The Zoro doubt after 612 was blasphemous lol

I think you meant Let’s HECK’N GO 😉

I am under the impression that zoro doesn't kill when he doesn't have too. He showed us that he is willing to cut but he can just as easily defeat her without killing her. He was mocking her for thinking that he wouldn't cut her at all.

Abu

Doing Sanji dirty like that not, hoping he has Conquerers.

DarnedStingray8

I still didn't fully understand Zoro not cutting Monet, so I went to the One Piece Fandom Wiki, where it says that Zoro didn't consider Monet a proper opponent because she was so much weaker than him. She was merely a distraction, and so he didn't consider her worthy of his full effort. It does also say that he's not a fan of using excessive force against women, though. For example, not cutting Ms. Monday back at Whiskey Peak, and instead choosing to beat her barehanded.

Jose Rodriguez

Could have also just been knowing Monet specifically was inferior, and allowing Tashigi to get some spotlight because while he probably knows Tashigi is weaker, he doesn't see her as inferior. The straw hats generally don't kill those weaker than them or almost anyone ever anyway but yeah it probably would have brought him zero satisfaction to kill or even properly defeat someone so pathetic like monet, when he could just let Tashigi do it since she viewed Monet as more of a threat in general based on her dialogue. I'm rambling but it sort of maybe kind of makes sense in my head with almost no evidence 😅

Wojciechu

He's fully aware of being stronger than all of those women combined :D

Bachira

I think people conflate seriousness with lethality. Zoro doesn't like to kill women but he'll fight them seriously. Sure, he might be more quick to kill a man but that doesn't mean he wouldn't kill a woman if he had to. It's just that in this case, he didn't have to. It's definitely a form of discrimination, I guess, but not one I would consider problematic.

Bim Skuddi

Oda doesn’t like to see women getting hurt by men usually. What that does though is make Zoro look a bit hypocritical. He knowledged that they were both on the new world and had to lock in, but then willingly holds back and wastes time against an inferior opponent.

Sankai

Look at the bright side about the kids: Looking at Mocha's flashbacks, it looks like not a single kid died - this means we can save all the kids! :D Considering Zoro: My take is that he just wanted to test out his new strength, as he didn't even sweat on Fishman Island. Using haki on a logia user who doesn't use haki themselves? Too easy. Also I don't think Zoro - or actually any Strawhat - has killed anyone on screen in the manga (or at least no named character)

Isaiah Gonzales

I don’t want Sanji to have it either😳

Hotshame

Zoro basically traumatized her by giving her a reality where she is cut in half, when in fact she wasn't.

MotU_Shosha

Zoro's attack on Monet is easy my favourite moment of the whole arc and it is one of my favourite badass moments in the series. Zoro might be a badass and he often seems to be brutal, but he still does not just run around and slaughter people. As he said he just had to make sure Monet does not attack his friends. Him not killing her ist not because of weakness, pity or disrespect against women. He simply did not kill an enemy that is so much weaker than him and is no harm at all.

MotU_Shosha

The thing is, that Luffy, Zoro and the other strawhats are pirates, but they don't just kill people. Crocodile, CP9, Hody Jones. All these people did evil things, killed people and hurt the strawhats or their friends. But still the strawhats did not kill them, which would be easy after beating them. Zoros goal is to be the strongest, not killing as many enemies as he can. And he is highly protective to his friends. Just watch him protecting Robin in some occasions. On Skypia he failed to protect her and she got hurt badly by Eneru. On fishman island when Hyouzou tried attacking Robin, Zoro did not let him hurt her. He is a fierce fighter and a badass, but in the end he is a very good guy and an extremely loyal friend.

Kyle T

My two cents on the discussion at the end, is that Zoro can't stand people who don't believe in themselves and takes things seriously. We could see the same thing from him when he told Luffy to stop goofing around.

Cliff Douglas

Zoro doesn't like to go all out against women. Why in 2025 is that such a strange concept for post feminist world?

Devon Joseph

Basically. He'll probs never go all out with Tashigi cause she reminds him so much of Kurena. But also because she is that much weaker than him. It almost mimics Mihawk "What kind of fool hunts rabbits with a cannon?"

MotU_Shosha

I think Mihawk is a good comparison. He won't hurt Tashigi badly, but I guess if they meet and she challenges him, he will give her the chance to fight. Kuina did the same thing to him, she always took his challenges, beat him every withoug hurting him, even when they used real swords.

They way Nami feels ABSOLUTELY SLIGHTED when called weak, and immediately basically 'sucker punched' Monet in a way, is everything. On another note... "Time's up." *fangirls bouncing off the walls all over the bloody room* Cutting her in half without Haki, after the fact that he has it, is SUCH disrespect and a power move. I love our husbando. Zoro not killing either of them isn't NECESSARILY about them being women. It's.. more like he said. "There's things I want to and not want to cut". Neither Monet, nor Tashigi are a 'real threat' in his eyes. He *could* likely kill them both at the same time.. He just.. doesn't have a reason to, really. I'd say it CAN go in hand with his "That's because I AM better than you." in a way, somewhat resembling Mihawk thinking of others as 'frogs in a well' and not worth spilling blood over. But not because they're women, simply because he IS better than these 2 specifically. And I'm psure that at least in Tashigi's case, he 'can't kill her' not because she's a woman, but because she's basically a carbon copy of his childhood friend. At least, that's the way I've always seen him in my eyes. It'd usually always all be down to.. 'skill', regardless of gender.

JoyBoy69

I appreciate the older sisters genuine reaction to Monet!!

Zuraz

I agree Zoro is the Goat :)

Masahiro Onuki

My understanding is that Zoro just understands reality of nature which man physically stronger than woman. And he does not want to kill someone who obviously inferior to him when it is not necessary. Not I'm saying that Zoro does not respect women who put themselves into battle field which is mainly consisted with men, but for this time, he knows he's stronger than both Tashigi and Monet without even having to fight, so he could not find his reason to kill them. Difference between Sanji and Zoro is that Sanji is not gonna kill any women no matter what vs Zoro will kill woman when it is necessary or when she is strong enough to make him think wanna fight.

Derek Cook

Zoro never told Kuina he Thought she would be the strongest one day. Ya'll need a refresher.

Zarathos Daimaoh

I feel he does have a soft spot for women like Tashigi (and Monet) when he doesn't feel they are a threat nor equal in skills. It's nuanced, as he'd likely be more violent toward non threatening male foes. But if some insane female warrior stands in his way and he gotta be serious and even kill her, he can and will. Besides let's be honest—no disrespect to Tashigi, who gets some nice moments and is a good leader—but her bark is louder than her bite. She hasn't won a single fight against any named or important character, was even hindering Smoker during a fight once , and is clearly outmatched against Zoro... yet she is very arrogant and assumes a lot here.
