In case you didn’t already know, the season 3 ending references the story of Kaguya the moon princess we heard in season 2 on the roof when they were stargazing. She gave her lover an immortality potion before leaving for the moon that he burned instead of drinking, not wanting to be without her. Shirogane said that if he were in that position he would drink it and eventually go to the moon to take her back. That’s what this ending was, him drinking the potion, and then centuries passing until he could get to the moon with the space army to reunite with Kaguya.

The majority of the ending is also a parody of Starship Troopers for some reason which is hilarious.

I believe this season, and for the rest of the story the show takes a turn in a direction most people wouldnt expect. Now that you know the characters and care for them, they are going to show them fully to you, with the uglyness and recklessness of the love of two geniuses that won the war of ordinary love!
