You guys are correct, Raye didn't directly touch the pages so he was unable to see Ryuk.

Different time! When this came out, the dialog with Raye's fiancé and himself was normalized back then. its not modern. Things back then were more crude. Feels weird how they communicated to me too. I strongly dislike how Raye spoke but we gotta remember things were different back then.

DevilWearsAdidas

Well, consider the deathnote from the point of view as the Shinigami; why would they want to manipulate people to do certain things if all it does for them is extend their lives? Doesn't seem like it matters much at all. They only have the deathnotes for survival and that's it.

Mr. Toastman

Even at the time, this would have been a rather demeaning comment. I think it's much more likely that the author assumed American attitudes towards women in the workplace were as misogynistic as Japan's was (and currently is, in a way, lmao)

Mr. Toastman

Was going to comment the same thing. A shinigami would feel no need to use the death note in such a way because they don't need that level of creativity to bring about any sort of illicit plot, lmao. Writing the cause of death first, and then writing a name afterwards would be pointless to them, I guess. Especially since all of them seem incredibly lazy and incurious.

God, I forgot how good this show is. So much tension!

dude it's just such a great show! I can't wait for it to progress for y'all. L vs Light is insane

Lmao the “Hm.” after Raye said that weird stuff to his fiancé😭

Pod Rider

I still think the English dub is better emoted than the Japanese VA

I love how dumb this show makes me feel 😂 I’d be a terrible evil genius, but their deductions are pretty damn good

Manny

I think the death notes are supposed to be straightforward in a way. Light experimenting and finding these new ways to use it suggests he’s more demented than a demon is.
