Welcome Megan to the wacky and wonderful world of the young ones, the show that kicked off the alternative comedy in the early 80's. If you thought episode one was wacky enough, the rest of the two series are even more so. It's always fun watching someone watch for the first time. I hope you are having a great start to 2025.

Did you recognise Rik Mayall from Blackadder (Lord Flashheart a couple of times)

This was way ahead of it’s time in the 80’s, and very controversial. A lot LibTard groups tried to get it banned but of course only made it more popular. Cliff Richard was an ongoing joke in the series, but funny enough he actually did a charity record with them and it got to number 1 in the UK charts, I am sure it is on youtube if you fancy a watch. Rik Mayall was the star for me, and he went on to make other great shows like “The New Statesman” Where he plays a corrupt Tory MP, which did Margaret Thatcher and the conservative party no favours at all. I don’t think this is a spoiler, but my favourite episode is when their University pick them to go on University Challenge. Great reaction Megan. Happy 2025

Oh wow! I look forward to seeing what's to come then! 😆 I am thank you. I hope you are, too 😊

MeganRuth

No I didn't!! He looks much different here than he does in Blackadder to be fair 😅

MeganRuth

Thanks for the suggestion! Yeah Rik Mayall is hilarious 😂 Thanks William! Happy 2025 😊

Megan if you look carefully in a couple of the upcoming episodes you can see a young Hagrid, I won't say which episodes through, it will be fun for you to try spot him :)

Ade Edmonson (the punk Viv) was also in Blackadder, as the German pilot in the same episode as lord Flashheart, but I don’t think he had as much of an impact on you as Lord Flashheart

oooh thanks for the heads up! :)

This was just the pilot and the rest of the show does get better, ...sort of.
