Deadwater Blacksmithing

I wish you sold some sort of vents that I could graft to my nb2 miata hood.

Tofu Auto Works

The NB miata is really underloved compared to the NA. You've got a good point, I might have to look into making some stuff for it in the future if there's ever time.

Deadwater Blacksmithing

I doubt time will show itself my dude. If you ever end up with an NB project for the channel, then it would make sense, but at this point just do you and keep making the sickest shit on youtube

I talked to you on IG a while back about trying to do it myself. It did not go as planned. But the big turbo setup is on and I built a full turbo back 3" exhaust all pie cut and pretty. It wasnt happy about boost and popped a head gasket but I was working it back down to a reasonable level before it started snowing. Just waiting for temps to get above freezing here so I can get it back out for some road tuning.

What I always try and do with my builds is take a really good but under appreciated platform and make it look badass. An NB honestly sounds perfect for that but I have already put so much time into Miatas I kinda want to give some other platforms a chance.

Joel Smith

You inspired me to start doing the same with my mk5 gti. Really want it to be awd some day

Tofu Auto Works

That's awesome to hear dude! I remember working with my mate on his mk5 way back, it was a lot nicer than most of the stuff I've worked on since haha

Color matched would be alot more classy though maybe the carbon would fit the vibe of the build more, im not 100% on it tbh

I can’t imagine something better than little pieces of fine carbo fibaa to break up this long hood. Perhaps you can fade the color to cabonfiber softly in.

Tofu Auto Works

It is a large panel, breaking it up slightly might be the best idea.

Tofu Auto Works

It would help them not stand out as much as the only carbon piece if I painted them, but then the rest of the build is pretty over the top so the carbon would go with it too.

Floris V

Yeah i agree, it just depensa on what you're going with in terms of looks at the end of the day but i think the whole car being the same color coild make it seems more natural almost as if its a real model from nissan

Tofu Auto Works

That was my original thought process. But the real models from Nissan all come with exposed carbon on the vents haha.

Floris V

Oh wait thats a really good point, might have to change my vote now😂

Tofu Auto Works

Haha, yeah I genuinely thought this whole time for the past 2 years building this that Nissan colour matched them at the factory, but nah they're all carbon.

Tofu Auto Works

Ok so I'll have to call the vote there. Pretty close but carbon did win. I feel like I was sort of leaning that way but was willing to go with painted if you guys voted in favor. I'll leave these carbon for now but I'll see if I can keep some of the paint after the rest of the panels are done and it's all reassembled and if I want to paint it after seeing it then I still can. Time to unsand that clearcoat.
