As others are saying, conqueror's haki and color of the supreme king are the same thing. It's annoying, but they just decided to change the translation at some point, with no given explanation. "Color of the supreme king" is closer to a literal translation from the Japanese which is perhaps why they felt the need to change it.

As others have mentioned there are multiple names for Conqueror's haki, but they all mean the same thing, it's just different translations. - Conqueror's Haki - Color of the Supreme King - Supreme King Haki - Conqueror's Spirit They are all names used for the same type of haki. Don't let the translation confuse you 👍

No, I totally agree that it's "culty" the way they treated Doflamingo. it makes me wonder if there's some sort of history, story, or prophecy that they base their devotion on. Like as if Doflamingo fit some sort of description of a charismatic evil that is meant to rule and/or destroy the world in some way that they wanted him to.

'Color of the Supreme King' is an interesting one. The fan translators always get to work faster than the official manga translation or the anime does, and fan groups disagree on how to translate certain things. When this phrase was originally introduced, the most common translation was simply, 'The King's Disposition'

This one still confuses me. I've heard Supreme King Haki and Colour of the Supreme King, but I just prefer Conqueror's Haki.

Color of the Supreme King and Conqueror's Haki are the same thing. The former is technically the more "accurate" translation, but the latter just flows better imo. The term has gone through many version depending on the translation.

It’s not actually a change to Haki itself, just a translation shift. In Japanese they’ve always been called Kenbunshoku, Busoshoku, and Haoshoku, where shoku literally means color. So the most direct translation is Color of Observation, Color of Armament, and Color of the Supreme King. Earlier subs simplified it to just Observation/Armament/Conqueror’s Haki, but newer ones are being more literal. And color doesn’t mean actual colors, it’s more like the type or nature of someone’s aura. Color of Observation = Observation Haki
Color of Arms = Armament Haki
Color of the Supreme King = Conqueror’s Haki

That Haki is the conqueror's haki, just lost in translation, in Japanese it's called Haoshoku Haki

Oda didn't change anything, it was always the same in the original Japanese but translated differently from here onwards.

Don't look too much into the slight color differences in people's haki (like Kiss mentioned with Doffy and Luffy's armament haki being slightly different shades of black), most of the time it's just mild artistic liberties being taken. HOWEVER, whenever you see black lightning (usually with red as well), that is the telltale sign of conqueror's haki being used.

The literal translation for the 3 Hakis would be "The color of armament" " the color of observation" and "the color of the conqueror" or " the color of the supreme king". This color thing will make more sense in a few arcs ahead

Noticed how Doffy has these "rose-colored" shades and we never see his eyes? As a kid he had black shades on but as an adult he's been wearing those red shades the entire time we knew him. It's interested to note the idiom for "rosed-colored glasses" indicating ignoring the negatives of the world and keeping a positive outlook turned malicious when seen from Doffy's perspective. As an ex-world noble but raised around the Don fam, Doffy is spoiled to see the world in a way that keeps him entitled because "no wrong can happen to him". The smile is an entitled smile. It's the opposite of Gol D. Roger and Luffy smiling at the face of death. In a way it's a perverse immitation of the Pirate King's smile. I think that's why he's always smiling as an imitation and a mockery.

I'm pretty sure Toei uses the black lightning sometimes even for non-conquerors. To be honest Toei can be quite inconsistent with the way they portray haki so it can be confusing

Eh you gotta when you’ve rewatched one piece a few times in itself, and then more with all the reactors on YouTube/ patreon 🤣. (ESP in the dressrosa arc my goodness) Def luffy and one piece. Then Naruto then DB then bleach. I started one piece way back as a kiddo watching it on adult swim w/ inuyasha and case closed. Later years I reconnected with it and really started watching was when Marineford was brand new

Color of the Supreme King is a more accurate/complete translation than Conquerer's haki. At some time the anime and manga translations adjusted this. As japanese is a complex language, over the course of 1000+ episodes some names/wordingchanges will cause minor confusion. Most notably apart from Haki are names with L and R that are used for a long time with one of these and later switched with another as these two are interchangable in japanese.
