thanksgiving! We're big into cooking, so it's one of our fav holidays just for the fact that we get to flex some of our recipes on our family members 😂

What has been our favorite part of writing Nobody Like Us so far? Definitely all the Luna and Donnelly moments! It feels very different than the first two books (in a good way!) It's fun to be able to progress their relationship but there is also SO. MUCH. TENSION. We're obsessed!

I love sprayed edges! I’ve been trying to teach myself how to create them for my own, and it’s been quite the trial and error! But I think they add SUCH a cool touch to books!

Sarah

I am not a fan of sprayed edges. I can’t stand it when it bleeds onto the page or if it chips at all, so I’d rather just avoid it all together. However, I wouldn’t hesitate to get multiple different editions of my favorite books, so I enjoy special editions.

Andrea

I loveeee sprayed edges. I try to get special editions when they’re in my price range and I’m a fan of the book or author 😊 currently not subscribed to any boxes though

Mary

I rarely buy physical books, normally just on my kindle. The addicted series and the like us series are two that I actually want to buy physical copies! I'm kinda waiting so I can get a book set with all the new covers

Haley Secen

I did galaxy edges for the Lunnelly hardcovers so they matched the colors of the artwork so whatever colors we pick for the NLU hardback will have to look pretty as all together as a galaxy lol 🙈

Arrow

Honestly, I had to look up “sprayed edges” because I wasn’t sure what this was referring to. So I guess I don’t? I generally prefer books with art on the cover because I don’t like how models on book covers mess with how I envision characters in my head. So it’s more about What’s on the cover than whether or not it’s a special edition. With that said, there are some model covers I just love because they looks so pretty. I really loved the model cover for “Love and Other Cursed Things” so I bought that one. I also love the Pinterest boards, though so my preference for art isn’t always logical. I think it’s also that art covers are just newer in the genre and look way cooler than the old headless torso covers too.

cass (ben’s version)

i think sprayed edges are gorgeous!!! i saw the new ones for a few of penelope douglas’s books and i thought they were so pretty.

cass (ben’s version)

i finally got my best friend to read the addicted series!!! it’s been 3 years of trying, and she’s finally giving it a shot. she’s loving it so far, and i am literally having SO much fun watching her reactions. she’s a very visual person so i’ve made her pinterest boards for each character (+ ones for the core 6 and calloway sisters in general), pinterest boards book by book (that she gets to unlock as she goes), boards for things like POP and WAC when she gets there, and boards of the couples that she also gets to unlock when she gets to their books lol. i also have a note where book by book, i have moments im excited for her to see listed. i don’t think i’ve ever been so happy!!! this series is literally my favorite thing ever and im so glad to share it with her 🫶🫶

Rachel

I can't believe you put all the books on KU 😭 I found DLU in July and binged the whole series then went back and read Addicted & I bought all the books on Kindle in August hahahaha but it's ok I'm happy to support you guys! I love these characters. I just bought Bad Reputation on Kindle last week & I loved those books so much!

Holly Grace

OFC you guys put it on KU year after i’ve bought the entire season and special editions but nonetheless still so excited for all the new people who will stumble upon my babies and become addicted😉 i guess that means it’s time for a reread! i will always buy a special or new edition of a book because there is no way i would be able to live without reading the extra content always added :)

Morgan

I like the appearance of sprayed edges and have purchased multiple special edition books because they look pretty even when I really shouldn't have because it was outside of my budget. I've only opened two of the special edition books with sprayed edges, and I noticed with one of them the pages were sticking together, so I had to be really careful when opening it. I'm not a part of any book subscription, but I do get pulled into supporting Kickstater campaigns with limited edition books. I'm not sure if I go out of my way to seek special edition books as they can get really expensive and will usually have really pretty illustrations/covers (which is what catches my eye the most, unless it has added content), but if I purchase a physical copy it is usually due to liking the book or book cover a lot, it's signed, or it's unique/a special edition/has pretty artwork/added content.

Caro

I live outside of the US so any type of special edition is going to be really expensive for me to get hold of. Sprayed edges look cool but to me they seem susceptible to imperfections or will get damaged easily

Lauren Gibbs

Happy Friday!! ✨️💓 I'm kinda on the fence about sprayed edges because sometimes it can look good but some colors don't work well or don't hold up very well... I am part of the cursed population of people that like deckled edges so I can't really say I'm against book fads! 🤣🙈

Jadyn

i love special editions and sprayed edges!! i think they’re so fun and i love collecting them! if y’all are asking because you’re thinking about doing that with the addicted series i would 100% be on board with that!!🫶🏻🫶🏻

Dani P

I don't really care either way about sprayed edges since when I buy physical books it mostly ends up just looking pretty spine out on a bookshelf. That being said, I'll def buy special edition of books if the new covers look pretty. Also, the odds of me buying special editions goes way up when there's exclusive bonus content.

Jess

I like sprayed edges and SE books. I don't always have the cash flow to purchase what I wish to. My finances play into me currently not having any subscriptions to book boxes. I have tried a few in the past.

Angelina (Charlies version) ♟️

I am an absolute fiend for a special edition!!! I love sprayed edges and special editions its honestly becoming a problem because im running out of space to display them 🤣

Teresa

How would you ladies describe the Donnelly eye color blue and the cobalt eye color blue (by describe I mean what color/shade blue)

Sioned

Hundred percent YAY! not for classics though. I like them to feel more ‘earthy’ when they’re classics. I’m a massive fan of your special editions but I’ve yet to really find any other special editions that I love more than the original covers, plus they tend to be a lot more and it’s not always affordable :)

Sarah

Loved sprayed edges and I love Coffee and a Classic for book boxes. I personally have bought the signed, special, ebook, and audible of the same book. I know. I have a problem but if the book is good enough then I say go for it.

❥ Cait (The Carraway’s #1 fan)

I haven’t been fortunate enough to get a special edition of a book that I love !! I would definitely consider it in the future :) I was wondering, which of the Cobalt boys would be most likely to get a septum piercing like Donnelly ?? 🩷🩷

shi luvs st.cobalt

I’m a fan of sprayed edges! I think they add a fun pop to the book! :) I also **love** special editions! I used to be subscribed to Fairyloot - but I had to unsubscribe once I ran out of space to store all of the items that I was receiving each month (🙈).

Teresa

What singers voice would you describe Tom's singing voice being closest to?

Bella Stanley

I know I’m on the unpopular side of this question but I dislike how unavailable special editions become. I don’t mind the Walmart, target, and B&N ones as much, but those are still very limited to the U.S. and countries who have availability to those stores. So the extra content in them I just wish maybe once the special edition of the books are out of print that those extras could still be available to those who didn’t get to buy that limited version. I love-hate sprayed edges because I’ve had some in the past that rubbed off easily on my hands while I was reading. They’re pretty, but personally I prefer a nice cover or spine (especially spine because that’s more likely how I’ll see books on my shelves). I know you can show the sprayed edges, but I don’t know. . .I do like spray edges over store based special editions because they are nice to collect, but they don’t make me feel like I’d be missing out if I didn’t have it either. For the special edition in book boxes it can be a little sad for me because there’s some I would love to own, but I am only finding out about it after it’s all said and done and I didn’t get a chance to get it nor is there usually ever a chance in the future. So I wish they could be offered more long term - I know that’d be hard for book boxes - but it’s also why I have grown to tell myself to dislike the majority of special editions because I don’t get the opportunity to own them either because they are expensive, I missed the preorder, or truly I prefer the original cover. They just feel too exclusive to only current fans or readers at the time although there are plenty of new readers discovering those same books everyday.

Krista & Becca Ritchie

Ah this is amazing!!! So happy your friend is finally taking a chance on it! We hope she enjoys the ride!!!

Krista & Becca Ritchie

Omg I also LOVE deckled edges on a book!! Krista hates them though, but I think they are so cool!!

Krista & Becca Ritchie

The shade is mostly up for interpretation, but for Donnelly, Luna describes them as "blue spinel gems" so we see his being a bit more deep blue than light blue.

Krista & Becca Ritchie

We'll think more about this one. Because while we usually say the Caraways are like My Chemical Romance, we don't believe Tom would actually sound like Gerard Way.

Krista & Becca Ritchie

That is super true about missing out on the opportunity to have some exclusive editions. They go FAST and you have to really know about it early. It would be cool if some of they were offered seasonally for readers who miss out, but we imagine printing costs might be a factor.
