Such a masterpiece of a series... thank you SO much for making us watch this 🫶 Coming to to the end is bittersweet but we are hoping for a continuation someday! We appreciate you all for watching with us and we will never stop gushing about Vinland Saga. Another successful anime run!

This episode (along with many others) has had such a huge impact on my personal life. Legitimately I credit this episode directly for giving me one of the most valuable things I own… closure with my own mother. After watching it in 2023 this episode motivated me to finally apologize to my mother about the thing I regret most, which was joining the Army behind her back. In 2008 I was off at college in my second semester. I was doing horrible and needed a change but there were no jobs. I was a burden and decided to join the Army to change that but knew my Mom wouldn’t approve. I signed up and went home, telling her I leave for basic training in two weeks. I’ve been out of the Army for 12 years now but hadn’t spoken to her about how I joined yet. I flew home to visit her in August 2023 and finally apologized. We cried and hugged in her front yard and then I left to go home. That was the last time I ever saw her because she and one other were killed by a coworker who brought a gun to their work place in October 2023. I credit this episode for motivating me to gain closure with her and because of that I have no remaining regrets. It’s provided me with a sense of peace that I value so greatly because I know it would eat away at me had I not been able to have that moment with her.

Thank you for reacting to this series! It really is one of the best stories out there, and I truly hope it'll be picked up to finish the story. I've currently caught up to book 14 of the manga, we have plenty of story left to tell. But for now it's done, so here's a couple of facts mentioned in the last couple of episodes! Hnefatafl - "The King's Board", a popular board game in Scandinavia at that time, one player plays a defending king's army, the other the besieging army. Pieces of it was found in graves at Birk, and it's both been depicted on runestones and in Sagas, however the rules of the game wasn't known until Carl Von Linné collected stories and game rules from the Sami people (indigenous people of northern Scandinavia and Russia) in the 1700s, who had a game using the same board and pieces. I love Thorfinn's suggestion, because it's such a normal thing for a common person to suggest. It's all a game to the leaders, they're the ones with beef, why not play a game over it? Gothi - We may have mentioned it before? But it's a priest-like position of the old pagan faiths in Iceland, but became more of a political "mayor" of town afaik.

Holy cow dude, thank you for sharing your story. I don't think some people were born to be tough, I dont think anyone truly ever is, but some people experience a level of hardship that its hard to imagine. Im glad for you, that you found closure with your mother. All the love.

The ending with the visual of young Askeladd putting a flower on a grave and then putting on his armor was his decision to become the hero Artourius. Then the cut over to Thorfinn walking out to save everyone from war and slavery as if the hero Artourius is on his way. Love this series, it’s so underrated.

my two cents on these last shots is that we see each of these characters as they’re about to embark on their biggest, most meaningful adventure yet (Leif = journey to Vinland, Askeladd = search for Artorius, Thorfinn = journey to Vinland). Love this series and loved your reactions
