WOW this show has totally surprised us in the best way. Thank you so so much for suggesting this over and over! We genuinely can't wait to watch the endings and the movie! The game plan for next week is the Endings video/some small specials on Tues, a poll for what's next (probably on Thurs), and then the Movie as early as Thurs if it can be edited in time (we can't watch it until Monday). If not on Thurs then Sat for sure 🫶

I always saw Aki looking at the "easy revenge" cigarette before agreeing to the nutshot contest as him interpreting it as "petty revenge" too, it might be something that doesn't translate as well but made sense to the author in japanese, idk tho

i love that he quoted the nanami teacher's quote of "dont trust anything a hunter tells you" like when he stabbed denji in the head after saying it's over for today. Denji used that same tactic to bait katana man to hit his head and not defend his leg lmao

25:20 interesting you talk about "revenge" that way, and we have Aki in the ending scene smoking his cigarette and it burns off the "easy" part of "Easy revenge", so the only thing that's left is a non-easy revenge ;)

The whole "Easy Revenge" thing is open-ended because it's not shown when the message was written on the cigarette. There didn't seem to be anything written on it when she first gave it to him in the restaurant, so I always thought she wrote it via the Ghost Devil from the afterlife. I interpret it as Himeno telling Aki to settle for the easy revenge of avenging her own life, rather than pursuing the "Hard Revenge" against the Gun Devil which she seemed convinced would end in his death.

You girls hit on arguably the biggest characteristic of Fujimoto (the original author) at the end of your discussion: subverting expectations. In all of his works, Chainsaw Man included, he seems determined to steer the train off the tracks and into a crazy direction that no one expects. And what he excels at is using inhuman or superhuman situations to explore what it means to be truly human. He is quite the genius. And geniuses are often wont to follow their own whims, and are not necessarily concerned with making their audience happy, for better or worse.

Lighting is great btw. If it's too bright for your eyes, you can just aim or point it in an angle against the wall. If your light is strong enough and currently near a wall, you will get the same lighting you have now but without dazzling your eyes while watching.

god after reading the manga then seeing that last scene of pochita talking about not opening the door i was just hit so hard with feels and the movie is awesome its a good side story to ease us into how much faster paced the story is gonna get

Please watch "Look Back" by Fujimoto, the same author/illustrator. Only an hour. Short and very sweet. Possibly the best short film of last year, you seem like you would appreciate it based off of your understanding of CSM (which it is nothing like).

The girl with the Snake Devil was killed because she failed her end of the contract which was to acquire Chainsaw's heart. If you remember whenever a contract is broken by either a devil or a human the one who breaks it basically dies. And even though CSM is classified as a shonen, marketed toward a young male demographic, anime/manga the spirit of its story is more of a seinen. Meaning it falls more in line with themes covered in anime/manga marketed toward an adult male audience. So that's why I think it's a little deeper than what you ladies expected. Actually Tthe same goes for the anime Witch Hat Atelier which is a seinen anime/manga as it was first serialized in a men's manga magazine titled, "Monthly Morning Two".
