I think Magik is still the best option if we don't want to make it Wiccan yet ..y'know, the literal Demiurge with the power of creation at his fingertips? I love Storm as much as you love Gambit, but you're right, she has a LOT on her plate right now. Remy...I dunno, it's like if a master thief got elected to being Archmage. Rictor makes more sense since he's actually been practicing magic over in Krakoan Excalibur.

I personally think a year of Gambit as Sorcerer Supreme would do well for a transitional character in the role. 12 issues if a conman with a little skill and some powerful connections skating by would give space for the next long term status quo to have a clean start. My only concern is that it would be compared to DC’s Constantine.
