Welcome to the newest Fizz Hangout! Every Friday, you all can stop by the weekly Fizz Hangout post and ask questions (to us or to your fellow patrons), discuss recent bonus scenes and/or podcasts with each other, and catch up on all the goodies you might've missed!

HANGOUT QUESTION: we love seeing your response to questions about the Like Us series, and it helps facilitate some awesome discussions! Each week, there'll be a new "hangout question" that you can answer in the comments, if you wish!

Do you have any reading goals for 2024? Are you the kind of reader that likes to set a book number target to hit for the year? Fun Fact: We used to COMPETE for who could read the most in a year. Alas, this competition drifted to the wayside after college. But it would be kinda fun to start it up again *looks to Becca 😁*

Weekly Recap

Happy Friday, magical & heroic beauties!! This is the very first hangout of 2024, and we're feeling alive and fresh in this new year. There are so many great things happening and since Nobody Like Us is kicking off the year for us, it feels extra special. If this is your first time here on Patreon during a release month, we do things a tiny bit differently during this time.

Most (sometimes ALL) of the promised content will be dropping towards the tail-end of the month. That means you can expect the podcasts and bonus scenes to most likely be posted after January 26th. Leading up to the 26th, we'll still be doing Teaser Tuesdays and you'll get a first look at the cover and blurb before anyone else. AND a first look of chapter one! We have a pre-release party (date TBD) over at the Fizzle Force Facebook Group that we highly recommend stopping by for. There will be giveaways and lots of fun posts! If you don't have a Facebook or can't make the party, have no fear! We will be cross posting all of the teasers onto Patreon.

Outside of Patreon, we are finishing up editing Nobody Like Us (we edit until the last possible moment!) and we've also jumped back into the sequel of Dishonestly Yours where we last left off. So speaking of Dishonestly Yours...

I never really keep track of how many books I read in a year but now that I'm back to reading a lot I want to try. But I don't want to set a goal because I feel like if I don't reach it I'd be like setting myself up for disappointment. I do also really really want to start reading the Like Us series this year. And of course Dishonesty Yours when it comes out!!

Praying to anything to the NetGalley gods for an ARC, but if not it’ll be just as fun to read on release day 💖 I do put Goodreads reading goal but I don’t care too much if I meet it since I can adjust it, I do want to read more of the physical books that are already on my shelves though!

I like to set reading goals! University can be so busy sometimes but having a reading goal means I’ll actually make time to read 😇 I’m so so so excited for NLU this month, and all the bonus content! 🥳 Other than NLU, Dishonestly Yours is my most anticipated read of the year! I’m planning on gifting copies of it to some of my friends so we can all read it together and they can finally understand why I love your books so much🍓🕷️

It’s that bonus scene here on Patreon in Moffy’s POV where he discovers that Ben got into a fight with that guy who asked Audrey out despite the fact that she was way too young for him (Lance something?), and Eliot is mad that Ben didn’t tell anyone after the fact or ask for help or anything. I can’t remember what the title of the bonus scene is though, sorry 🙈

My goal is always : “keep yourself entertained between KB releases so you don’t lose all sense of time waiting between new books” 😂 I just try to keep of what I’m reading! I’m a bit of a data nerd so I like to keep track of how many, average rating, genres, new authors, formats tropes … it’s a whole thing. So I guess my goal is to keep up with the spreadsheet 😂 I miss a month (or 2…or 3…) and I’m stuck back-logging for an afternoon

i’m a big big reader—like, reading journal, spreadsheet, updating storygraph everyday lol so if i don’t set a goal or do reading challenges i’d go crazy. i did up my goal to 100 this year, and i’m already two books in! i’m currently trying to decide if i have the time for a like us series reread before nlu…but the number of new releases coming in january have me thinking i’ll just reread lunnelly and do a deep dive on patreon bonuses 🫶🏼 and peep me sprinting to netgalley for that arc!!! that’s so exciting!! it does have me thinking, would y’all release the first chapter of dishonesty yours on patreon like you do for like us, or is it different because it’s a trad published book?

I set a goal but recently I have been in a book slump and realized I was stressing over something that brings me joy. I have adjusted my thinking and my goal. I set it at 100. I am beyond excited for everything NLU. I purchased the ULU audiobook to listen to prior to the 26th. I preorded Dishonestly Yours. I did request it on Netgalley but feel like Berkeley has me on auto decline because I never get approved by them.

I set a reading goal on Goodreads each year, but I always keep the goal number the same (😅). I like to ensure that I read a certain number of books each year, but I don’t want to make reading feel like too much of a chore, so I keep my goal within a range that I know that I can complete without stressing too much about it! :) ——— I am *so excited* for Dishonestly Yours (🥹)! I don’t like to set reading goals. Reading is fun and a hobby I don’t want to obsess if I’m behind on my goal or not. I read what I want when I want. Even if I’ve read it 10 times. Life is too short to not do what you enjoy. But I do refuse to break my kindle streak. I kind of obsess over that 🫣

I’ve never set them because the best app for keeping track (Goodreads) kept giving me a hard time. I thought about it last year, but the Addictedverse series just destroyed me (in a good way). I read all the time, but spent the vast majority of last year just re-reading the Addictedverse books (which I started in October 2022). I think I’ll set a reading goal in 2024 though (modest - 24) just so that I have something to look forward to after I know what is going to be a massive NLU hangover.

Hey girls! I am literally a week late lol and am already falling behind my new years resolution of weekly chats here on Fizz! Oh dear. Forgive me haha. My reading goals have changed over the years depending on my age. When i was younger and a teen i was more competitive so i would put 100-200 books as a goal per year (aries competitive with myself what can i say). but this year its 1 lol. I have already read 4 books lol but i guess i'm on the market for low hanging fruit wins hahaha. My most anticipated read(s) of the year is Stormlight Five and Lunalley Book 3 of course! I am kinda bitter sweat my favourite KBR era is ending though :') But at least we still have bonus chapters and People Like Us! And who knows! Maybe as the Cobalt empire continues and you guys are feeling up a "as all this is happening here, in the Hale house this is what's keeping up" and have us all catch up with what's happening in Like Us Era Timeline in the meantime! Who knows! What are your guys' most anticipated reads of the year? :D Thank you SO much for your opinions on the TV btw! I have a small sony tv and i completely agree on how the User Interface is very lovely so I def will try and opt for the QLED version for Sony! Do you guys have a reccomened size? I have a lot of space for a big one but idk... I'm still undecided on that front! In terms of watches...The Salt Lake City season has been wild! And the newest addition Monica, while I think she makes great tv i would never be able to befriend her i don't think... Other things i've been watching is currently all the headlines here in the UK are about a insane Post office scandal which is considered the most wide spread miscarriage of justice in UK's history! And a great dramatised/journalist show that has been spearheading this justice for them is this show i just finished called Mr. Bates vs. The Post Office, i am not kidding it is so moving! I also watched Top Gun Maverick for the first time! And my GOODNESS I loved it! I really wanna know what Moffy and Farrow thought, GIVEN Farrow and him share the same name! I think Pilots are so fascinating. Such a feel good movie. And finally i have been watching this adult anamiation on Netflix called the Blue Eye Samarai and it is AMAZING! It's got this amazing blend of fantasy and historical realism from the East Asian dynasties. It's absolutely NOT for children bc of the gore and nudity/sex, but i think it's such an empowering movie and i can't shut up about it! Especially bc it celebrates East asian culture and ways of life. I would LOVE to know who in the KBR universe would love it. Maybe Kitsuletti? and Luna/Xander? IDK! What have you guys been watching? And finally on the comics front, I have really been enjoying Star Wars Comics! You guys were SO RIGHT, they are so good! And as i read them, I actually have been reading a lot of Brubaker's Captain America run! Like yourselves, I am not a fan of only action/no magic comics but i am LOVING the love story between Cap and Sharon. The writer here, was the same one that sold us the decade long romance with Scemma! And speaking of... Tony and Emma are still a thing guys... Like the previews for next week's comic are getting SPICY?! The TLDR is that Tony is really starting to become infatuated by her bc how can you not, and Emma is helping him out doing idk what in his run. In the meantime Krakoa is going up in flames (writing wise, creatively, figuratively and literally lol) its kinda a shit show. One of the delulu editors went on record last week saying that the Female mutant of the year is once again... Jean Grey... and he couldn't actually explain WHY just that she was. Meanwhile all she's done is be a background character, physically slap and abuse Cyclops, and then become a zombie/dead for most of the year. that just shows the absolute disconnect with reality these writers have with not only their fanbase... but also their own literal work??? And cyclops still has the personality of a doornob and isn't important at all except when he barks up a implied "I'm always right!" which is awk and kinda sad. ANYWAY, SLAY for Emma cuz she's Queen and idk i'm starting to slightly have feels for her and Tony... i just wished he took out his iconic porn stash. its kinda ick. I will def tune in tomorrow for today's weekly hangout blog post, as so i stay consistent, so see you in a wee bit! xoxoxo hugs and kisses! From a very cold and windy london x

We know that Netgalley is specifically for US readers. We're not sure how many ARCs they're giving out, but we have heard that a couple UK/International readers have had luck contacting penguin uk for an ARC. However, our UK rights have actually been sold to Pan Macmillan -- so if penguin uk doesn't work, you might have some luck contacting Pan Macmillan for an ARC. But we have no direct emails or contact info, unfortunately, so you'd just have to look at their websites to see if they have forms or contact info there. Sorry we couldn't be more helpful! It's all a mystery to us too.

Krista here! My most anticipated read is definitely Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez. I've basically adored every book I've read from her, so I can't wait for a new one. I know Becca is looking forward to Bride by Ali Hazelwood. I'm also super pumped for KA Linde's The Wren in the Holly Library. I have a soft spot for indie's going trad and also indie contemp romance authors writing fantasy, so it's like two epic unions in one. Size of TV really depends on your space and where you're putting it. We have one TV on our mantel over the fireplace. We could go bigger but it'd be worse since we already have to "look up" to see it. I definitely recommend if it's at eyelevel to get as big as you can. We honestly could have gone a bit bigger for our main TV, and I wish we did. There's probably some guide out there for how big a TV should be for how far away your couch is and wall space that would have accurate recs. We'll definitely have to check out Blue Eye Samarai! I actually watch more adult animation than Becca, so it might be more up my alley. Becca's been catching up and binging 911: Lone Star. Which is perfect for me because she just lets me know all the best episodes, so I can skip around :D I've been *trying* my best to make it through Season 2 of Loki. I'm just not vibing with it the way I was Season 1 but I do want to finish it. Tony and Emma! I'm still in shock over that pairing. I'm kind of behind on X-Men comics because I've heard some of the lines get less than stellar, and I'm not looking forward to it. I want to get back into them though. You might have convinced me to give it a go, if you're starting to board the Tony/Emma ship train! And I'm not shocked that Jean Grey is once again the Female mutant of the year. She's ALWAYS hyped and I still cannot fathom why. It must be the OG X-Men comics stans that were live-reading the Phoenix storyline. I get that was probably epic, but that's in the past and she's not that much of a dynamic character in the modern era. OMG porn stash 😂 I will also let Becca know you've been enjoying the Stars Wars comics! She's the Star Wars girlie out of the two of us. All the Star Wars references in the Lunnelly books are thanks to her. ✨💫
