It's not explained in the anime, but Beru is most likely named after French novelist Bernard Werber, who authored a famous book in 1991 called "Empire of the Ants". iirc in the manhwa, Jinwoo doesn't fully remember the name (similar to the moment he named Tusk)

I am personally not a huge fan of this show, imo it does not have any substance besides a slightly intriguing mystery and obviously a lot of aura farming :D which unfortunately is not enough for me to find it more than simply entertaining. That said I had a lot of fun watching you freak out about all the hype moments, thanks for your reaction <3

Yeah, I also definitely enjoyed it. I am just a bit surprised that so many people seem to absolutely love it. But luckily there are so many Anime for every taste 😇

If you like to read I highly suggest reading Solo Leveling. I’ve enjoyed the anime since I finally get to see everything I’ve read animated, but the anime doesn’t do the Manhwa justice with how much stuff was cut out and some design tweaks to characters

Thats all it is for me aswell, nice fights and animation. the story honestly is meh but i dont always need that. Sometimes it justz nice seeing ppl fuck each other up ( Baki ,records of ragnarok,) what action movies is for others, i watch solo leveling for that same urge. same goes for JJk btw, which is why i had no hype to start season 3 and probably just wait till its all out

Jjk is not the same at all, the characterization and the structure of the world dwarfs solo leveling. the power system is more thought out and side characters actually matter. The main plot isnt as linear and its more dense. Now Solo leveling has a more linear type of story telling which is done in a good way to keep people entertained but jjk isn’t as simplistic. But solo leveling is more hype tho I will say that😭(even that is debatable).

As for why the ant king's new name is "Beru," the name comes from Bernard Werber (베르나르 베르베르), a French writer whose book Empire of the Ants (개미) is beloved in Korea. I've personally never heard of this book but now I'm interested in reading it. In Korean, Bernard (베르나드) is shortened to "Beru" (베르) in a casual way, reflecting the sound of the original name.

"That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime" or "Reincarnated as 7th Prince" both (as always silly titles) are a great addition! - Slime is a strong mix of cozy EPs with some action here and there. Did had me cry at moments, so its not just "all action" but also really clever writing (for more action-ish Anime). - 7th Prince is somewhat a sleeper recommendation, very nice art and a more comfy-feel good vibes. Is also not touching too much on the isekai tropes/setting and is much more fantasy, with a "rule of cool" that is just fun to watch. Both also kinda checking the "wtf power-levels" box, while at the same time its not just pure "OP power trip" cliche (solo leveling very much showed how not to). Speaking of pure OP show: - The Eminence in Shadow would be 3rd pick as its pure "aura farming" and just a silly good watch (if u vibe with the humor/irony). PS.: "Jobless Reincarnate" also very strong but i can see/understand why people prolly wont "vibe" with the show - MC is... very troubled to say the least. Still worth to pull through, cause lets be real humans are not simple and not always only good.

Would recommend both, tbf Overlord is a little bit of a one trick pony (i liked the humor) so it can be very hit or miss.

The Manwha isn't any more engaging. It's all flash and little substance. Don't get me wrong I like the show/manwha but in a blockbuster action way. Trying to say it's more than the flashy paint it shows is silly.

If you like OP MC's that is really the basis for Isekai. You don't have to wait long for them to go from a zero to a hero. It is the major trope for the genre.

Oh, no question the MC is very much an anti-hero (at best) if not straight up antagonist. Anime really did a number on highlighting the worst parts of Rudeus, which makes him really a weirdo and not an social oddball he "should" be (iirc Manga was not that bad or i forgot). Again i can see why anyone would drop the show for good reasons, just can only emphasise: its worth to pull through (lowkey one of the core messages in the show). Tho despite the flaws, the show does tackle real issues i havent seen portrayed like this before! Besides that the animations, sound and overall world building is neat - I liked the growth and redemption (which really only works, when ur put off at first).

Since haylo and kiss love solo leveling I think they should check out that time I got reincarnated as a slime, it has the same vibe and it is another anime where the main character gets really strong really fast, I just think you guys would really like it.

There was a rumor I saw posted after the Demon Slayer movies recent success that they may forego a 3rd season and instead go into the movie model to finish off the series. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Been following along and saw the whole dub/sub debacle unfold earlier on, I didn't want to get involved when it was heated, but wanted to say my thoughts on it after. Both are good. I watched the sub first and was eventually exposed to the dub via a reaction. I actually ended up preferring the dub largely due to Aleks Le's (Jinwoo's VA) work. He actually added in some things that somehow made Jinwoo even more badass in certain scenes. The only thing I disliked in the dub was kargalgan since it was hard to understand him. I would suggest you try watching a few key scenes in the dub just to see how it is, or based on how much you liked it, do a rewatch with the dub (not saying react to it, just if you're rewatching on your own time) As for the people who are in the "original version is always superior" camp, I do find it kind of funny in regards to this specific anime, since the actual original version of this changed up all the names of the characters for the Japanese audience when season 1 was airing.

well you missed the glitch when he leveled up to 100 there was a little 0.5 second glitch that you might want to revisit .

See I have seen both and prefer Sub. The key reason for that is when Jinwoo voice goes deep it sounds natural in Sub. Where as Dub though it is on the better side it sounds corny/cheesy borderline fake. Almost like you can tell he's forcing it. Of course its great people can watch what they prefer, so no hate from me just my two cents as someone who watched both versions. As for the original comment not quite sure what you are touching on or trying to have people look at but everyone knows Japan had their own version ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
