Getting ready for mould making. Stagea build update. (Patreon)

So I've been working hard the past few weeks trying to get these rear overfenders all finished up and ready to make moulds before the plastic 3D prints warp any more. We'll start off with a quick recap of the last video. First up was to replace the sideskirt extensions. The originals were really badly warped and since I had some filament left over it was quicker for me to print new ones now that I had my settings dialed in.Then just little more block sanding to get the rear ready for the first pass of primer.
The first layer of primer was really just intended as an indicator for me to see if I was happy with the body lines, see if there were any high or low spots that I missed, and just check the overall smoothness of the curves.
With the sideskirt however I loaded it on pretty heavy to fill the remaining layer lines from the print. It ended up working pretty well so it's nice to see that you can get smooth finishes straight from PLA sanded with 120 grit.
I did a fair bit of extra block sanding on the fender as after priming it I did see that some of the transitions weren't as smooth as I'd liked, but after a few more layers of filler and sanding I was happy with it and gave it the main primer application, this time with 2 - 3 thick coats instead of just the 1 from the previous layer.
You'll also see that before this final layer of primer I added the bolt holes.
After spraying this main layer of primer the surface was block sanded one final time with 240 grit and as this was the final sanding step, this was where I rounded over any sharp corners.
For the final layer I sprayed the plugs with a sealer specifically designed for tooling / mould making.
Then it was just a lot more sanding from 240grit all the way to 1500 and before finally polishing to get these things nice and glossy, ready for mould making.
After this we move on to the actual mould making which will be in the video I hope to have up here in a couple days. I've still got a batch of photos I need to go through and edit before I can post those but I'll have them up soon after the video.
