3rd years usually do stop extracurricular activities after spring tournaments so that they can focus on studies for college entrance exams. Our 3rd years obviously chose to stay and keep playing.

I think someone pointed out in the previous episode about high school in Japan. It starts in the spring and there’s a short summer break before 2nd half of the term starts. That’s roughly when the next tournament will be.

Please watch OVA 1 (Lev Appears) before starting season 2. It’s very cute and a great prep for season 2. You’ll get to meet a new character first before the crows get to meet him later.

Also yeah, third years can participate the rest of the year but culture dictates that they are expected to study and focus on college or career afterwards.

2 tournaments a year, one in the fall and one in the spring. You can reach nationals at either tournament, although unless the team is competitive 3rd years will usually not play in the spring to focus on their studies and entrance exams.

FYI Spring Tournament ends the school year off. They say Spring Tournament but it starts in Aug. Inter-High = start of the year, Spring Tournament = end of the year
