What am off ramp these last few eps have been. From Omega Red, to laura, top Legion, to Leech, to now Gambit and Dani Moonstar - it is as if the series is personally a[pologizing to me for ending so soon. And, honestly, I appreciate it.

These two episodes exemplify just how fun and inventive this series can be at its best. They don't quite line up with the comics but they're fun, well-crafted, and you can see the comics that did inspire them clear as day. I'm going to miss these kinds of eps most of all.

Also, I tried recording this on my phone instead of my usual camera. Let me know which yall prefer (if either) lmao.

Not that I'm complaining, at all, these are the highlights of my week but was this supposed to go live now?

I don't find the gambit episode creepy personally. He wasn't interested in her romantically at the start or even really at the end I think. Also I think Gambit in this show feels around Scott age ish? This was my first real exposure to Dani, the 90s show didn't do much with any of the new Mutants that I remember, and it did not prepare me for her comics.

Ghost of a Chance, HELL yeah! This is an episode, the ONLY episode in fact, I went ahead and bought on YT, years before Disney+ started streaming the series or even had the rights to do so. It's so unlike anything in animation at the time, though creepy atmospheric kid friendly horror is kind of a trope itself nowadays (albeit one of my faves). It took Dani from a creepy but kinda cool concept in my mind to my favorite New Mutant that I HAD to learn more about IMMEDIATELY. I know your focus is probably gonna be on Romy and that's cool, it's ya brand. But for me, the star of this duology is Danielle Moonstar.

I think Danny just projected herself into kittys mind and they both just did what they thought would happen. Like kitty thought that chuck would throw a hard traing session at Danny and Danny being given that thought she would turn it into a nightmare and kitty thought people would not take that well. Subconscious "Yes and " going on to the extreme

I remember way back I think in the Season 2 premiere you brought up Dani Moonstar and I knew eventually when you got to this episode it'd be very validating. I've always really liked this episode and it helps that it looks really good. They got really comfortable with this artstyle especially facial expressions and hair; case in point the scene where Jean is explaining the exercise to the kids with the rain and wind whipping her hair around. Just so good

Nikhil we all love you so much for these reviews!!! also I am firmly in the its creepy camp for the gambit episode, mainly because of the knockout. but then again both these episodes are in my bottom 10 for the show and I feel bad because they're the episodes right before the finally.

Nikhil you should play Dispatch on stream

With dani i think her powers were just bugging out and i dont think she was consciousnessly aware of what she was doing considering she thought kitty was a dream and seems like she wasnt even aware she was trapped.

Black Marvel

I still feel like its creepy cause Rogue is still in high school.

"i bet it makes the fanfiction go wild!" cut to roy, immediately, on his laptop. dude was absolutely 12k words into his cannonball x iceman fic; "snowstorm in kentucky". that's why he was so desperate to charge his battery that way.

I think Gambit was also high school age unti lthis season. I think he is the same age as Scott. Just like, a ful ltime criminal.

I suddenly find myself curious what the writers' thought process was behind not having Dani be part of the original X-Kids group, only to introduce her when the series was almost over. I guess her powers aren't as flashy or easy to convey onscreen like a lot of the other X-kids, which that whole episode kind of showed. But it still would have been nice to see her as part of the original group way back in season 2.

CHUCK: That's right Logan. The initial interaction that Kitty had with Danny was...an optical illusion. WOLVIE:Like a Mirage? Q-BALL:Precisely.
